Homewood Suites by Hilton University City Philadelphia, PA - Featured Reviews (1024)
I should’ve read the reviews before booking. Seems like this hotel is notorious for terrible service and poor housekeeping. Our room was cleaned 1 of 3 nights and we had to call three times for blankets and sheets to cover mattress. Only for them to bring a blanket and never come back with sheets! What a crazy experience. Valet wasn’t bad. NEVER booking again
The people are nice but this place has the slowest valet parking I've ever experienced. There is only 1 person doing valet at a time. Need to get somewhere on time? I suggest leaving EXTRA early. It took 25 to 30 minutes to get our car every time as there was always a line. The valet guy is nice..but understaffed is an understatement. Maybe it's because I told this hotel that we have a toddler with us when I booked (I've never had this problem at a Hilton before) but we must have had the worst king 1 bedroom suite in the hotel. Chair was broken in the living room (the legs wobbled). The couch made noises everytime you moved. The light fixture in the kitchen was cracked. The closet door was off the track. Dents and broken pieces in the wooden kitchen chairs. The room was broken down but it was clean- which again speaks on the great staff. We actually left a night early as we didn't find this room to be anything special. The pool and gym are in the lobby, basically. Be prepared to walk through the lobby (wet suit/sweaty, kids in tow, wet flipflops and all) to go back to your room (infront of everyone checking in and those sitting in the lobby). Again, staff was the best part of the hotel. They were kind and knowledgeable. Breakfast area was clean and there were a lot of options. If it wasn't for the staff being so nice- I would have been a "Karen" though.
Not a bad place for a long-term stay. Breakfast is well done, and the weight room/ pool area is nicely maintained. Service was touch and go, I was there for several days and received no housekeeping the entire time. I also had issues with the mirror/closet door that others mentioned as well. All the staff I interacted with (except one desk staff) were welcoming and kind.
Stayed for 10 nights. Didnt have my room cleaned for 6 nights. No shampoo or body wash. I shouldnt have to ask for my room to be cleaned and have shampoo. Spent $3500 to stay. Rooms are large but outdated. $45 a night for parking. Valet was the only positive aspect, they did well. For a night or two you can get by, but there are so many better places to stay that cost the same. I travel every week for work, never write a review but this place deserves an honest post.
Overall loved it! Room was just a little tight for being a premium room. Bedroom was great but the kitchen living space was quite tight especially bringing the luggage cart in. Staff was super friendly and attentive and the hotel is walking distance to great restaurants. Definitely would stay here again!
Excellent care! James, Alex, Housekeeping, front desk, & Valet staff were very kind, caring, and helpful! They went out of their way to assist! Staff was tolerant, understanding, and resolved issues expedient! The rooms were very clean and toilet, sinks, utilities were well maintained/in good-working order. I will stay at the Hilton Homewood in Philadelphia again!
Vijii and Amy along the rest of the hotel staff were excellent hosts and made my stay a wonderful experience. Fantastic experience! The staff were friendly and attentive, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay. Would visit again!
The only thing good about this room was the quiet location. I don't think I will stay here again. I would rather stay in the Center City or Fashion District area. The shower had the absolute worst water pressure, and it seemed to get worse as you took a shower. The handle in the shower was completely loose making it a safety hazard. I was charged for my full room at 7:30 am. before I even checked in at the hotel. I have never been charged the full amount before I checked into a Hilton Resort, and I exclusively stay at Hilton Resorts. I had to pay a $50 early check-in fee even though clearly there were plenty of rooms available. The room smelled of marijuana as soon as I opened the door. I don't know what kind of perks there are to be in a Hilton Honors member, but there didn't seem to be any at this hotel.
