Holiday Inn Express & Suites Texas City, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Texas City - 2440 Gulf Fwy, USA

I really do not recommend the Holiday Inn in Texas City, Texas. The team is very unprofessional and incompetent. All the desk receptionists are a group of friends and acquaintances belonging to the same community. If they do not know you, they look down at you. Some even live on site with their whole family which I think is very unprofessional and against the standards and the Corporate's regulations of such a hotel! Most of this team does not know what they are doing and they have bad attitude. The person in charge of the breakfast is worse, she behaves as if the hotel was her property and clearly shows that she is annoyed by the guests. I was personally feeling very uncomfortable to go and eat breakfast with my family as this woman was staring at us while we were serving ourselves as she did not want us there. This person in charge of the breakfast also lives in the hotel with some of her family. The cleaning ladies are very rude, uneducated and lazy. They do not do their job or if they do, it is very reluctantly, against their hearts, you wonder what they are doing there?? They pass from a room to another quite quickly. I had to clean everything in my room and to vacuum by myself! Moreover, even if you put the sign at the door, not to disturb, they still knock. This is insane! There is a smell of marijuana all over the floors, even if they put humidifiers at every floor, you can still smell this disgusting odor! The premises are very dirty, the floor is always sticky, the swimming-pool is disgusting, people throw their cigarette ends on the floor just next to the pool along with some other trash. There is no device to drain the water in the swimming-pool, they just throw some chlorine and that is all. There is a fitness center and all the sport devices there do not work. They told us to check out 14 days before our date of departure. They came knocking on out door aggressively while we were resting and they also harassed us on the phone. They told us to check out immediately without giving any solid reason. If you want to have a good stay and enjoy your trip, stay away from this hotel. It is a terrible location with terrible people. Unless you are a friend of the manager, you will have a real bad time over there. The worst hotel I have ever seen in my life and trust me, during my trips, I have seen nasty hotels but I have never seen people with such a bad attitude and foul manners. They will certainly be sued very soon.

We had two rooms here for an overnight before boarding a cruise out of Galveston the next morning. We are a family of 10, so we normally get two of the double bed plus pull out couch rooms for any one night stops on long drive trips. Pros The staff was fabulous. Just sweet as tea & all had a lovely vibe of helpful & caring energy. The ice machine was broken & kitchen staff gave my kids ice from inside the kitchen to fill up their yetis. The breakfast area was super clean, very well taken care of & the ladies were cheerful. Front desk was perfect. They all do their jobs wonderfully & are not in the slightest but responsible for the cons. Cons Freaking DIRTY in the rooms. Dirty. I get turnover has to be swift. I truly understand that. But this? No. Not acceptable. The cleaners know if someone slept in the pull out. So to leave it this way? Makes zero sense. And it wasn't in one room. Both of them were filthy. The carpets are ancient. Rooms smell like mildew. Suspect curly hair around the base of the toilets.... it went on. If you're going to cruise tomorrow & you just need to eat & sleep, look at other places. I usually only stay at IHG properties because I'm a member. Next time I'll stay on island prior to cruising. Find another hotel. These rooms were one step above bedbugs.

DO NOT STAY HERE. The entire hotel is affected by water damage from the storm. The carpet is squishy wet. They’re still renting rooms like nothing happened. I Project Manage Commercial Large Loss water damages for a living. I have meters with me. This hotel is saturated. The humidity level was so high on the 3rd floor that my clothes were damp with condensation. They went and bought cheap dehumidifiers from Home Depot and placed in the hallways. The size of those units aren’t even big enough to dry one room much less an entire building. I have no choice but to stay here because it’s so late and I have to be up for work in 5 hours. I’m a diamond elite member. I spend 6 figures easily at Holiday Inn nationally as it’s been my choice for myself and my crews. THIS IS NOT THE IHG STANDARD. THE FRANCHISE OWNER SHOULD HAVE HIS LICENSE REVOKED AND KICKED OUT OF THE SYSTEM. Go get a motel 6 if you expect people to stay in these conditions!

Steer clear of this place. Service was the worst we have ever experienced. When checking in, we asked the manager (I think her name was Brenda Jones) for a room with a view, “anything but a brick wall,” my husband said. We got exactly that - a brick wall. In fact, it was one of only 2 rooms with that brick wall view, adjacent to the hotel’s brick awning. It certainly seemed intentional. When we called down to request towels and pillows, she told us we had to come down and get them, and when we did, there were none available. We had to keep checking in over and over again. I took my daughters swimming in the pool, and there were no pool towels available. Brenda was rude when I requested some, pointing me to where they were supposed to be and insisting she had just put some out (which didn’t matter because there were gone). Her male counterpart was friendly and got them for us. The pool was absolutely disgusting. Water was murky, zero visibility 2 inches into the water. Breakfast food was okay, and on par with what I’ve had at other hotels, but, again they were short on supplies. No forks or napkins out, no staff nearby, and the trash was overflowing. This hotel has some serious management problems. I would not stay here again and advise others to steer clear of it as well.

The staff we came in contact with was polite and professional. So I would rate them a 5. But I rate the hotel a 3 because of what someone did with our reservations. When we arrived, our reservations had been changed without our knowledge. Which isn't fair. We stayed there in March and the same thing had happened. I thought it was a mistake on my part. But no they tried it again. Thank you to the 2 young ladies that helped to accommodate my large family.

Not happy with our stay. Room was musty and not cleaned properly, dirty carpet, broken chairs and furniture and the bathroom was terrible. The cleaning staff at this Hotel all need to be fired and all new brought in. I mean this place was just ridiculous. We booked months prior and was going on a cruise close by. This was a bad experience with Holiday inn. The staff for the most part was friendly and the breakfast in the morning was accommodating. But... I would never stay here again. Take my advice and look for another CLEAN place to stay.

I want to start by saying the staff was very nice. That being said, this hotel has gone down hill. The room key didn't work when we left to get food. The TV is stuck on some color blind visual setting, and the remote works sporadically. So we had to watch the weather channel all night. When we got to the room (at 5:30pm) only one bed was made. The other bed didn't have any sheets on it. And the bathroom didn't have towels either. But the friendly staff corrected those problems. The hallway in front of the elevator is a fall hazard due to the floors being wet constantly from people leaving the pool.

The staff is absolutely wonderful. Best staff and hotel I've stayed at with such a great group of Host! I was truly blessed to stay here after hurricane Baryl! The manager was also most kind! Any other needs i had they were very attentive to my needs and quick to respond!!! I can't say enough good things about this hotel and I've stayed at alot of 5 star hotels this is one of my all time best!. Staff means more to me than anything else! The room was fantastic very clean best beds ever wow so comfy and neat updated features! All around great and the pillows fantastic as well! A little mix up at beginning but Marcus Fred and other members were quick to fix me up in a wonderful suite. Thank you to all the staff! Ben is also a good kind man that was quick to set our remote! Ty TX City holiday Inn! I'll be sad to leave but look fwd to my next visit. I will recommend your hotel to family that visits as well as anyone else in the future that wants a 5☆ hotel with 10 star service. Room 209 was great and looking fwd to my new suite tomorrow with 2 king beds! 🙏😇 and I'll definitely returning here again+
