Holiday Inn Express & Suites Shawnee I-40, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Shawnee - 4909 N Union Ave, USA

I was on a long road trip and this was the nicest place I stayed at. Very nice room. The TV worked fine, had HBO channels, and a good channel guide. I slept like a baby. Air conditioner was working great in the 100 degree temperatures, not loud at all. The breakfast was just great. A nice variety of good food. The lady who staffed the breakfast needs recognition. On the morning of August 25th she was working hard to keep it clean and ready to eat.

Just don’t. Our first room had huge stains on the carpet, the blackout curtain was broken and would not raise (the excess was just folded up at the bottom of the windowsill and there was no chain to move it up or down), and there was a huge bug (not a roach) on the carpet. We asked for a new room and one desk clerk told the other that two other people had said their room was not cleaned. When asked which rooms, the clerk could only remember one. Our second room also had very stained carpet (but not as bad as the first). At breakfast, the trash cans were overflowing and the breakfast attendant went over to them and glanced at them and then kept filling breakfast items and wiping tables. While at breakfast, another guest trapped a tarantula that was walking across the breakfast room floor. That caused quite a stir among the guests eating breakfast, but the breakfast attendant didn’t seem bothered at all and continued her duties. Keep driving, DON’T STOP HERE!

Called ahead to make sure hot tub and pool were working. They told us yes. They lied. The pool is green and the hot tub isn’t even filled. Our key didn’t work to our room. The sofa bed was dirty like it’s never been cleaned. Cleaning lady came at 8:30 am and when I said don’t come in, she barged in anyway. We had 2 sleeping kids! She came back an hour later and tried to come in again after being told no. We told her we are checking out this morning so please wait until then. She said we needed to put our do not disturb sign up or she would keep bothering us. This hotel is dirty and employees are rude and unprofessional.

My first impression of this property looked like it has a current facelift. But, inside its a different story. Here's a list of a few things I found wrong with my room. Window black out shade broken and stuck down. Window curtain broken and stuck down. HVAC wall thermostat wouldn't work. Toilet seat very loose. Dirty water found in the ice bucket. Reporting these issues to the front desk fell on deaf ears. Customer service is non-existence.

We had the BEST experience here!! Staff was so friendly, the ladies that clean the rooms, the breakfast, 24 hour coffee and a phenomenal pool area. Only issue we had was some rowdy teenagers doing a knock and run a few times and the GM Suzette was extra amazing and helped us out with that. This is a place we will definitely return to over and over!

I came on a spur of the moment trip with my kids for my sons birthday, the pool is disgusting it's greener than a fish pond, the staff that checked us in only checked us in for 1 night instead of 2, so I had to go ask for fresh towels and if our room was going to be cleaned. It was not. I have a baby so I do not like to leave the floor he plays on unkept for long. The manager was outside the door(leaning against it) smoking when we returned from the store. My children had to walk through the smoke to get inside!! I have stayed in many hotels on many trips and this is by far the worst experience I've had. I certainly was hoping for a better stay in a more reputable hotel. Guess this one just needs better management. We will be moving to a hotel with a working pool and competent staff. Don't waste your time with this one until the management is better. Sadly subpar experience.

Three days and not once was the bed made or the trash taken out.. They did come in everyday and take all used towels, even if they were hung up but didn’t replace a single one. I get back to my room the third night, get ready for a shower and not a single towel. I called the front desk to request one and was told I would have to come down to the lobby to get it if I wanted one. Very frustrating after a long day of work conferences.

So I had my sons graduation party in the meeting room on the 18th of May. It cost $150 for 4 hours we had people in and out, everyone kept going to the hallway because it was so hot in the meeting room. Most people didn't stay because it was so hot in the room. The A/C was set to on fan showed it was on and it was 80 degrees they had set up fans and a tiny A/C did not do anything for how hot it was in there. Blowing around hot air is not cooling anything down both doors were open but it was 15 degrees difference in the hallway! It was literally one of the worst experiences we have ever had at a hotel! We had people coming from Texas and an hour or more away so they would have stayed at this hotel if it were better in the meeting room! Everyone ended up staying at Grand because of how horrible the experience was. The staff was super apologetic but could not do anything for us. They said the manager would be contacting us because we should have received some type of discount on this room being it was so hot and no one could enjoy themselves! This is honestly the worst hotel we have ever had to deal with. The manager didn't even know we were coming because she didn't even look at the calendar to see that we had this area booked! She stated the A/C was not on but it was the A/C was just broke my husband is a heat and air technician and it was not working properly!!!! They lost alot of business that day from our family and we won't be back to give them another try!!!!
