Holiday Inn Express & Suites Marina - State Beach Area, an IHG Hotel - Featured Reviews (454)
This is a review that is way overdue! My family and I stayed overnight at this hotel during the pandemic. I am an IHG Diamond Elite member and have stayed at this property several times in the past. The hotel is decent and the room that we were staying in was huge. The part that makes my review of this hotel a 1 our of 5 is because the franchise owners located in San Francisco do not respond or help with any safety issues you bring to their attention. My family member was taking a shower, turned to the side to use the pump soap and shampoo. The bathtub was super slippery and they didn't provide any rubber mats. My family member slipped and flew onto his back on the floor outside of the bathtub with his head missing the vanity countertop by inches. My family member said that he was not that hurt but I wanted to make sure that my kids would not slip and fall when they showered. I called the front desk and the employee did not care and would not come up to bring us a rubber show mat. The next morning the housekeeping team kept banging on our hotel room door to see when we were checking out (and this was after a phone call from the front desk asking when we were checking out). They were rushing us out of the hotel room. I called the corporate office of IHG several times. They gave me a record number for the incident but I highly doubt they will ever handle this situation properly. I am a business owner myself and wasn't looking to sue them but I believe it is important to provide rubber bathtub mats. Also if they have the pump soap and shampoo dispensers on the wall under the shower head like most IHG franchise hotels do then the customer won't turn to the side with their back exposed to a fall outside of the bathtub while taking a shower. This hotel is nice however I will never stay here again because of the way we were treated. I hope that no one else has slipped and fallen in their bathroom from taking an innocent shower.
We got a suite, which was the perfect size for 5 people. The location was pretty convenient to both the highway and surrounding food. Kids loved the park across the street. Loved that it was a quiet area, outside of the more dirty downtown feel of Monterey. Slept so easily through the night, which is great for someone with insomnia.
Had a short stay here while visiting in town to see the aquarium.
The room was nicer than expected. It was clean, and the layout was great. I loved the balcony.
The staff was really nice and we didn't have any issues during our one night stay.
Family got woken up this morning at 4am as they prepared for the breakfast that is currently being served above our heads. As you can imagine since 4am, we have not only had a stampede of people but also the chair scraping and silverware dropping and conversations. We are supposed to go enjoy the day at the race but we are now considering skipping since everyone is exhausted. We called the front desk and their response was “oh yeah someone should have mentioned that at check in.” Excuse for nearly $500 a night per room (we have 2) this is unacceptable. Thanks for ruining our weekend trip! Beware of the first floor rooms. Not worth the $1000 we paid for 1 night.
I gave 3 stars because of vagrants right outside our room through our stay. The other reason is I didn't care for the breakfast. It never changed through 3 days.
But besides that it was clean, quiet, comfortable and close to stores , beach and freeway.
Newly renovated hotel near the state beach. The location perfect, just a short walk to the beach which made our vacation even more enjoyable.||||The staff members were incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. They made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The rooms were spotless and well-maintained, which we truly appreciated.||||Overall, we had a fantastic experience at your hotel and will definitely be recommending it to our friends and family. Thank you for providing such a great accommodation option near the beach.
First time here, and I was extremely happy with the choice of my husband. The walk-in shower was the first comment from my husband. He isn't too thrilled with the shower/tub combos. Our check-in lady was awesome and very helpful.
Absolutely insane room. Windows cracked open when we showed up because temperature outside was perfect. Nice sea breeze added to ambiance. So comfortable and clean. Beautiful balcony and huge room with tons of space
