A really lovely family place for a quick stay. The front desk and all the staff were all so friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and having a kitchen was great. The facilities, gym, pool and hot breakfast were also great!
Nice new property with good sized rooms. Good breakfast and plenty of parking. Location wasn't ideal until we found the Ska Brewery a few blocks up the hill. On Thu they have a BBQ with live music and good food. Highly recommend if you are there to drive or walk up. Sat outside on a beautiful evening and had a wonderful time.
Nice location on the east side of town. Just 2 miles from historical district. Room and building look new and are well maintained. Large breakfast area. Breakfast was above average for hotel fare. Had eggs, a meat and other options. Staff was friendly. Room was clean. Like that the sink area is outside the toilet/shower area which makes getting ready easy if there are two staying in the room. Good shower pressure. Kitchen was actually stocked with plates, dishes, glasses and pans. Only complaint was the highway noise which even on the back side of the hotel it was very noisy. When a hotel builds right on a highway they need to use noise proof windows.
Ordell Platero (manager of Homewood suites) is the best- and NO I am not related to him!! We have stayed at this hotel several times and we are always happy with the accommodations. Staff is very friendly, front desk staff, housekeeping staff and kitchen staff. Hotel is very clean, newer compared to other Hiltons in Durango, is in a great location and right across the street from the bike path. We use to be regular's at the Double tree but they are in need of huge renovations and it is way too pricy for the outdated unkept hotel. this is the best Hilton to stay at while in Durango!
Nice clean place. I love the full sized refrigerator they have here; You don't usually see a full sized refrigerator at hotels. They do have a kitchen also. About 2 miles away from the main downtown street. Nice lobby and dining area.
We had a great experience with the staff and the hotel was nice. Ordell, Dalton, and the ladies working the food area at the managers' reception were all fantastic. Ordell made sure we felt at home with crayons, sheets to color, and rubber duckies. He also checked on us before he left for the night. It's truly hard to find this anymore.
We had a quick 2 nights stay with two young kids on a family vacation trip in October. Overall this is a great hotel with spacious rooms and everything we needed. ||||***Location and Parking***||The hotel is next to highway 160 in the south side of the town. It is about 3 miles south of Durango downtown area. There seems to be a small shopping mall across the highway 160, we didn’t need to go, only remember seeing TJ Maxx there, no grocery store or restaurant. So, you will definitely need vehicle to go anywhere. Durango is a very small town, so where you stay does not really matter as long as it is a good quality hotel.||||Parking is very tight at night even during the off-peak season like October when we were there. ||||***Facility and Room***||This is a newer looking facility although it is 10 years old. The facility has been very well maintained with pretty much everything in good working order. We had a one-bedroom suite, which is very spacious comparing to a standard hotel room. There are probably very few one-bedroom suites as when we checked in there was only one available. Most suites here do not have separate bedroom (no wall between living area and the beds) as we saw, so they are not called one-bedroom suite. You can see which room is bigger in size in the floor map on the Hilton app. The suite has kitchen area where you can actually cook if you want, it has dishwasher, full size refrigerator, full size microwave, etc. The living room and bedroom each has its own TV, so our kids could watch something differently while we watched something else, which was nice. ||||The only complain we had was the huge air conditioning roof top unit outside our 3rd floor window, it is the AC unit for the lobby/dining hall, and it is very loud when it is on. We were glad it was not on during night since it was very cool at night in October already, and we didn’t stay inside room during the day when it runs. So, if you have a choice, do not pick any 3rd floor south facing room. ||||***Wifi***||It is worth to note the wifi here in the facility is weak/spotty/intermittent. I do not usually review this for hotels nowadays as almost all hotels have good wifi networks. In our room, we lost network every several minutes. This might be a problem if you have to have continuous and consistent wifi (for work/meeting/etc.). ||||***Hot Breakfast***||Hot breakfast is definitely a plus when you have young kids, so you don’t need to look for breakfast every morning. This hotel has the typical simple “hot breakfast” that Hilton offers at this hotel’s star level. Simple things but sufficient and good enough.|| ||The breakfast area was very crowded in the morning for both days we were there. The first day was great with everything under control and items got refilled quickly. The second day was not so good with most of the items running out and not being refilled. Not sure why the two days were so different. ||||***Staff***||Hotel staffs are great in general. Front desk staffs would greet you and help answering any questions, same for other staffs you encountered throughout the facility. Might need at least another breakfast staff each shift so they can keep up with the refills and cleanings in the morning. ||||||***Overall***||This is a little bit more expensive hotel comparing with other hotels in the area, but with the spacious suite it is worth the extra money spent. We would stay here again next time in the area. One small note if it matters to you is during the entire stay, we were the only minority, just keep that in mind.
I work for a local health company and frequently send our staff to stay at Homewood Suites in Durango. Ordell in the sales department is so awesome to work with. He goes out of his way to make sure his clients are taken care of. He’s quick with responses and really pays attention to what’s going on at the property. His communication is impeccable. Thank you to the Homewood Suites team & Ordell for taking such great care of my teammates.
