My fiancé and I had an amazing time celebrating my milestone birthday in Maui at the wonderful Ho’olio House. Everything was seamless from start to finish. We stayed in the Kipuka Suite, which was a dream. From the soaking tub to the outdoor shower providing a great view of the sunset and garden, it offered both seclusion and privacy. Each morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and great conversations and smiles from Dan and Amy. Their recommendations, from whale tours to poke spots and hiking trails, were fantastic. We had the opportunity to take a few dips in the pool and watch the sunset in awe. Our trip to Maui was spectacular, but our accommodations truly made the trip magical. Can’t wait to return!
I live in Launiopoko, the same community as the Ho'olio House, our home is small and we have my mother and son-in-law come in for the Holiday, we could not fit my mother in the house so we put her in the Ho'oilo House for the week, its only about a 1/4 mile from my residence. The place was great, the owners are very friendly and the views are amazing. Nothing beats the sound of water running and the plumeria scent that is always permeating the air. I will be using these guys for all my family that comes to visit .
We stayed for our Honeymoon in July 2023, and it was a fabulous visit! The property is wonderful, peaceful and in a beautiful location, hidden away enough to feel secluded, but close enough to Lahaina to enjoy local activities such as surfing, shopping, lu'au's etc. |There's enough parking for a car for each room, but it's also easy to get an Uber or Lyft if wanted. ||We had the Kohala room, which faced the ocean and every morning we'd have our breakfast outside our room and watch the ocean which was lovely. |Although the room itself is small, the bed is SO comfortable!!!! It's high, so if you're not flexible at all, you'd struggle to get in and out, so that's just something to be aware of when booking this room. ||The bathroom was wonderful, outdoor shower, stone bathtub! Showering on Maui, outside, under the stars was fabulous! ||For breakfast, you complete a form before 10pm the night before and leave it out for Dan to collect, then you pick up your breakfast at your chosen time and take it to anywhere you'd like to eat in/around the house. It's a nice touch as it feels really homely. Although the selection isn't huge, it was lovely and we found there was more than enough to set us up for the day if you select a few different options such as toast, a muffin, fruit bowl and a yoghurt. The muffin changes every day which is nice, I believe they're home made (they are delicious!). ||The Wifi is good, we never had any issues, even when video calling back home on a laptop. There's a safe which we find important. ||The only two things that I think would elevate this property even more:|1. Some information on recommendations on local restaurants, activities, bars etc. |2. Some small recognition for honeymooners, I appreciate that perhaps most stays are for honeymoons, but a little note with a small bottle of wine, or a local favourite sweet treat, it would just make it feel that little bit more special. ||Overall, this property was our favourite from the four we stayed across all islands!
My husband and I just travelled to Maui for our Honeymoon and stayed at the Ho'oilo House for the majority of the time. This place is an oasis. The views are incredible, the grounds are incredible, the outdoor showers and massive tub are perfect, and the breakfast is delicious. The weather is so nice that the doors just stay open and it's so peaceful. We cannot recommend this place enough!
Ho'oilo House was the accommodation we planned our entire honeymoon around and it was SO worth it! It really is a perfect oasis of beauty and calm. The outdoor shower was absolutely amazing, and we were lucky enough to be greeted by rainbows each morning we were there. Breakfast on our lanai was the perfect start to each day. We also had massages on our lanai organized by Dan which made for a perfect lazy honeymoon morning. We were already dreaming of coming back before we'd even left! Thanks for an unforgettable stay!
We stayed three nights at Ho’oilo House for our honeymoon and it was amazing! It has a calming, relaxed feel to it and you’re only 10-15 mins away from amazing restaurants and multiple beaches.
Dan was very helpful throughout our stay and breakfast was so nice to enjoy with some of the best views my wife and I have ever seen. I would highlight recommend staying here, it’s truly one of a kind place!
Ho'oilo House is my favorite hotel I've ever stayed at. We were there for 5 nights and are already plotting our return (all the way from NYC). The location is incredible -- a short drive from downtown Lahaina that is fun for shopping, dinner, and drinks, and close to a bunch of amazing beaches. We stayed in 2 rooms during our stay and both had comfortable beds, amazing outdoor showers, outdoor patios, and great views. The entire place has a welcoming and laid back vibe while also being incredibly stylish and thoughtfully designed. My boyfriend was sitting by the pool on our first day, and one of the owners, Dan, came by and handed him a beer. Dan was always nearby and accessible throughout our stay if we had a question or needed a recommendation, but it never felt like he was overbearing at all. There are 6 rooms at Ho'oilo House, but we rarely saw anyone else except during breakfast time (breakfast was prepared by Dan and delicious!). We often had the pool to ourselves if we wanted to relax there in the morning or during sunset. I have zero critiques or complaints about Ho'oilo House -- we can't wait for our next visit and would highly recommend it to any friends or family going to visit Maui!
Absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend staying here. Run by Dan and Amy and it was an awesome mix of feeling like you were staying in a friend's beautiful guest home while having all the privacy you wanted. I was able to text Dan for beach chairs, and random questions and he was always quick to response. Also the guest house has four huge private rooms with patios and outdoor showers and its absolutely stunning. All Japanese architecture and decor. Beautiful view of Maui and the Pacific Ocean. The pool is gorgeous. And there's delicious breakfast served each morning if you want it. Also the location is perfect. It's tucked away up the mountainside, but an 8-minute drive to all the restaurants and shops from Lahaina. Beautiful beaches nearby. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
