Holiday Inn Express & Suites Swansea, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Swansea - 1400 Grand Army of the Republic Hwy #6, USA

Rooms are ok but there’s no vent in the bathroom so everything gets kind of wet feeling. Same with the air conditioning - it makes the room feel wet. There is also zero sound proofing. Could hear the person sneeze in the room next door. Door doesn’t go all the way to the floor. Extremely noisy if you have a room on the first floor with the noise from the people above. It also has a slightly musty mildew smell likely from lack of ventilation. The best part of this place is the location.

Positive: The entire staff (i.e. front desk, breakfast attendants, housekeeping) was friendly and helpful. Room was serviced each day, which many other hotels do not do anymore. Our room was very clean with great amenities (fridge, microwave). Not far from Newport! Negative: Even though SEVERAL areas that it is a non-smoking property, there was a group of smokers (guests) that congregated under our 2nd floor window. The smoke smell came into our room. Obviously not a dig at the hotel itself, but it was really unpleasant.

Terrible experience for myself and our travel baseball program... Check in Friday before majority of the 5 teams staying and was assigned a first floor room....before stepping foot in the room I requested to be switched to a higher floor for safety and noise reasons.... Despite the hotel being empty at the time I was (rudely) denied my request and told the hotel would be sold out.... sold out and currently occupied are 2 different things. There is zero reason I couldn't be swapped with another UN-Occupied room.... For the next 48 hours I had to listen to what sounded like a herd of elephants run back and forth above our heads.... Next..(FYI...ROOM 118).My shower did NOT drain.... we were here for a baseball tournament and the beach so you can imagine how "nice" is was to come back after two 90° days to stand in your own scum while showering....I told the front desk multiple times and nothing was done about it....room was not made up ( including shower cleaned) until sometime after 4 pm...again showering in our own scum.... the bathroom has mold on the walls and doors...tissue holder covered in dirty fingerprints and just disgusting. Lastly... when housing a minimum of 5 baseball teams...the man at the front desk with MAYBE 3 teeth in his mouth preceded to lecture all converging in the SMALL AND ONLY common area of the hotel (there is NO outdoor common area)about their noise level like her was speaking to a group of kindergarteners for a minimum of 4 minutes before 10p.m. ... For $436 for 2 nights... I don't think a clean shower or room are a lot to ask for. Minimum we should have been moved and/or comped.... *****EDITED as a follow up to the hotels reply.... Absolutely NOTHING was done to remedy the shower. That pic was AFTER they "took care of the problem" and the dirt and mold are still an issue. Thanks

This hotel's location is it's only redeeming feature, I have stayed in hundreds of hotels world wide over the past 30 years, and I have to say that this is one of the worst and most depressing. I really don't know where to start, maybe the paper-thin walls allowing you to hear everything in the adjoining rooms ?, I was kept awake every night and woken every morning 5:00 AM by what sounded like a Hippo in high heels stomping around upstairs. The beds were soft and really didn't feel clean. The key cards I was given when I checked in didn't work in my door, this happened every day for the 4 days I stayed, I was told this was my fault as I must have put them next to other cards in my wallet ?!, which was not the case. The breakfast area is cramped and there's limited room to sit when the hotel is full, as it was when I stayed, but that's ok as the food is awful, most days consisted of rubber turkey sausage patties, squirty sausages, tasteless artificial egg omelettes with orange cheese inside and spicy breakfast potatoes ?, just what you need in the morning, spicy potatoes ?!. The staff I interacted with generally generally unresponsive and lacked any passion for their jobs, which is understandable given the environment, in summary, I will not be staying here again.

Overall has a great stay. Rooms could use some upgrading. We felt uncomfortable because the main door to the rooms had quite the big gap underneath and we felt like there was no privacy. The bathroom has no vent fan. But atleast it was quiet and on a good location.

This hotel would have been average, but then the problems just kept piling up. Stayed here with our two adult kids. At least Two bedroom suite with a sofabed was clean. Sofabed was super uncomfortable, but that’s not unexpected. And then the problems started. The sitting room with the sofabed didn’t have an overhead or floor lamp, so the whole room was lighted only by the single desk lamp and not useable for much more than sleeping. It was evening when we arrived, and apparently our unfolding the sofabed and closing the doors caused the room below us to complain to the front desk that we were “stomping around”. So we were walking on eggshells most of the night. We tried to do some laundry in their guest machines, $2 in quarters to wash and $1.50 to dry. But the total amount of change the hotel had in the whole place was $2.00! We thought maybe we’d buy sodas from the machine and get change, but those had a sign saying “coin return disabled” so we didn’t want to chance it. Then in the morning, the bathroom sink didn’t have hot water. And to top it all off, we left a pair of AirPods in the room when we checked out. We could tell online that they were taken to a residence about 10 minutes from the hotel. We called later that day, and gave them that address. The hotel was initially adamant that there wasn’t anything they could do. All we could do was report it to the police. Credit to the local police though or maybe there was another unexpected development, but a few days later, the hotel did let us know that they “found” the AirPods and they would send them to us. Still, there were so many issues—it’s questionable how much the management really cares, so even with the ultimately positive outcome on the AirPods, we’ll avoid this hotel in the future.

Old cable connected LG 35 inch TV. Channel list on photocopied 1/2 sheet of paper, had several channels missing.|Tiled floor area was on a wooden substraight and tiles were loose and squeezing in bathroom.|The only other concern I have is the TV was mounted 5 feet to the left of the King bed. There's a couch also left of the bed and a divider wall between them. That's where the middle of the TV was situated. Ugh.|Call the next hotel first before you reserve anywhere out there!

Room was a nice size and comfortable. Pool was pleasant to swim in. Good location for trip to Newport, or stop before Cape cod. Good breakfast. Staff was really nice, gave excellent service.
