Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ruston, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Ruston - 1312 Hospitality St, USA

We stayed in a very spacious room. The room was clean and the AC worked great, it had two king beds and a seating area! Perfect for our family of 5 with a pack and play. The service was wonderful, the lady at the front even opened the breakfast area upon our late night arrival to give us milk for our baby. breakfast was great as well!

I booked this room for my daughter who is a freshman at Grambling State University. Since my daughter has to be off campus by noon for holiday break, i booked the room so she could have somewhere to stay for the night until her mother and I came to get her the following day, The night before check-in I called to have my daughter's name added to the room. I spoke with a nice lady named Stacy who informed me that as long as the hotel did not sale out, she would go ahead and assign a room so that my daughter would be able to check in early. She even sent me a message before she left that night confirming that she was able to assign the room. She also acknowledged my Diamond status. I called the next morning to confirm the assignment and was met by a rude lady who said that "we don't do that" and informed me that she didn't know why Stacy would tell me that. She was not accommodating at all. I asked if it was any way possible to let my daughter check in early due to the circumstance. She said again rudely "we don't like do that" and even growled at me in frustration. She told me to call back later to see. How rude! The next morning, I called to inquire about a late check out. Same woman answered with the same rude response "we don't like doing that". I again informed her of my Diamond status and asked if it was recognized its perk of early/late check in and out if available. She never informed me that this was not available, just that "we don't like doing that". I have stayed at the property before and have no issue with its cleanliness, but I will never stay there again due to the poor customer service. My daughter is in her first year of school and there are 3 more years after that. I was looking for a place I could frequent and make a home away from home. I definitely will look further.

Always a great breakfast. Personnel are mostly excellent. A few are still learning, but pleasant. Rooms are usually good. Love the fact that all beds in the hotel are Kings. Pricing is very good and reservations are easy.

We chose the holiday inn because we had such a nice stay earlier in the summer this year. This time it didn’t quite meet those same expectations. It wasn’t a horrible stay but just not as good as we know it could be. There was a dirty towel from a previous guest left in our bathroom on the handicap bar. Our tv could never get a signal so we didn’t watch it. There was an unpleasant smell in the room when we first arrived. Took about a day for it to finally disappear. We didn’t mention any of this to the staff just because we didn’t want to deal with any hassles. We were just there for a couple of days. We did enjoy the breakfast and for the most part it was quiet…even with renovations going on across from us. It’s quite possible we will stay there again as our first experience was better and maybe this last visit isn’t typical.

I want to start by talking about how great and friendly the person was who checked us in Sunday night. She told us about the duck promotion and was very enthusiastic about us finding the ducks. I'm not sure if it was due to the construction, but our room had a wet smell that lingered. We ended up getting some air freshener which helped. However, the real reason I am writing this review is the lack of breakfast and lack of staff service the next morning. Breakfast was not supposed to end until 9:30 am. We came down at 8:45 and there was very little out/left. There was cereal, but no milk until a staff member finally brought a gallon jug out. There were 4 bagels out and no other bread or pastries. There were 3 very hard biscuits left from the hot bar. No yogurt, oatmeal, or pancakes. A customer ended up going to the back to get another urn of coffee out. There was no one in the kitchen or at the front desk during this time. It appeared that everyone was sitting outside. The staff member who finally came and got the milk out then announced loudly that breakfast was closed. That was at 8:52 am. She did end up leaving part of it open, not that there was anything to eat except cereal. The front desk staff did come in briefly after a customer went outside to get her, but was back outside when we came back down to leave about 15 minutes later. We've stayed at this hotel a few times, and it's usually pretty good. But the breakfast experience really gave us a bad impression for future stays.

The hotel is going through a renovation, but most of it looks done. The staff was very nice and my room was newly finished and very clean. Absolutely no complaints AND the breakfast was better than normal for Holiday Inn.

I have to say this location sets the bar for service. It is currently under construction (updates), so there were smells and such from that. The room was acceptable, and as is standard with hotel ac units- either freezing or hot in room at night. Beds were comfy too. We were a little sad our plans didn’t allow us to stay here on our return trip. Would stay again for sure!

Friendly service but very questionable place. IHG Places tend to be up to par but there was a strange odor throughout the establishment. After a long drive from Alabama, I was anticipating a great shower. Upon walking into the bathroom, I noticed there was a used toothbrush and toothpaste in the shower. The shower itself doesn’t looked like it has been cleaned in awhile. Smh!
