Holiday Inn Express Charleston US Hwy 17 & I-526, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Charleston - 1943 Savannah Hwy, USA

I selected this hotel because of the good reviews posted and close proximity to MUSC. We arrived late Friday night on the 15th. Check in was quick and the lobby was decorated nice. Upon arriving in room 226 we noted the moisture eliminator on top of the wardrobe (with black residue) that was full and needed to be changed out. I always carry my cleaning supplies (wipes etc) and began to wipe down door handles, bathroom, remote etc. I inspected the bed, pulled the sheets back, checked corners, and it appeared to be clean. We went to bed after 1 am. Our daughter woke us up at 0845 complaining there was a bug on her pillow. She immediately got out of the bed, I killed the tiny bug, and stripped the sheets looking for more. We immediately called the front desk and were informed the maintenance would need to come up and inspect the room. I inspected my daughter for bug bites and thank God none were visible. We showered, got dressed and went to check out. We discarded our pajamas in the room. The front desk receptionist was extremely apologetic, credited our account and gave points. I googled the picture of the bug and yes it was a bedbug. Attaching pics. Thank God we were only staying one night and only had changing clothes. Staff indicated, hotels have a high turnover and people come from all over the world. I usually don’t stay at Holiday Inns because of another bad experience 3 years ago. I will never stay at a Holiday Inn product again. This is my first time ever experiencing anything like this. My gut told me to stay in Mt Pleasant and I should have listened. ||Warning 1-elevator smell||Warning 2- odor absorber in room.

Our check in was easy from parking to getting in the rooms. Breakfast was decent while the beds were soft, and the bedrooms were spacious for all the luggage for a week's cruise. There were several places close by to eat dinner. The hotel arranged transport to and from the cruise; it was a dream. I'd book again, hands down!

The rooms are spacious, and the on-site staff are extremely helpful. With nearby amenities like a grocery store and a fast-food restaurant, it's easy to grab a quick bite or essentials. The hotel remains quiet at night, and the AC works efficiently, ensuring a comfortable stay. I have no complaints about this place. It's highly recommended, especially if you're making a pit stop during a road trip or visiting nearby attractions.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave great advice for tourist atteactions to visit during our stay. Room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The warm breakfast was delicious and I enjoyed the coffee bar as well.

The check in was fast. My room was available the hours before check in time which was great after a long trip. Room temp perfect and could easily be adjusted. Clean. Microwave and mini fridge bonus. Bathroom large and well lit. Shower/ run combo. Large tv, very quiet. Never heard doors closing. Far enough from road for sounds although not really a busy highway anyway. Pool outdoors looked clean with plenty of seating. Will book this hotel every time I decide to visit Charleston.

We requested a corner room and the front desk accommodated our early check-in and late check-out requests. The room was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was one of the nicest we’ve experienced in our travels. The main lobby is spacious and accommodating, and the front desk reception was courteous and friendly. Parking is at a premium around the hotel but there is abundant garage parking right next door.

Our stay at this Holiday Inn Express was perfect. There is simply no way that our experience could have been improved. On-site parking is free. Checking in was a breeze. The common areas and our guestroom were clean, bright, and modern. The room was quiet. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was pristine. The furniture is tasteful. Believe it or not, this hotel had one of the finest continental breakfasts I have ever had. The front desk, housekeeping, and kitchen staff are lovely. I will return to this Holiday Inn Express for sure!

Everything from booking the room to housekeeping was a good experience. Our experience was, however, diminished by the fact that both beds felt like you were sleeping on 2 plywood boards and not mattresses. (I sleep on one of the firmest mattresses you can buy at home.) It was not only disappointing but also painful, as I have 2 ruptured discs other degenerative back conditions that made my otherwise pleasant stay, memorable, and not for the right reasons!
