Holiday Inn Express & Suites Dubuque-West, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Dubuque - 2080 Holliday Dr, USA

We stayed in the suite with 2 beds and a pull out sofa bed. The only negative thing I can say about the room was the mattress on the sofa bed was pretty bad. I would suggest that the hotel provided a foam mattress to go over the sofa mattress. The room was clean. They had a good breakfast and the dining room was clean and well cared for. The BEST thing abut this hotel was the customer service. They were very friendly and they went above and beyond for us. I noticed that all staff were busy at all times I didn't see any staff just standing around and they all seemed to enjoy their job. The service at this hotel reminded me of the service you get at a high end hotel. Thanks for a great stay. We will book this hotel again. 😀

Appear to be some management and personnel issues that need to be addressed.|Pros: the room itself was very nice. Really liked the separate coffee area with it's own sink.|Decent, large breakfast area with a good choice. |Cons: Got to the room and went down to the desk to get some toilet paper. There was no extra roll in the room. The one on the holder was low. After waiting awhile for the toilet paper to be delivered, we were told there is none in the hotel. AND, this was the second time they had run out completely. |The hotel was full due to a high school swim meet. (Saturday) So Sunday morning the water was lukewarm at best. (Better on Monday when there were fewer people in the hotel.)

All the pictures on the Google review are years old. This place has fallen into disrepair, and could use a major deep clean. I booked 2 rooms, 313 has broken tiles in the middle of the bathroom floor. It was missing 1 of the TVs. when I first walked in the room was freezing so I turned up the thermostat a couple degrees and left to go have dinner with my family. Upon my return I stepped into the room and it was extremely hot. I checked the thermostat and it said 76 degrees while the temp was set at cool 65. the Ac unit was blowing hot air non-stop. I went to the front desk and told the about this. We came to the agreement that I could cancel the room because there was plenty of room in my second. Room 315: mold in the bathroom. the carpet in the entryway had dirt ground into it, and there was a thick coat of dust on the microwave. At check out I specifically asked for a paper receipt to see if the were going to try to charge me for the room that was canceled. It was not on the receipt. 1 day later it showed up on my credit card, and the day after that the room I stayed in was charged. I attempted to contact the manager but they have not returned my calls.

You've got a friend! These people are the nicest, friendliest ever. It's good to feel welcomed. The hotel is clean, and with so many places skimping on breakfast these days, you'll enjoy a fresh, hot, good breakfast before you head out. None of that bitter hotel coffee either. It's good! The beds in our room could be replaced for more comfort, but everything else is great!

Originally booked for 9 nights but cut my stay short after finding a bug. Management said they didn’t know what it is but will have their pest inspectors, Ecolab look into it. Unfortunately the receptionist threw the bug I killed away so there isn’t anything to share, so all I have is the attached picture. So for the story, after a bad thunderstorm and ~9:30pm I was getting ready for bed and figured I better go to the bathroom. I turn on the light and this guy sprints from the towels on the bathroom floor from my morning shower, over towards the wall. I grabbed the towel and started smashing the bug once it cornered itself by the bathroom sink. To me it looks like a cockroach, everyone I’ve shared the picture with agreed, especially with it fleeing once I turned on the light. Best guess is they live in the plumbing and the bad storm and flooding in Iowa had caused them to start coming out. Looking at older reviews for this property (going back 3 years), looks like this isn’t their first time, they probably never resolved their infestation. Other items: - Shower drained slow, they really need to snake it. - Their gym has ‘wipe off equipment’ everywhere, but they did not have anything to wipe the equipment off with in the gym. - Bedding had a lot of stains. - Tiling throughout the building and bathroom is broken. Overall the building appears like it had a lot of potential, but management has allowed it to degrade. The only pros were they have a good breakfast and wifi was good. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had at hotels - it just doesn’t offset having roaches.

The rooms are completely acceptable for a budget hotel stay. Things looked decently clean, but updates are definitely needed. Everything is functional, but obviously worn. Walls are extremely thin. We can hear people coughing in a neighboring room with our tv on.

My family has stayed in this hotel ten or more times going back to 2014, even used the facilities for our daughter’s wedding and so it has been very disappointing to watch the hotel fall into it’s current state. This last visit, it will definitely be my last visit, was unacceptable: the room was not clean, we had to iron our clothes without an ironing board. The shower curtain was missing something on the mounting hardware that made the rod not level so the curtain ( which needed replacing) unable to close properly and the soap dispenser was clearly broken so shampoo was the body wash of the day. The room darkening blinds have many holes in them and the shears looked like they had been dragged through the mud. The elevator, hallways and carpets are disgustingly dirty and needed replacing long ago. I did express my issues with the desk and I was told the owner’s do not want do any upgrades or repairs||Please save your money and choose another venue.

Plus- |1) water pressure was great |2) breakfast was great|3) loved the suites available- perfect for larger families ||Bad|1) Room was not clean upon entering. Staff did change sheets at our request, but not great to have crumbs in your bed. |2) pull out couch bed is falling apart - literally. |3) 2 towels in the bathroom and pool area was out of towels |4) everything in this hotel is out dated. |5) black mold!? in bathroom- just overall in desperate need of refurbishment ||Ugly |1) Parents who let their kids run wild around the hotel while they get drunk in the common area. Yeah - I’m 100% judging you. The staff are not your babysitters. The kids were abusing nearly everything they could get their hands on (soap in the pool area, hot chocolate, phones in the hallway etc.) . I’d probably be open to give the place another chance- but with patrons like this, I’ll never be back.
