Holiday Inn Express South Lake Tahoe, an IHG Hotel - Featured Reviews (580)
The hotel is centrally located on the main road in Stateline (California side). It is close to the lake and many restaurants. Interaction with the front desk staff at check in and check out were friendly and professional. We had a sizable two-room suite with two king beds, which is an unusual setup. It was good for a family of 4. We think there are two of these suites total at the property. The room was clean and functional with good lighting array and options. The bathroom had two sinks, a walk-in shower and a tub-based shower. One area that the bathroom could improve is to have a night light setting. Although the room was directly above a driveway / underpass linking the front and back parking lot, noise was not an issue. |We enjoyed the heated pool and the hot tub, although there was a slight inconsistency on the posted hours v. the hours mentioned by the front desk staff. Breakfast buffet was good and in line with other Holiday Inn express hotels. We also appreciate that there is no extra charge for parking.
Spur of the moment solo trip to South Lake Tahoe. I intentionally did not book a hotel room before I left from my SF Bay Area home on a Monday morning expecting to snag a reasonable rate for a 1 night hotel stay on a weekday.||I had seen this hotel on YouTube and I knew this hotel would be on the top 3 on my personal choices once I arrived in South Lake Tahoe. Walked in to the lobby, was greeted by the nice front desk female employee. I asked how much for 1 night and the price she quoted was about 2 1/2 times what I saw online. She suggested to me to book my room online instead and I got a reasonable price through a third party site. She was kind enough to let me check in early. ||Hotel room is on the small side but since this was a solo trip, I had enough space for myself. Clean room, modern and clean bathroom, bed and pillows were comfortable. Bathroom amenities were quite sparse, I would not have been happy had I pad the much higher weekend price. ||This hotel’s location is a walking distance to shopping and food establishments on the California and across the stateline into Nevada. I must say I am happy for the weekday price I paid.
Stopped for the night on our way to condo in North Tahoe. Friendly staff and nice room with comfy bed and pillows. Situated in the heart of Heavenly lots to do…shopping and restaurants a plenty! Tried to do the gondola ride, but we got there just as it closed at 4 pm. Free breakfast and a nice pool. Great location….and..it was nice and quiet as it was set back off the main road. Definitely recommend!
Friendly staff, clean rooms, great service and a prime location. The location is very close within walking distance of heavenly gondola and all the shopping areas and great restaurants. Breakfast was included and nothing outstanding on the menu, only the usual suspects. Definitely coming here next time.
Came for our 20th wedding a anniversary. I have to say I was slightly hesitant to book a Holiday Inn, but they by far exceeded any expectation and made for an incredible get away. Room was huge, clean and in working order. Grounds were well-kept and very quiet. Already looking forward to going back there for a family vacation in the future and will definitely be recommending to friends and family. Price was very fair too, especially given it's a tourist town.
If the lake was closer I would’ve said 5 stars! However, everything is in close range to do anything! Want to get souvenirs? Near by. Want to get cold stone? A short walk! Definitely loved coming back to this hotel since this is my third time visiting! Breakfast is filling so no complaints there. Definitely have to wake up early to walk to the main office. Also there are scooters to ride around and visit the park behind the plaza. Overall enjoyed my stay and will come back!
This was a strange experience for one of the two days we stayed here. We were in the 300 building, and our room's floor, our furniture, the bed and a fair expanse of the walkway outside our room (which was on the 3rd level) were all vibrating for hours during the day and into the evenings. It took a while to find out that the commercial laundry for the hotel (where the sheets and towels, etc. are washed) was on the first level of this building, and they were using the largest washers and dryers I have ever seen, causing really noticable shaking even on the 3rd level. One of the maintennce guys said they stop doing the laundry at 9 p.m. They did not, so we went to the front desk and asked to be moved, which they did for us the next day. The second room was in a different building, and nothing was shaking. It was actually a much bigger and nicer room, too. My advice is to avoid the 300 building altogether. Other than that, the staff were polite and breakfast was fine.
This is a great place to stay on your visit to Lake Tahoe. They were kind enough to allow a pretty early check-in. Close proximity to the lake and the city center. The rooms were a bit old and I have 4 stars because there was an issue with the AC/ Heater in both the rooms we had booked. Our car was parked right outside so that was great. The bathrooms were clean as well.

The hotel is new and beautiful. The rooms were extremely clean and well stocked, even the kitchen had everything we could potentially want! The bed was super comfortable, the heated floors in the bathroom were great.

Great experience. The hotel is well located near restaurants, supermarkets, shopping, and beaches/trails. The rooms were well remodeled and quiet. Check in was very modernized and easy, and the staff reached out the night before (and the day of) to m
We stayed in the Rubicon Room and it was lovely. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was wonderful and we absolutely loved the lodge, the roaring fireplace, the big beams, and the gorgeous courtyard. Well worth it!
The place is really nice, the water is crystal clear but very cold. It's worth it to pay the $5.00 fee to see this beautiful place. In the middle of it there's an old house, scary but beautiful.
The Mt. Tallac trail is an amazing trail to hike in Lake Tahoe. It isn't easy, about 4.5 miles from the trail head to the summit with about 3,300 feet of elevation gain. The second half of the trail is mostly all rock and is very steep in parts. The
Went with my daughter and husband and came from the heavenly line since the wait at the resort was 2 hours! They helped us right away and we were able to get all the equipment we needed in a reasonable time frame. The staff are super friendly and acc
Beautiful hike to Eagle Lake that took about 30 min after the bridge. This time of year there was snow and ice on the trail that made it slippery but was worth the quick trip up and back.
Took this trail to go to Cascade Falls. It's flat for the first 5 mins or so and then becomes rocky and risky at the corners.
There is some construction work going on in the area so they have put up temporary boards marking the trail. Good job!
