Came into Sago super excited about the new spot and loved the ambiance. Unfortunately that is all it was. We went out for a girls night out and the experience put a damper on the entire evening. We waited 20 mins to be greeted by a server , first round of drinks we amazing (N9) the second round of the same drinks were horrible, watered down & sour and waiting 25 mins to receive them. Had to get a manager involved and he ended up taking care of the second round. Food was underwhelming, for the price point .. not worth it . We ordered the oysters, tune tartare, salmon & margarita pizza . The oysters were very fishy and did not have a good taste, the salmon was very undercooked & the best part of the tartare was the crackers that came with it . To make matters works 3/5 of my friends including me ended up getting food poisoning and have been sick all day . Would not recommend unless you want to lay in bed all day sick to your stomach . Super disappointing .

Came here to leave a review because I saw so many negative ones. I was nervous that we made the wrong choice, but tbh just got back and everything was awesome! Super cute and trendy vibe. Amazing service, food was good. We had the tuna tartar, Brussels sprouts, pizza, and salmon. Loved the Brussels sprouts! The salmon said it was seared on the menu so it was expected it was not well done. Next time I would prob ask for it to be cooked a little longer but that’s it. Overall, super cute and def want to come back!

Technically the restaurant wasn't open but we had a close friend pass away and they opened the spot so we could have the memorial as it was her favorite location. Thank you from the deepest part of our hearts. You made the service truly special and comfortable for all. It was a very sad evening but because of you and your team we were able to grieve with each other and celebrate the life of our dear friend. There is no way to tell you how thankful everyone is.

Went for dinner/drinks- here are a couple takeaways for people to consider and suggestions. Atmosphere and the decor is chic and a unique experience for Encinitas. The space doesn’t know what it is, and neither do the patrons. There is enough staff and tables for a full blown restaurant but there is so much ambiguity. I saw people coming in, loitering by the bar, looking confused and walking out. The space is not a full blown restaurant nor a bar. I believe there needs to be a heavier focus on one or the other for this to succeed. Regardless the Hostesses need more training on creating a high class experience for guests if people are dining. Service was extremely slow. Our waitress was so pleasant and sweet BUT here are my recommendations: the first interaction with our waitress was 15 minutes after being seated. There was a lot of staff waiting by the bar and we didn’t even receive water 10 minutes in. This meant that by the time we had our first interaction with our waitress we had decided on not only drinks, but food as well. With so much time we ordered right away and the food came out a few minutes before the first drink arrived. This will result in loss of money for the restaurant as it doesn’t give patrons enough time to start drinking their first drink, and then order another one during dinner. Our table was a great example as we only had one drink, and then decided against getting another as the dinner course had already been cleared and there doesn’t seem to be dessert available…or at least it wasn’t offered. Our sense was that the bar seems to be backed up and most likely needs streamlining to address the above issues. Lastly, please put purse hooks at tables and at the bar.

It is nice to see this restaurant open again and people enjoying their food and drinks. It must’ve been tough not having any outdoor seating during such a challenging time. The menu has Tacos, Wings, Burgers and Ceviche, and it is all very tasty. It’s a super chill environment with plenty of televisions to watch the game, giant open windows to watch people walking by, and a very friendly team that work there. Upstairs is a private bar that’s only open on the weekends. And they feature the signature beers from Thorn and cocktails from Rebru. This time I got the shrimp ceviche, Korean barbecue wings and as always, I got their homemade tater tot’s. All very good.

Read this review if you want an honest local review of the new SAGO (used to be Home and Away). I’ve been going to home and away with friends the past two years for a fun night out in Encinitas. Bouncing between places like Shelter and 1st street bar as well. After going to the new SAGO, I was extremely disappointed to find out I won’t be returning here again. Bouncers at the front are completely unaware what city they are in, 50 degrees outside on a cold December night they would not let us in because of VANS SHOES and a HOODIE stay warm. A beach city such as Encinitas you can expect a lot of the young nightlife to wear VANS shoes out. I can understand the hoodie but after I took it off they found something else to call us out on. The next weekend came to try again and was disappointed walking into the crammed place that is no longer a place to have fun with friends but to be judged by others. I won’t be back and I’m sure others won’t be either…

Pretty good fish tacos and very good beer. A little bit quiet on a Sunday night but that's alright. Bartenders were friendly (and cute) so that was a plus

Got attacked by a 6'3 steroided out gym bro at the bar and the bouncer did nothing of course :) I was leaving paying at the bar with my first drink with a friend and this guy turns around asks I'm mad I cut him. Pushes me from my chest flips my brand new drink out of my hand and it goes flying everywhere. His girlfriend who's only looking at the bar turns around assumes I threw it on him because she got wet from the whole incident. She starts screaming at me at the same time the guy has his buddy take a picture of him behind my friend and I flexing over us like he won. I tell the bouncer, he doesn't believe my friend and I (two girls) and actually asked me if I've ever graduated from middle school because he claimed its a game of he said / she said. I also asked him why the guy would take a picture flexing over us and the bouncer told me he has a right to do that and take the picture. As I was leaving because it was so disrespectful what happened (the other people stayed) I was telling the bouncer outside what happened and he was listening as normal, the bouncer from inside came out and told him that I was just trying to convince him of my side and basically to stop listening to me. If the bouncer had a brain cell he might wonder why would two girls who are little compared to this guy choose to throw a brand new drink they just bought at a random stranger. Also have enough empathy to understand yes I'm 28 and probably did graduate from middle school. I went to the police since he did nothing to listen to the fact I was assaulted in Home & Away. Advise everyone not to go there because the 28 year old brown haired white bouncer won't protect girls that get attacked only other men of course :)
