We chose the hotel for its convenient location (although actually finding the entrance from the highway was a challenge — very poor entrance signage). Everything about it was… fine. Not great, not awful. We’ve stayed at other Holiday Inn Express properties that were much nicer. This place has a kind of grubby feel to it - not dirty, except maybe the elevator, which also has a funny smell, but just… careworn. Reception staff looked and acted bored though they were reasonably polite, hallways were poorly lit and dingy, despite the “updated” graphics and signage, lobby was not particularly welcoming, and rooms are small with tiny bathrooms. Breakfast area was also small but probably the most pleasant area of the property. Beds were comfortable and we were really just there to sleep and the price was right despite the total lack of ambience. I would say if price is the main concern, this is a good choice. Don’t choose it for anything resembling “fun” or “appealing.”
This was a very easy booking and with 24 hrs service it is sooo helpful to have someone friendly at reception at night for checking.
I found the room to be very clean and bathroom as well with plenty of towels and washcloths.
I did have to ask for toothpaste and a toothbrush at the front desk as they were not provided in the room.
The breakfast buffet is excellent with some good healthy choices. I would suggest fresh apples to be available as they have bananas only.
The evening/ night staff were very pleasant and helpful, not during the day, which was unfortunate but I would not let this stand in the way of booking this hotel.
I stayed 7 nights. The Standard King room was small but very clean, with nice linens and a super comfortable bed. The included daily breakfast buffet was excellent. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and water were available all day long. If you like banannas, there's a bowl full daily as well. The staff was courteous and friendly. The common areas were also spotlessly clean. It was an excellent stay!
Location is suitable for people that travel by car, it’s on high way and access to any where with car is available. Rooms are clean, staff are polite and helpful. Breakfast is very good. Many fast food restaurants are close to hotel. For shopping it is necessary to drive. To have car is essential. Parking is enough.
Positive: Clean and easy to get to. Good breakfast. Rooms were quiet as well. Mini fridge had a small freezer, which was a nice surprise (had icepaks for cooler to refreeze) Negative: Only downside for me personally were the beds. I prefer soft beds and these were fairly firm. Definitely a personal preference though.
I love Holiday Inn Express hotels. When I travel they are my go-to hotel. You never have to worry about cleanliness or run-down conditions. The pillows are cleverly marked as "firm" and "soft" on the pillowcases and there is plenty of them. A "soft" on top of a "firm" is like heaven. Coupled with the fresh, clean bedspread and soft, yet supportive matress, I sleep better than at home. The Continental breakfast is second to none. I defy you to find another hotel that has a spread this good and changes it up a little everyday. So, if you are staying for 3 days, you will have some constants, but you will have some variables to keep it interesting which is great.
Unfortunately at this location, we did not have a great check-in experience because the young man at the desk was completely unwelcoming and borderline unfriendly. I saw him working another day that we were there as well and in total I never saw him smile once at anyone during his interactions with us or other guests. He really should not be on the front desk as the face of this location!
My only true negative thing to say about this chain in general is that the refrigerators--and I've been saying this for years-- are never very cold, and they don't have a freezer! It seems like a small thing, but as a road traveler, when I can't freeze my ice packs for the next leg of my trip, it is a real issue! It's not a deal breaker at this point, but if I hear of a hotel that is as clean, modern and comfortable and has refrigerators that have a freezer compartment, I will definitely be swayed.
My fiance and I stayed there for a night after we went to the Renaissance Fair up in Tuxedo, NY. The trip was last minute and we found this Holiday Inn Express had an affordable room for the night. Very clean, friendly service, and quiet. The room we had was small but sufficient for a night. I would recommend this hotel to others if they need a place to stay for a night or even a few nights. Plenty of places to eat around the hotel and they serve breakfast in the mornings in a diner type of setting. They also have access to snacks and non-alcoholic drinks 24/7 right near the front desk. There is a Wawa right next door within walking distance which was quite convenient for my stay.
We have stayed at this property perhaps 25-30 times in the last 5 years. It is uniformly clean, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. It is a pleasure to walk in and have hotel staff say, "Welcome back, how have you been?"
