One of my new favorite local trails. The wetlands are home to a variety of birds. There are also benches to enjoy some lovely views of the wetlands. Very peaceful.

Great place to take a hike in the woods. Not as well known as Fuller Farm in Scarborough which is near by but just as beautiful. I love the trails sections through the mature evergreen forest and sections near the stream. One great feature of this trails system is it possibly to hike to the Saco River from the main trailhead which will give you a good around trip hike of approximately 4 miles. The distance will depend on which connector trails you take. To do this you will need to take the Stone Bridge trail. At the stone bridge you need to cross the road and enter the field through an opening in the fence near the stream. From there you take the Mary Merrill trail to the Saco river which runs along the fields and Stackpole stream. The shortest route is Woodcock, Big Pine, Stone Bridge, and Mary Merrill trails and back the same route[3.82 mi RT]. For over 4 miles hike take Blue Harion. Woodcock, Beaver Path, Big Pine, Stone Bridge, and Mary Merrill, and back. The Stone Bridge trail is closed between March 15 and May 1st. Dogs (pets) must be leashed on the Stone Bridge and Mary Merrill trails. These trails appear to enter working farms and I'm sure the owners are trying to avoid any issue, like the harassment of farm animals or a pet running in front of a farm equipment. If you want even a longer hike, completing all the trails will get you near 6 miles.

Awesome hiking 🥾 area 1/2 way between Standish, Maine and Saco, Maine. You can hike this moderately travel trail system in 1.5 to 2.5 hrs depending on how fast 🏃💨 you walk and what trails you take 😃👍. The terrain starts out flat, then slightly downhill and brings you to a beautiful wetland area with fine views 👀🌲🌞👀. There’s a well build bridge that crosses a steam which leads you out to a couple loop trails with huge pines trees and thickets of Balsam fir trees. Place was REALLY spectacular the day we hiked with all the trees 💯 covered in fresh ❄️🤩🤩🤩. You’ll want to check this place out if your in the Buxton Maine area looking for a great hiking area. But if you need moving labor help, call Liberty Bell Moving & Storage 🇺🇸😬👌.

This place is enchanting. The trails are a good workout in the snow. Love the diversity of trees along the trail. It is dog friendly, but they must be leashed. Make sure you bring your own dog bags because they are not provided. Also, if you are on your way back and you're super tired and have the choice of blue heron or woodcock trail, woodcock is the shorter one!

A great trail system to check out. Lots of diversity and interesting terrain. Newly built big, beautiful bridges and well marked trails. Definitely worth making it to the stone bridge but do keep in mind it's privately owned and follow their requests so as not to lose the privilege ☺️

Wonderful walking trails. A hidden gem that I’ve just found out about- I will definitely be back!

I love this trail, it's such a great workout! It feels tucked away and secluded and is always so beautiful any time of year. My first time in the summer I didn't bring water or bug spray, two mistakes. I've never run into more than one group at a time. Also very clean! The only trash I've seen is a water bottle and I carried it out, whoever takes care of this trail does a good job. There are probably like 3 or 4 signs that say to leash your dogs but I've seen more unleashed dogs than leashed ones. Which doesn't bother me, but I know people that would want to know this beforehand. Bonus points if you find the Geo-cache!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this trail. The tree roots at the beginning of trail snagged our attention immediately. It was definitely worth the trek and the scenery was quite beautiful. Even my husband stopped to take pictures. We will definitely be back. This trail does have some rough spots, so not the best for strollers but overall a fairly easy hike.
