Hotel is in needs of a makeover. Bed was too soft, wallpaper is peeling behind the checkin desk, stains on the carpets (3rd floor), and elevators with buttons/floors that do not light up. Location is good. Close to restaurants and shopping. You do pay for parking but that is expected at most Los Angeles. Hotels. Staff are really good. Silvia in the restaurant is phenomenal. Remembers you every morning and your preferences. Happy and welcoming to her guests.
All of the staff were exceptional from the front desk to housekeeping and dining. The heated pool was great for the kids. Breakfast buffet was just right. Clean public washrooms. Lots of room and convenient parking lot. The hotel is older and does not have a fresh smell, but the friendly demeanour of staff and cleanliness of the premises warrant a return visit should we be in the area again.
We spent a few nights at this well designed and placed hotel. Check-in took a few minutes as the staff were trying to upgrade us and very room readiness. The process was easy and communications were clearly a priority. ||The room was clean and fresh - but most importantly- quiet. ||I do have a big issue - and that is the use of old and flat small pillows on a king size bed. The pillows did not help me sleep and were actually a detriment. This is a Hilton wide issue at some of their brands. This is only the second or third time the small pillows were seen at a Doubletree. This may seem like a nit but it’s important. Please take action or review the small pillow issue. ||Jorge at the bar/restaurant is awesome. He was funny and engaging and helped us pick some good food choices. Your front office staff and cleaning folks are also excellent. ||The pool was nice and underutilized in my opinion. It was clean and well maintained. ||Overall a good experience - and I recommend the hotel.
Rooms are fairly spacious with clean comfortable bedding. Bathrooms have amenities in large eco-friendly dispensers. There are no extras, slippers, dressing gowns, showercaps, etc, so bring your own or perhaps housekeeping can provide if needed. Coffee machine in room. Small balcony but beware enjoying your morning coffee or leaving items there as we were almost drenched from a sudden unexpected downpour of dirty water from cleaning above. When we pointed this out we were advised it's "just how it is". Very pleasant pool area. Cleaning staff are lovely, reception are hit-and-miss. Internet service also hit and miss, sometimes working sometimes not (but apparently there are repairs currently to correct this). Reasonable hotel, but don't expect frills.
Couldn't ask for more. Staff was amazingly friendly, and when I left an important belonging behind, they were able to help me get it back efficiently and safely. We've all heard stories of hotels "losing" items. It would be so easy for them to say "no, we didn't find anything". But, they went the extra mile and got it back to me. I can't think of a Hotel I trust more than Hotel MdR
We were pleasantly surprised to dine at Hotel MDR. We have recommended several family members to stay there since we stayed there several years ago. The lobby was really nice. The bar, restaurant and outdoor seating was really nice. The heaters and fire pit were welcome. The gentleman serving the entire area was pleasant and attentive. We really enjoyed it.
Excellent hotel in an area with few hotels. The hotel is a remodeled 1950s hotel that the team at Double Tree has been successfully able to make both retro and modern at the same time. The pool area is very cozy and has a lot of charm. The popcorn walls and ceiling are very nostalgic of an era when all hotels had walls like this. The hotel is within distance to many restaurants and very easily accessible from the highway and not far from LAX.
I had the most incredible stay at Hotel MDR, and it was made even more special thanks to the exceptional hospitality of Raquel. From the moment I arrived, Raquel went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. The hotel itself was fantastic, with clean, stylish rooms and great amenities, but Raquel's warmth and attention to detail truly made the difference. Her recommendations for local attractions and dining were spot on, and she always had a welcoming smile. I can't recommend Hotel MDR and Raquel as a host enough – it's the epitome of a perfect stay!

You can purchase an all day parking pass (good for 24 hours) or hourly. Probably gets much busier during weekends (beach valley ball?, boating) but weekday visit presented a moment for a peaceful stop by the water. There are a couple spots to eat if

Wonderful brunch with a view of Marina Del Rey harbor! Highly recommend the pork belly sando because the pretzel croissant bun was unique, fresh and delicious.
Great Bar! Great for Irish holidays to visit. A small minority of people are protesting against the turtle race, but it's awesome and they have no imagination! :). They just yell and shout the loudest but don't protest the real issues of the world. I

I think in every instance when wanting to eat and looking at reviews you have to weigh out why a person can leave a 5 here and leave a 5 at an actual elegant restaurant and they be held in the same regard. I was in need of a bite of food with no fril
