**Review of Holiday Inn Express Fort Lauderdale Cruise Airport**
My stay at the Holiday Inn Express Fort Lauderdale Cruise Airport was absolutely exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the service was impeccable, with staff members providing warm and attentive hospitality. The hotel itself maintains a high standard of cleanliness that could be seen in both the public areas and the private rooms. The accommodations were not only comfortable but also well-equipped, offering modern amenities that cater to every need. The beds were especially comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The proximity to the airport also added a layer of convenience for travel. Overall, this hotel excels in every category, from customer service to comfort and cleanliness, making it a fantastic choice for travelers in the Fort Lauderdale area. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a stress-free and comfortable stay near the airport.
The service is what made this hotel great. The staff were so nice and accommodating. Great location close to restaurants and the port. My only suggestion is for the hotel to put overhead lights in all handicap accessible rooms. My parents had difficulty seeing in the bathroom because the only light was around the mirror and it was pretty dim.
My spouse and I were getting ready to embark on a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale in August 2024 and spent a Saturday night at this Holiday Inn Express. We had picked up a shuttle to this hotel from the airport, which was very convenient. We arrived in the middle of the afternoon on the Saturday.||Our check-in process took a bit longer than we'd expected, but our room (#536) was clean and comfortable. There was something strange about the electrical wiring in our room because the light switches in the main room and bathroom seemed off a bit from what we'd expected.||This property has an outdoor pool that we didn't use, but we had a nice view of it from our room.||We had breakfast at the hotel on Sunday morning before we checked out of the hotel, and that was decent.||Overall, our stay was rather pleasant, and we slept quite well. We didn't have any major issues at all.
The best thing this hotel has going for it is its staff. The man at the front desk was so friendly and helpful, as were the ladies serving breakfast the next morning. The location is very close to both the airport and Port Everglades, which makes it very convenient for a pre-cruise stay. We could see the ships the next morning from our window, which was a nice surprise.||The hotel was clean, but the beds were extra-firm and the AC unit was extremely noisy. Overall, still a good experience.
My adult daughter and I stayed here for one night prior to our cruise. The people at the front desk were so nice and honored our room request. A short walk to the Water Taxi made for a fun time. There are several great restaurants and shops all within walking distance. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful!! Hot, fresh cinnamon rolls, so yummy, fresh hot eggs, pancake making machine, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, beverages, etc. I have stayed here twice before and have two nights booked in February 2025!!!
Positives: Great price, great location, front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to many restaurants and close to a grocery store.
Negatives: Often the room wasn't clean until 5:30. Sometimes they forgot to change the garbage, leave a refill of toilet paper, and we never had enough towels despite asking. You would think when they saw we had a suite for a family of 5 these things would be accommodated.
Reserved 2 rooms here for three nights leading up to a cruise. Airlines changed our plans so we would only arrive and use the rooms for one night. Here is how it went…..
The Good:
- the rooms were clean
- Close to cruise port
- The breakfast has a lot of options and was replenished regularly. Pancake station is hidden so look for it.
- Beds were fine
The Not So Good:
- zero ability to change plans and get refund for two nights. Called up and they said since it was a special rate I had to eat the cost of the 2 rooms for the 2 nights we could no longer use, even though the change in plans was the airline’s fault, not ours. They got 2 nights charge for zero use.
- Reserved 2 rooms each supposed to have a king bed and sofa bed. One room did, the other didn’t, it only has a chair. Went to the desk and the lady said I just didn’t know how to fold it out. Told her I checked everything before talking to her. She called maintenance to confirm I was telling the truth before giving me a room that matched what I reserved.
- Cruise shuttle is $15 a head. Super expensive for a 3 mile drive.
- One person on duty at night, grudgingly helpful, and very slow. Didn’t even stop us from going to the wrong elevator when she saw us going that way.
Bottom Line: Don’t buy special rates. Don’t expect service. Don’t expect them to care about your needs. Don’t book here.
Room was great, clean, no issues at all. Pool was on the roof top, unfortunately they close at 8 pm. Too bad because it’s nice being out there at night. Breakfast was included, which was nice. I rate this place five stars, couldn’t find any faults that would take away points.
