It's a small parking area. But you'll enjoy a lovely winding scenic walk through the woods hiking up and down the landscape to reach the shoreline. It feels a bit longer than what the sign says it is so be prepared. The beach is mostly red rocks with some red sand in spots. There are some awesome rock cliffs on either side of the beach as well.
Rough dirt road to get to parking area.
0.3 mile moderate to rough trail to reach the beach.
Pristine smooth rock and sand beach.
Well worth the effort.
It's an amazing place to be if you love to be out in nature, very few people venture this far past Copper Harbor from what I could tell.
One of the best spots in the Keweenaw. The road out is a lot better than high rock bay but you will have to be careful. There's a few spots you could bottom out of you're not careful as of August 23.
Another spot on our August 2022 trip to Copper Harbor that we were able to check off our bucket list. The scale of the harbor is grand! The rock formations jutting from Lake Superior and inland were immense. I would never have imagined! We were able to swim, rock climb, and look for agates. Picture perfect day other than the stable flies. Even so we stayed for a couple hours. Battling them was worth it just to see such a natural place. The hike in was easy enough about a half mile or so and plenty of parking.
This was a surprisingly cool place to visit. Discovered at the end of US-41 and followed the dirt road and the signs. The road was a tad bit rough and maybe if there was more rain it would have been difficult for a car, but trucks and jeeps should be able to navigate it without a problem.
The hike to the beach starts at two yellow posts that lead down a red stone path. It's a fairly easy hike but watch your step on the roots, a lot stick out and you can trip on them. The beach is a stone beach and great if you are a rock hunter. I didn't have the time but I do want to go back there with a black light to check for yooper lite but that will be for another time. Otherwise this is a great little spot to go and check out.
Awesome hike but road in is really really rough! Take a 4wd with good ground clearance.
Well worth the drive to this secluded, rocky beach! Note that you will need to traverse two gravel roads to get here, the second is more narrow and rutted, but not a big problem. A short hike down to the beach (1/3 of a mile) for cool views, fun exploring and rock hunting.

We have a summer home in Marquette. Over the years we have expanded our trips to the UP to include camping and waterfall visits. This was one of our first camping trips. Such a beautiful area. A bit hard to find as our GPS took us down a dirt road a
Awesome little hike off the side of the road. If you start the hike at the sign and head down to the overlook, you can have a beautiful site of the falls. If you're more adventurous, then take the path to the right of the overlook, and you can walk u
Great spot to look for Yooper rocks. The trails are quite bumpy with tree roots and rocks so you really have to pay attention! Easy to walk around once you are at the waters edge. We went to the right off the stairs. Parking was available and free. N
Such a cool and trendy gift store. We loved it and discovered discounted items to take home to remind us of our wonderful stay in Copper Harbor. Really nice and helpful employees.
We all had a wonderful meal. It's a higher end restaurant. The presentation, food and prices reflect that. You will get what you pay for. Gourmet food!
Great little hike! The old growth trees are spectacular. What a blessing that someone thought to save this area. Combined with a couple other short hikes to make a spectacular day.
This place is perfect. We loved the view out the back. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Beds were comfy. The owners are great. We talked to two families who have been staying there annually for decades. There is a great little ice c
We went up for fall colors and stayed in log cabins (heated but you can make your own fire). Breakfast is included and delicious! We purchased a picnic basket dinner and grilled our own burgers with some additional fixings! Staff and chef are super
