We had an absolutely delightful experience during our recent weekend stay at Hotel Laurance. From the ample parking availability to the seamless self-check-in process, everything was exceptionally convenient. The room surpassed our expectations, boasting not only beautiful aesthetics but also an impeccable level of cleanliness and comfort. The bed and pillows provided a heavenly night's sleep, and the spacious bathroom added to the overall sense of luxury. Our room offered stunning views of the downtown area against a backdrop of majestic mountains. The thoughtful amenities, such as a coffee maker in both the lobby and the room stocked with gourmet coffee pods, elevated our stay even further. Additionally, we had the pleasure of attending an event in the hotel's banquet room, which proved to be absolutely perfect in every aspect.
Great option for Luray. Only truly family friendly place we could find - our room (#7) - was more like a two bedroom apartment, with two separated queen beds, living room and decent sized kitchen. Room was very clean, and well appointed. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was that the place is more of a Airbnb alternative vs a hotel. No real amenities and only part time staff - you enter via a code. We paid $250/nt for the true off season - perhaps a bit high but again, a good option.
It was our first time staying at this charming hotel. I loved how they combined antique and modern perfectly. The location and parking is very easy to walk every where. Extremely clean and comfortable bed. We are already planning to come back and stay here. Enjoyed every single moment.
We arrived at Hotel Laurence at 5 pm. We read that we were to let ourselves into the hotel by key entry. The hotel sits on west main and our room #12 faces a fairly busy street where trucks rumble by with loud mufflers. The hotel entry hall is quiet, well appointed but with no welcoming signs of any sort. The staff stays until 2 pm. There was a strong odor of insecticide in the hall and our room. The room is spacious but there are no surfaces in the bathroom to place toiletries. The bed is very firm. The toilet seat will not stay up and has to be held. Thermostat temperature control in our room was very good. Noises from the street are very prominent and ear plugs are a necessity. A night light would have been nice.
The hotel overall is charming. Unfortunately, our room (The Oliver) had a strong odor, similar to feces. The first night we poured water down the shower drain which seemed to help. Unfortunately when we returned from hiking on the second day the odor was strong again and nothing we did seemed to ease it. Additionally, the room is immediately adjacent to a very high traffic street (no warning in the hotel listing) and sleep was more than difficult. The manager allowed us to change rooms which, although very time consuming as we had all our clothing and hiking gear out of our bags, did get us to a quiet and clean smelling room. We checked out on Friday, September 22. The manager emailed us that day that she had given us a credit on our bill because of the problems. Today is October 2 and the credit has not appeared on our credit card. The manager continues to promise that the credit will eventually appear. I would not return to this property.
I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Laurence in Luray, Virginia and overall, it was a delightful experience. The cozy rooms were undoubtedly the highlight of my stay. Upon entering the room, I immediately felt a sense of warmth and comfort. The décor was tastefully done, creating a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a long day of exploring. The bathroom while the shower was slightly small had great amenities. However, it is worth noting that the hotel lacks certain amenities that some travelers may expect. There is no breakfast and it is self check in. Nevertheless, the convenience of having various restaurants and stores nearby more than made up for this. It was incredibly convenient to have dining options just a short walk away, allowing me to indulge in the local cuisine without having to travel far. One of the standout aspects of Hotel Laurence is its beautiful historic building. The architecture exudes charm and character, reflecting the rich history of Luray. It was a pleasure to be able to stay in such a well-preserved and iconic structure. The hotel's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the building is evident, and it adds to the overall ambiance of the establishment. In conclusion, my experience at Hotel Laurence in Luray, Virginia was largely positive. The cozy rooms provided a comfortable and relaxing stay, while the convenient location near restaurants and stores made it easy to explore the local area. Additionally, the beautiful historic building added a touch of charm to my overall experience. Despite the lack of certain amenities, I would highly recommend Hotel Laurence for a pleasant and memorable stay in Luray.
This looks like a bed and breakfast without the breakfast. Our entrance opened to the outside but the majority of the hotels entrances open to the inside. The inside of the hotel is beautiful, some nice sitting areas, another kitchen, coffee machines and such. But this place is totally unattended, there's no humans that work here. Everything is done by text message, it's very odd. Plus there's cameras in all the public areas so they could see what's going on I suppose Very nicely decorated, a lot of antique type of fixtures and things. Everything is large space-wise. Cleanliness was another issue , our Oven had a takeout container that had about 3 in of mold growing on the outside of it. Some of the drawers in the unit had crumbled up napkins and kleenexes Door lock failed to let us in multiple times and even though we contacted our invisible staff, it was never fixed Would have been a lot less expensive to have stayed right up the street in a much nicer building with humans on staff
On arrival at Hotel Laurence, we learned that they had tried to take the money from my card earlier than it stated in reservation confirmation, I wanted to pay with a different card so paying on arrival was a perfect solution to this. The lady took us into the office as soon as we arrived to take the money for the stay. |I had wanted to stay here for years, having visited Luray several times, it was a dream and justified the especially high price because the pictures on the website looked amazing. |I was expecting first class service and an amazing boutique experience. I left very very disappointed. |Room 5: small counter space and small fridge, cobwebs behind the door, enamel peeling off the bath tub, difficult to close bathroom door. Ant infestation in the room (was dealt with the same day) room was requested to be cleaned but no one came and on messaging was advised that it would be done later - it was done the same evening but feel that it should be automatically done in a hotel of this calibre and you shouldn’t have to remember to ask for your room to be cleaned or serviced and new towels. They say this is for privacy but other hotels manage to service your room when you are out without the need for guests to have to ask and then it not be done. |On arrival back one of the nights we had a power cut, there were no provisions made such as a torch provided and the emergency lighting was flickering on and off, clearly not safe should there have been an actual emergency. |Room 7: |The shower was so difficult to turn on but if you pulled it too hard it would’ve come off the wall, the room was dirty under the settee and we found a cap that was there for however long and not ours, these are wooden floors, sweeping underneath is not a difficult task. The floorboards were eroding and covered by a rug that was turning up at the corners and dangerous but we couldn’t move it as it was stuck to the floor in places. |The bath was peeling enamel and there was a nail sticking out under the table that my grandson had scraped his leg on. Again, flickering emergency lighting. ||Communal areas are very poor and run down, the back door has tape on the bottom step and the floorboards are rotten and broken and covered with a rug. ||We only saw one other person (one other guest) during our stay apart from the taking of the money, no other member of staff or person in the building, hardly a boutique experience, we may as well have stayed In a Marriott or holiday inn where staff are on hand and available, or I fact an Airbnb as this is what it was like but nowhere near as good. ||On now reading the other reviews, it seems that this hotel clearly take no responsibility for the poor service and general upkeep of their hotel. We have contacted the hotel directly with the above but not had any response back from a week ago. It seems that as long as they have had your money they don’t care if you are dissatisfied. We are seeking a refund of our stay as we don’t believe it to be worth the horrendous amounts that we paid and from other reviews it clearly seems to be everybody else’s fault and the customers are all wrong. I would’ve liked to not have to leave such a review but lack of response or acknowledgment from the owner has prompted this. I wouldn’t like anyone else to spend the amount we did and not be 110% happy with their stay here.
Out of all of the pullout areas along the road in Shenandoah Park, this is a must-see stop. Breathtakingly beautiful. We counted over 7 or 8 different butterflies feeding on the wildflowers. It was magical feeling the cool air from the valley on this
Absolutely beautiful!! We really enjoyed the self guided tour. It's definitely worth the trip!! We visited from Michigan over New Years weekend. It wasn't terribly busy. We spent a few hours there between the caves, village, and museums. The ticket p
