This place is horrible. There is no one onsite to assist, three sets of broken key boxes to get in a room that doesn't lock well. Filthy spaces with bunk beds held together by duck tape. Nothing worked, including wifi and TV. No privacy, so random people can look into your room at any time walking by. Didn't feel safe here, not the neighborhood, just here. It seems a few kids run this place (Michelle, Floyd, or Sheryl?) Can't tell you what they look like because they were never there. Never even saw a cleaning service show up. They seem to run their bookings through online sites like Airbnb to get by which is questionable considering the condition of their property. Definitely don't go here. Very sleazy and dirty, not worth the price or your personal safety.

I was a little nervous about my stay in light of older reviews, however I was pleasantly surprised by this hostel! The location was totally fine and I felt perfectly safe as a solo, female traveler. I stayed in a female dorm and we had plenty of space for our stuff—there weren’t any lockers but I was fine with that since I travel with luggage locks. Everything was very clean, and the two floor fans helped with air flow. Also, check in was very easy, and it’s nice that the doors use codes so you don’t have to worry about keeping track of a key. Overall, this was just what I needed and an affordable option for those who don’t need a bunch of fancy amenities!

Stayed one week. Communication with the owners was excellent, and we got fresh towel when we asked for them. If you want space, this is not the place for you, no room for a table, no chair; the room was tiny, and no door to the bathroom. But it served our needs, and although the price was high, it was much lower than the fancy hotels that we really did not need. Our plans were to be out enjoying Maui, not sitting in a hotel room. Yes we would return to the Central Maui Hostel.

I live on Maui and needed a place for a night. Checked the usual places and the prices were unreasonable. Went on Airbnb and found this place . Did the self check-in... went smoothly. Room was clean and smelled nice. Was well equipped with towels, soap and shampoo. They provided a TV with the remote and Netflix. Was very peaceful and felt safe. Floyd and Michelle were always a message away. Got up the next morning and got ready for work. Did the self checkout and I was gone. I recommend this place to save some money and enjoy Maui's activities like SCUBA and hiking.

The location was next to public housing on one side and a recovery clinic on the other side. However, 2 or more blocks up the street was a nice small town downtown area. While unpacking, toothless men circled the parking lot and leered at me. There seemed to be a steady stream of people who looked homeless and not at all like travelers. I felt uneasy for my safety and was happy to have my husband with me. The room was clean and fine except there was no air conditioning and the both windows were small as noted in the photo, so that there was little to no ventilation. The room was very hot until late in the evening. We stayed one night in order to catch an early flight home. The facility itself was acceptable, well maintained and managed.

Zero stars. Place was gross and wildly subpar, but cheap. Floyd left me a scathing review on Airbnb, mostly it would appear because the app is simply beyond his grasp. I politely asked about the not functioning internet, once, and the incorrect bed sizes (not what we paid for), once and let it go as we were only staying a single night. See photos Im uploading of the chat log for a solid laugh . I've offered TO PAY THEM by the minute to discuss this with me on a recorded video chat, apparently that's harassment in Floyd's book. Offer stands fellas, let's have it out civilly and publicly with proof. Skip the headache, I'd spend the night sleeping naked in a Detroit bus station before I dealt with this nonsense again.

While I didn't expect much for our stay, this place was beyond underwhelming compared to the photos posted on their website. We knew this would be a small bedroom, however two of us stayed in here and hardly had enough room to walk past each other without running into one another. The welcome note on the wall says that the cleaning crew comes in to do a quick sweep & mop & refill of the necessities (toilet paper, towels, etc.), however not only did our unit not get cleaned after 5 nights, the place was disgusting upon entry. There was dirt, bugs, and mold everywhere, along with stains all over the mattresses and cobwebs hanging by our heads. The bathroom door isn't a door, but a plastic curtain t that slides shut, along with a shower that isn't big enough to fully bathe anyone over 5 feet tall. We contacted management asking them to simply clean up the unit for us since we were staying for almost an entire week. They agreed to come in, never did, and instead we went and purchased the necessities (new bed sheets to take place of the old stained ones, towels, blankets (no blankets were given to us... at all) and even rugs to keep our feet from touching the floor (which had bugs crawling all over them). Definitely not worth the price, & I wouldn't ever stay here or recommend this to anyone visiting Maui. Also there’s no free breakfast, not sure why there are reviews that say there are. We couldn’t even get more toilet paper when needed, we had to bring napkins with us from restaurants we went to.

I was really impressed by this hotel. We were in a lovely room on the 2nd floor of a cottage. Very clean, well equipped, excellent staff. Gave us the feeling of the old world charm of a beautiful Hawaiian island. Very comfortable. No swimming pool or "resort" -tuoe amenities, but we were happy to spend two nights there. Highly recommended, good value for the money
