Holiday Inn Express Detroit-Birmingham, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Birmingham - 35270 Woodward Ave, USA

I've been here twice so far and have enjoyed my stay. During my recent visit though, my change purse went missing. Good thing there were only $4 inside, I was on the second floor. I looked all over for it and never found it. But other than that, I had no other issues. During breakfast my family and I were greeted by Ms. Jacqueline everyday, who was very kind and pleasant. It makes your stay even more enjoyable when you have staff such as her. ❤️

Great Location. Friendly staff. The hotel is under renovation, so there is extra noise during the day. The room was comfortable and clean. Some of the updates in the room needed repair after renovations. Leaky faucet, tub spout falling off. That's a contractor issue. The hotel is good.

Relatively small rooms. Renovated, but not well. Corners were cut. Thermostat not functioning, among other issues. Like the contractor was the low bid. Popcorn ceilings left. Rusty escutcheon. Sheets had piling, lumpy pillows, room had mould on 3/4” caulk lines, hallway smelled of vomit, no lobby, ice machines not on every floor and vintage elevator. No complimentary water. Poor value @$220, worst IHG Hotel I’ve stayed in years of dozens. Balcony is a plus, as is location. 2.5 stars. Prefer the Kingsley.

1. Under construction; sections closed off with vinyl plastic covers taped to the ceiling. But there was no one working on the construction during the time we were there. As if the workers stopped showing up in the middle of a project. 4/2024 2. Bed was sub par, lumps and divots. but I slept fine. 3. Heater/cooler is very loud and turns on very often 4. Overall, I had expected better for a Holiday Inn. Their brand is usually better than this place. I wouldn't stay here again

Great location in a great area. Walkable to great dining options, ice cream spot and Kroger's. Hotel is an old apartment/condo complex being renovated currently. Rooms are new and nice but small, the price compared to other nearby options can't be touched, although the amenities are the compromise.

Nice hotel that was once a 1960’s luxury apartment. Close to a grocery store, custard stand and classic burger joint. The breakfast is excellent in this still-being-renovated hotel.

Great location in Birmingham off Woodward. 5th floor has nice balcony’s but Woodward can be noisy. Rooms are clean and nice but. Nothing great. Friendly with free parking.

in all honesty i wasn't particularly looking forward to staying at this hotel when the rest of the family were staying in much fancier Birmingham hotels, however, so pleased that we did. A big shout out to the reception staff and in particular, Elaine. Whoever was on reception made us feel so welcome. Truly made the stay exceptional. The room was very large so plenty of space to spread out. Very comfy bed, great bathroom and good daily housekeeping. There was traffic noise but very quickly got used to that and certainly didn't keep us awake at night. Location was spot on, Birmingham is lovely and if we were ever to return, then I'd have no hesitation booking this hotel. Breakfast was simple and my choice everyday was a freshly toasted bagel (thank you Elaine) with banana and peanut butter. A fridge with greek yogurt plus other bits. Great value as it was in the room price. I thought we would be eating out for breakfast but truly no need to so that saved us some bucks.
