We checked into Homewood Suites after a horrendous stay at a previous hotel nearby. The hotel manager, Brendan listened to our horror story and reassured us that we are in safe hands. He was correct! We stayed 15 nights and we didn't want to leave!!!! We got to know the staff and guests at the hotel. Everyone was friendly and professional. The hotel is clean!!! Breakfast was delicious! Good coffee!! Every Wednesday there was a get together with salads, cheese board, wine, soups etc. We enjoyed the pool and whirlpool spa. Clean and plenty of pool towels! The greatest compliment to the staff that I can give is that the hotel felt like home!!! So aptly named too!!!
We stay here while visiting family locally. The rooms are spacious and staff are friendly. I like that the rooms have kitchens with fridge, microwave, sink and diahwasher. Housekeeping is sporadic. It was supposed to be every other day but on the third day of our stay we had to ask for housekeeping and fresh towels. Complimentary breakfast is barely edible. We find local places for breakfast.
Unfortunately, this wasn't the experience I had hoped for. First, I was assigned a room that was already occupied. Thank God the woman was coming out of the room when I was headed in, or I would've walked in on her! Next, the elevator broke down & it was 3 flights up & down each time I had to go somewhere. Then, the room itself had a broken TV & a broken dishwasher. I was never offered any type of comp for these issues.
OK hotel. Make sure to park in front. The hotel shares space with a mall. Did not give the impression of 'safety.' A car parked behind hotel was missing all its tires and the police were there when we went for our morning walk. The front desk service was good. Housekeeping however was not. Kitchen trash had not been emptied, and carpets were sticky. The light switch plates, cabinets and frig handles, and counters had sticky residue (like jelly). I had to wipe down everything with lysol. The dishwasher still had dirty dishes. But the bed was clean and comfortable. Bathroom soap dispensers were empty. Breakfast was good. Dining facilities were OK. I would not stay here again as it did not make a great impression on me. However, if you have business in Manchester, I can see this as an adequate hotel.
Stay was good however seen a woman or man unsure because the car windows were slightly dark ,outside in a golden brown vehicle drinking booze that appeared to be a hotel employee . Room was nice and stay was good however we were shocked to see that you allow your employees to drink on the job hanging outside then return back to work totally unacceptable .
The staff were pleasant and helpful, but there were too many instances where we needed to ask for help. The conditioner bottle in our shower was empty, the pool had no towels, our room only had two shower sized towels for 4 people to share, all of the dishes in our room's kitchenette were put away with food still on them, and at the breakfast buffet there were no trays out to bring breakfast upstairs. When we did ask for a tray, it could barely fit one plate on it- not helpful for a parent wishing to carry food back up to the kids. Our family was also disappointed there was no accessible outlet near the TV. We had brought our fire stick so the kids could stream a movie, but there was no where to plug it in without an extension cord. The TV was attached to the furniture, and the furniture attached to the wall (and covering the outlet where the TV was plugged) so there was no way to set up the fire stick. Movie night=ruined. In addition, the pool was well below safe swimming temperatures. We tried using the hot tub instead, but the foam on top was several inches thick and nearly spilling over the edges onto the concrete. Hot tubs should have little to no foam, and this looked like a bubble bath. We eventually gave up and the kids decided to shower and read instead. (Parents- there is no bathtub). The pull out sofa was more comfortable than expected, and the bed in our room was also decent. Note that there is a strict policy limiting your room to only 4 people, regardless of age. If you and your spouse have three little ones, you will need to choose a different hotel.
If you want to stay in a home-like environment. Then I recommend staying here. You're in the center of everything, and the rooms feel like studio apartments. It's not like the rooms across the parking lot that offer just that. Rooms. All though I felt it was understaffed, the staff that is there are professional and polite. They have a tempered pool, jacuzzi, and gym. I'm not much of a pool guy, but if there's a gym and jacuzzi, I'm in there.
Prior to visiting UConn, I stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Hartford Manchester. Overall, it was a decent experience. The hotel offers what you'd typically anticipate from a Homewood Suites and for the area: a decent room with basic amenities and a complimentary breakfast. I do want to acknowledge the fantastic check-in experience. There were some issues with my reservation and the front desk staff were extremely helpful and worked with me to resolve them.||The rooms were somewhat clean, but there are a couple of areas for improvement. My suggestions to the hotel management would be to remove the mold in the shower and the dust in the room, as well as update the elevators as they showed signs of wear and could benefit from a revamp. However, they were still functional so I can't complain.||Overall, if you're seeking a convenient stay near UConn with clean, updated rooms, the Homewood Suites by Hilton Hartford Manchester is a solid choice. There aren't many other options in the area since it's located in a desolate part of Connecticut.
