When you visit the San Francisco Bay Area, I highly recommend going to Hong Kong Clay Pot. This was a hidden gem of a restaurant. After a stroll in Chinatown, enter the doorway and up the stairs to excellent dinner. We were greeted by the hostess/server. She was friendly and helpful directing us to our table. Tea was served. We ordered the salt and pepper chicken wings, wonton soup and stir fried spicy green beans with chicken. Delivered to our table by the chef himself. All highly recommend. The meal was excellent. I suspect everything on the menu would be just as delicious. Another plus was that the dinner didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Also, we given a free 2024 year of the dragon calendar. Definitely a place to plan a visit.

Best authentic Chinese restaurant in San Francisco! The owners are super nice and friendly!! Good service. Foods were delicious. Big portions. Prices are reasonable. Traditional Chinese decoration. Family business. I always like to support small business rather than going to chain or fancy restaurants. Definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant in SF Chinatown. Highly recommend it!! Must try!

Ordered the salted fish and chicken fried rice, really good. Clam with black bean sauce also great. Would recommend both. Hot and Sour soup was missing something, tasted fine but didn't offer much. Orange Chicken was bad though. It barely had any orange flavor and more akin to sweet chicken. Would not recommend.

Sizzling clay pot! Decent Hong Kong food in generous portions. Wonton soup is gentle and tasty. It has about six pieces of wontons so it’s also perfect to share. Also comes with bok choi. Bitter melon isn’t very common in restaurants because the vegetable is bitter. The chef handled it well. Pot stickers are actually fried dumplings… Food is quite oily in general but otherwise tastes good. Service is friendly and fast. Price is good. Somehow Chinatown feels quite empty in the evening.

Decent restaurant all around. However, I wish the servers were more helpful selecting food from the menu (it’s veryyyy overwhelming). The service was good, slow at times, and the ambience overall was good.

Love this hidden gem. Google pointed me in the right direction. Loved the orange chicken and chicken fried rice. The walk is steep up the stairs so be careful but otherwise, I enjoyed the charm of walking up the stairs. And we sat at a window seat and loved the view down from the second floor. First time in Chinatown so it was a great stop along the way.

This was a very CUTE place! This little hidden gem was exactly that. The hospitality made us feel right at home. Just like if I was visiting my aunts house. ☺️ The FOOD 🤤 the food was like nothing I’ve tasted before. We were automatically served a Jasmine tea which we loved. We had hot and sour soup and egg flower soup to start and enjoyed several entrees. Don’t miss it, just look for the stairs and head right on up. They’ll be happy to see you.

Food is great. Giving it 4 star for the authentic Chinese experience. Interior is a bit old and dusty. Other than that really enjoyed the two visits here.

Love all the food we got.... Won tons and curry beef brisket is a must... Skip the milk tea though... Too milky and the tea is not strong enough. XLBs are huge and so much soup!
