As a frequenter of Coolidge Corner, can’t believe we didn’t know about this place until yesterday, but now we’ve found a favorite American restaurant/bar in this intersection. Their low key storefront is easy to be overlooked, but should you have the mood to try them out on Friday night, you’d be instantly hooked by their vibe, service, drinks and food.
Too many highlights but in a few bullets:
- tapas actually in good serving size
- their fruit punch beer is so delicious
- white table cloth in a relaxing setting!
- attentive and thoughtful servers
- bar, high tops, table—options for different groups
- their food quality is top notch.
- Steak tips with mashed potato—LOVE.
- mussels with jalapeño—LOVE.
- all veggie dishes are cooked to perfection too. See my photos.
So glad we found this restaurant that I want to write about it and share it with the community on a Saturday morning during my brunch. Okay, now I gotta eat or my food will get cold.
This sounds cliché, but I wish I found this place earlier!
The vibe is good and white tablecloths is a big plus. Everyone is super friendly!
The food and beers are killing and I’m willing to do 50 notorious burpees for their steak tips. What’s more, the serving is in light speed, faster than heating frozen foods by microwave.
Came with a group here and we had a blast . Great smells plates like tapas styles .. drinks were strong and good. The staff as well as David the owner was amazing here . Great place for get together.
Food:
We tried the bulgogi empanadas, birria steak tacos, bourbon steak tips, and tandoori roasted cauliflower. Everything was about average, and nothing stood out as being great or bad. The empanadas were alright, but I personally didn't think the flavors were a great combination so I didn't see it as a great fusion dish. The steak tacos and steak tips were decent, but just didn't stand out in any way. The cauliflower had great spices, but the odd thing was that we only got five pieces of cauliflower, which feels like a small amount for a relatively cheap ingredient. Perhaps some of the other food or drinks I didn't try is better.
Service:
The service was great. We were checked on frequently and never waited very long for anything.
Another Google find. Our server Isabella was great to work with. Very attentive. We shared the Farmers Salad with (very dry) falafel and amazing citrus vinaigrette dressing plus a few delicious olives. I had the super tender and tasty bourbon steak tips with yucca fries that we both really enjoyed. White tablecloth on every indoor table. We also liked that all staff were wearing their masks. We can highly recommend Hops N Scotch.
The drink selection is extensive, the bartenders are knowledgeable and courteous, and the food is fantastic. Every small and large plate has clearly been fine-tuned over and over, with generous portions of delicious food.
My husband and I had our 1-year anniversary party at Hops and Scotch with about 120 people and we can't recommend this amazing place enough to other couples or folks looking to host a large gathering. Every part of the process was such a joy and so easy thanks to the team's incredible attention to detail and willingness to make all sorts of dietary adjustments to cater to my gluten free self and some vegan friends and family. SERIOUSLY if you have food allergies - this place is the BEST for finding insanely delicious alternatives for all diets and lifestyles, especially for a big event. When the event night happened, everything looked amazing and tasted even better! Our friends and family have been raving about the ambiance, food and drink every since, and there is truly nothing we would re-do because everything came out as perfect as possible for a large, live party. I work in events professionally, and I can't get over how smooth, calm and joyous the whole thing felt. We've been patrons for years and recommend that you 1. Get there ASAP for delicious food and drinks and 2. Seriously consider hosting your wedding/event there.
The food is so good!! Everything came out fresh, hot, the home fries are the best!!! I highly recommend the Tres Leches French toast as well.
Came in at prime brunch time on a Sunday and was seated quickly, the waitress, Alex, was amazing, timely. I never felt rushed, great brews on tap. The vibe is very cool, if you’re in the area stop in for a beer on tap, and if you’re not in the area go check it out anyways!
The Turkish dumplings were delicious! The dumplings alone taste great. The sauce and the oil give the dumplings a tangy taste which brings the entree together. The customer service was welcoming and friendly. Definitely recommend!

The Samuel Sewall Inn is open! I found my way to rent a room for a month. It has only been one day and I am totally in love with the owners, the property manager, the room and the installations. It's sort of an old mansion with much personality and b
Don't be like us and show up the week before Thanksgiving expecting to get a pie. There were also extending circumstances that affected their pie production. Regardless, we enjoyed their pastries and drinks, as well as their friendly service and woul
