Wonderful suburban campground that feels like its a lot farther from civilization that it is. Most of the RV campsites we saw were nicely wooded with more privacy than most state or national parks. Electricity was available with some of the campsites. And since this wasn't a large campground, the bathroom, drinking water, and dump station were never crowded. Rangers were friendly and helpful. And the weekend we stayed had families and couples. We plan to come back and stay again.
I love this park I come here every year.....and will continue to do so it has a beautiful waterfall playground Parks my dogs are accepted it's wonderful the bathroom's may need an upgrade...... but hey......you're in the woods
Had a great time with our new rPod 190. Staff was friendly and campground was fairly quiet. Each site has a table and fire ring. You can book some sites that have electric hookups. I don't believe there are any water hookups. Water and dumping station is located near bath house. Dog friendly sites and dogs must be leashed at all times.
This campground was so clean and safe! The staff was very helpful. I really enjoyed my staying over there. I will visit again for sure.
The staff was great but the website is super misleading. All the pictures are not of the actual campsites. So I thought i was renting this nice looking wooded area. What i got was this spot that literally has the driveway of another spot backed right against it. Thankfully they had 4 other posts available and they let me look at them all and transfer to the one i liked the best. The staff was super kind and helpful
Decent enough of a campground. The campsites are on the small side where the tents have to be set up in the leveled gravel area so be sure to bring some padding and or a sleeping mat. There's a decent trail that leads off from the campsite but the trail begins at the side of the campgrounds and wraps around half of the campground before really starting. You could cut through the woods but unless if your on the outside loop you might be walking through someone else's campsite. The trail could be a little better marked since there are other trails that break off from it but it will lead you down to the river. That same trail can lead to other trails if you're looking for a longer hike as well which is a nice option.
One of very few State Campgrounds in Maryland, Potapsco State Park, west of Baltimore. Very Woody, very green, a bit overgrown in areas. It's rustic. This is what we like. There is 30 amp electric only, no water at the sites. Our 36 ft RV fits in our site fine with room to spare. Picnic table and fire pits. Restrooms are old, but clean. Camp hosts were very nice, sites were kept clean. Rangers available and very helpful. Best kept secret.
I give it an extra star for convenience, it's located very close to a Walmart and multiple Asian grocers, if you happen to forget anything it's 10 mins away from literally anything. Since it is so close to the city it can get end up with full sites and some groups don't abide by quiet hours rules all that well. If you want definite quiet and to be away from people this probably isn't the spot for you. The sites are decently sized and all have a picnic table and fire pit/grill. Room for at least 2 tents, the firewood is typically pretty damp and can take some work to get a decent fire going so we usually use charcoal for the grill and the remaining heat to dry the wood. There are showers and full restrooms but they could use some updating. We typically stay here at least once a year as a warmup trip to check gear for a more remote excursion. Site 451 floods in the rain.
