Didn’t expect the Ritz but the room was insanely run down and dirty. Paint splatter on all the furniture. Desk chair couldn’t have looked in more rough shape. Various “discolorations” on the walls. Large chips in the furniture. Rust in the bathtub. Tops to the coffee cups were two sizes too big. Elevator sounded like a death trap (I believe the inspection expired). Never saw anyone at the front desk the entire time I was there. I spent half of December in various Hilton hotels and this easily took the prize for will never stay in again. I will say the lobby looked nice. Seemed better suited for a ski resort than the Crabtree mall.
Homewood is always a winner. Been staying in these for years. Breakfast and dinner provided. Helps save on per diem!! Kitchenette is useful for cooking and prepping for long stays. Staff is always cordial and helpful. Price is comparable to other hotels but they do not provide 2 meals.
This was by far the worst experience we have ever had at a Hilton Homewood Suites hotel. As Honors members who have not stayed in a Hilton since pre-pandemic, I must say the Hilton brand is leaving me wanting to switch to another hotel chain! In 2019, we were beginning to notice these hotels becoming more and more rundown and lacking in several areas, however. As die-hard members, we really wanted to hold up the Hilton banner, BUT our recent thankfully short stay at THIS HOTEL was disastrous!||||I would not recommend this hotel for these TOP 10 reasons:||||1. Weird, dead bugs were on the curtains upon entry.||2. Live bugs were hanging all over the outside balcony.||3. The room smelled mildewed and smoky.||4. The furniture & carpet were old and very rundown.||5. The cabinets and other furniture had dings and cracks--not appealing.||6. AC stopped working; repairperson could not fix it. We had to move to another room which was welcomed--until we got there. Guess what?? There were dead bugs on the curtains in there, too! And the furniture and carpet were just as rundown--horrible.||7. We purchased bug spray as a precaution and sprayed the room--more dead bugs appeared on the carpet and in the bathroom the next day.||8. Smoke (cigarette and other) smells came inside the room via the vents--quite strong. My husband coughed most of the stay due to asthma.||9. We saw two huge rats frolicking by the dumpster outside of the hotel as we arrived at night.||10. A few vagrants were loitering around outside by the entrance to the hotel parking lot.||||Good Points: The welcoming staff was amazing! Oh, and the second room had a view that allowed for a beautiful bird to perch each morning on a tree branch outside my window. ||||Exiting and vowing to never return was actually the best part of our stay! We laughed a lot, too because we knew this would be our last time there--for sure!||||Please do not go there, travelers! ||||Researching Another Hotel Chain.....
If you're looking for a rustic, nostalgic feel that takes you back to the early 2000s, then this is the place. It is also a good option if you have multiple people that you need plenty of room to spread out.
However, if you are looking for a modern place to stay for a business trip, while spending the same relative dollars as other options in the area, I don't think this is the place.
From what I can tell by the commissioning date on the elevator, it was opened 25 years ago. It seems that whoever manages/owns this hotel has decided to simply take the money grab and wait for things to fail before updating.
Speaking of the elevator, it looks like it is well past its inspection date. I'm writing this in October and the inspection was in June 2022. I'm pretty sure that elevators are supposed to be inspected within a year in NC. With a 25 y.o. elevator, I think this should be a little higher priority.
Sure, they have the usual Hilton breakfast option, but it isn't offered until 6:30 during the week. If you are catering to business people, it should be closer to 5:30.
I'll give 1 ⭐ just for the water pressure in the shower. You definitely won't have any dirt left on you after getting out. But it's a regular tub with a shower curtain. I venture to say that just about every other hotel in this category would have an enclosure.
One almost comical event that I witnessed was when I went down to get a snack from the snack bar. I picked up my soda and small bag of M&M and was waiting to pay. The guy in front of me was getting the same thing and was in an altercation with the clerk about the price. The price list listed the candy (M&M specifically), at $2, but the bag had $4. Guess who the win went to.
I have stayed in another hotel within this group just down the road a few months ago, and was much more impressed. It was virtually the same price and it felt worth the payment.
I'll be skipping this property and going back to where I stayed before the next time I'm here.
Just do not stay here.
There were so many things wrong with this outdated, barely functioning hotel. The ONLY highlights were Tabitha and the housekeeping. The wood floor has separated due to long running leaks from the ice maker, which I had to help fix. The sauce pan looks ancient and is non stick with tons of scrapes out of the surface. The main elevator is about to die, like the one next to it that has been down for months. The business center had been down for months and I fixed it in ten minutes. Not my job as a guest. No conditioner on the shower wall. The tub has flaky brown stuff of the bottom. The tub diverter is frozen in place. Most of the pairs of fixtures have different color light bulbs in them. The ac only works sometimes. The bathroom light randomly quits working. Walls are stained. Bathroom door frame was cracked. Kitchen drawer front was falling off.
Simply not Hilton quality.
This hotel is too large to only have one working elevator. It has two elevators , but I've stayed here several times due to work travel, and it's always only one that's working, the same one, and it's old and slow. It's very outdated, especially the bathrooms. A lot of receptacles do not work properly. Some things seem a little off about the place, too. 🤨
The breakfast attendant Angie was Very kind and Helpful. The location is great as well! The morning front desk attendant Lashawnda was very sweet and kind as well! Would definitely recommend coming here!
Had to stay here for home repairs to be completed. The room staff and front desk were amazing but breakfast staff were pretty rude. Yes, they serve many people and have to do it safely but a staff member's name was taken and the incident will be reported.
Other than that staffer being rude, this hotel isn't really what Hilton is known for but will accommodate your needs satisfactory.
