Holiday Inn Express & Suites Texarkana East, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Texarkana - 5210 Crossroads Pkwy, USA

The first room we were given hadn't been touched since the last guest. The second room was clean enough, though we had to ask for bedding for the pull out couch (the bag in the closet where they normally are was empty), additional towels (room could sleep six, there were 2 towels) and no towels at the pool. The cable wasn't HD so it really took you back to your younger years. The breakfast was so bad that we went to McDonald's after checking out: juice machine was broken (juice boxes in a mini fridge), waffle machine wasn't available (there was space for it), the biscuits must've been reheated for multiple days given they were hard as a rock and the cereal options were special k and raisin bran. The staff was clearly frustrated. Front desk folks were kind but weren't able to fully address most issues (I genuinely felt bad for them). The housekeeping staff wasn't friendly, but I couldn't blame them, given the circumstances. The front desk couldn't offer any kind of refund, voucher, etc. other than an apology (again, it isn't their fault and I didn't push the issue, though another guest was very irate while checking out). I was very glad we were only booked for one night, so we just dealt with it. The owners + management team should be ashamed of the conditions guests are subjected to given how the hotel is advertised. Pictures of first room added to review.

We had a lovely breakfast with Ms. Erica on Labor Day weekend. She was full of positive energy and gave us excellent customer service throughout our meal. Thank you, The Goodwin’s

Rooms were big, beds were average. Breakfast and service were terrible. I went down to have breakfast a little before they said breakfast would be over and they had already cleaned all the hot foods out. The worst part was the lady that was already putting everything up mumbling under her breath "you are too late fella." Thought I might at least get some pancakes, but the machine was broke and they continued to clean out the pastry cabinet next to me as I tried to get it to work. This was not what I expected for the price I paid for the room.

Very disappointing. The hotel lobby and front desk was nice, but that is where it ends. Our first room smelled musky, which we found out was due to a really bad wet carpet in front of the AC. Our replacement room had only 1 trash can, 2 towels, no coffee, and the door was hard to close. On top of that, there was long black hairs left on the shower wall. The breakfast area juice dispenser and pancakes maker were broke. The elevator call button on the forth floor was broke. Multiple floors had carpet stains. I normally don't leave reviews, but felt I had to for this hotel to warn others. I only wish I looked at the other reviews before booking myself.

Positive: The hotel had a very convenient location for our travels. Negative: They may be understaffed or need more training. The staff needs to pay more attention to detail. For example, our key cards did not work at first, so I trudged down to the front desk to get them fixed. It?s a small thing, but it delayed my getting rest.

Positive: The room was large and roomy Negative: The mattresses were awful. When you laid down you rolled to the middle. They are way past time to be replaced. The breakfast was poorly done. Eggs were scalded and burnt. No butter for bread or oatmeal. Very messy and not kept clean

The gentleman at the front desk on night shift was very nice and accommodating. The hotel rooms are not up to standard. The a/c units are worn. Room 200 had dirty towel on the counter. Dead bug in window. Room 200 a/c does not work. The lobby and interior corridors are hot. Carpets dusty and filthy. Worst HIExpress I’ve ever stayed at, so very disgusted at the moment. Would never stay again and would never recommend to anyone. Bed is hard as a rock. Very limited breakfast choices. Special K cereal is only cereal option. No cold water was offered. No fruit. Juice machine out of order, but did have little cartons of OJ.

I am editing my 1 star review to reflect a 5 just because of the manager that reached out and addressed all my concerns. The manager and most of the staff was very kind and Courteous during my stay. Most of the reviews you will find that the only nice part of your stay is the front lobby, it’s clean and seems to be well maintained but that’s where it ends. The hallways, elevators, every amenity offered (gym, pool, breakfast, ice machines), the rooms, are all in pretty bad shape. The issues within the hotel doesn’t seem to be staff related. The IHG brand really needs to step in and fix the issues. All of them are controllable, and are being reported by guests, but are clearly being ignored.
