I want to do 4 stars but from my personal experience, 3 is the best I can give. There's a nice small mom and pop feel to this place. It's got a cute 50's vibe with the seats and the paintings all over the walls.
The service was lacking and maybe even somewhat confusing. There are little phones at each booth that you use to order but the room is so small you can hear yourself and the person standing at the register in the middle of the room and it makes it very difficult to even understand them and concentrate on what you're saying yourself. I ordered a chicken cordon Bleu and somehow they heard a blue cheese burger. So I didn't even get what I ordered.
They don't make it very clear that drinks are self serve and the guy behind the counter was pretty rude when we asked about it. They really need to make it more clear how their "system" works and not be so rude when someone asks for them to explain how we get our drinks and other condiments. Also, maybe it was just where we were sitting, but for most of the meal all we could smell were wet dirty dishes. It almost smelled like a mop bucket with chemicals in it.
We'll probably be back to give them another chance because the food wasn't horrible, but they need to fix a lot of issues.
I liked the country fried steak, but the biscuits & gravy were served cold. The server was out of the room to work on a project most of the time but checked in enough to make it work.
I'm confused by the other reviews that show a brightly colored retro diner with nice booths, tiled floors, etc. The diner at this address has no booths, old carpet, and simple tables and chairs. They went for the retro diner vibe with some wall decorations but it's a completely different place from what other reviews show.
Good Food. Good People. We've been coming here for years and NEVER had any issues. The instructions to order are CLEAR and on the front of the menus. Old school decor. I'm always greeted with a happy, friendly smile. These guys and gals work their butts off. Food and vibr is ALWAYS amazing here. 🥰 The BLT and cheese fries are my favorites, the ribeye steak is my fiancée and the kids always like their options! And Breakfast the country fried steak and that pepper gravy is AMAZING!!!!!
Fast Service, fun atmosphere! Food is spot on as far as specific add extra this or take off that... Prices are between $4 and $12 plate and plenty to choose from including breakfast anytime! Great selection of drinks, fountain, bottled, coffee, or tea. Booth seating. Plenty of dipping sauces, ranch fry sauce, ketchup. Great oldies tunes playing on the speakers and matches the interior decor of the restaurant.
The downer for us was the place didn't seem super clean... Such as a bit dusty in a few areas especially around the phones where you place your order. The floors a bit sticky. And the tables and booths weren't exactly new but weren't overly used and could use a deep cleaning. That's the only reason for a 4 star review. Great place to dine! Fun for groups, and right on main Street. Plenty of parking, Jeff and crew are fantastic hosts and chefs!
We should have walked back out. The restaurant is filthy. It's a self serve diner. There was a woman, a boy and the cook working, but only the cook did anything. We walked in right after another couple. The received their meal right away. Our meals waited until after the woman working and another man were served their meals AND they finished eating. I checked on when our food would be ready, the cook pointed to hashbrowns cooking. We waited another 15 min after that. Although it tasted good, the food was overdone on one side. As we were leaving, I saw 4 tables piled high with dishes, unswept floors, the grill had grease soaked towels underneath, the restroom was filthy. DON'T GO, it's not good enough food to take the risk.
I've visited the Hot Rod Diner twice now. The food was prepared quickly and was VERY tasty each time. The grilled quesadilla was a nice appetizer. The chicken fried steak was tender and full of flavor with yummy white gravy on top. The baked potatoes were fully cooked and so good we ate the skin too. The scones were small but perfectly cooked. The honey butter was just the right amount for the scone. The blackened chicken pasta was perfectly cooked and the garlic toast helped sop up the leftover Alfredo sauce. The ribeye steak barely needed a knife to cut. At $15 it was the most expensive item on the menu, but worth every penny. The chef's salad was a meal in itself with a nice blend of meats, cheeses and boiled egg.
Their prices were very reasonable, especially with the senior discount. The service and food preparation were very fast! We dined in and were out in less than an hour, even on a busy night. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Hot Rod Diner and will be back soon.
The name caught my eye as I was exploring around the south side of Utah lake. Small Town Diners always seem to have to best food... Hot Rod Diner does not disappoint! The mushroom swiss burger was seriously fantastic! I'll stop here again for sure next time I'm in this neck of the woods.
Really great food! The older gentleman were very friendly and welcoming! The younger guy working was a bit rude but the food was great! Some of the reviews mentioned cleanliness, I can say when we came it was very clean. We were there before the dinner rush though. I will 100% be coming back! Btw the Motz sticks were amazing. No marinara sauce which was fine with us.
Driving the Mt Nebo Loop has been a bit of a running joke in our family. On the way home from a long drive, "Hey kids, should we take the Mt. Nebo Loop?" Or in the pitch dark "Say, let's take the loop" yet never, in 20+ years, have we driven it until
Their coffee brings me so much happiness! My go to is the Crazy Honkey Hazel latte (white chocolate, hazelnut & cinnamon). Itâs the best! Their Milky Way is also delicious (milk chocolate & caramel).. I would recommend their turkey avocado bagel sa
We tried the carne asada street tacos and a bean and cheese burrito. Ask the food tasted fresh and delicious. I also really liked the green sauce-- it tasted like tomatillo and cilantro sauce.
Park was nice and pavilions were large. There was a nice little Pond for the kids to play in. We had a family reunion here and it ended up pretty nice. Will use this park again.
The best hamburgers around! Absolutely love the beer battered fries are the best! Services was super fast restaurant very clean! The only down fall is the soda was flat!
My first time ever going to a bar was this local one. I was instantly greeted by a very nice man who worked there. He was very informative, and told me that if I had any issues that night that he would help me. The staff was very helpful as I didnâ
