WOW!!! What a great stay at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, Dodge City, Kansas. The hotel is relatively new and the accommodations are very well appointed with the latest fixtures and extremely clean in public areas as well the king room that we stayed in. The breakfast had a variety of both hot and cold choices that would satisfy most any discriminating traveler. While having breakfast we met Charlie Meade, Retired Special Deputy US Marshal of Dodge City, who comes over to the hotel to greet the guests and answer questions that the guests may have about Dodge City. WOW!!! Very cool!!! He is typically there in the morning of Mondays - Saturday and has a wealth of knowledge that goes back many decades. We had a fairly lengthy conversation with him and then we discovered that others were waiting to talk to him!!! We felt it was a very nice gesture by the leadership of the hotel to have Special Deputy Meade come over in the mornings and greet the travelers. We hope to come another time and stay at the Holliday Inn Express and Suites and greet Special Deputy Meade for another session of the "history of Dodge City". As it was it was time to "get out of Dodge" and head back to Colorado. What a pleasant experience.

I arrived late on a Friday night for a free anniversary night stay on my IHG rewards club card. The desk ask me for a card to secure any incidental purchases. When getting to my room I find that a charge was pending against my card. Knowing it was a pending charge we thought little about the charge that night. The next morning I checked the charge and it was an odd amount for a simple deposit. So Saturday morning when checking out I inquired about the charge and was told it should have been a 25 dollar charge. I tried to point out that that was not the amount that my card showed that this hotel had charged against my card. The clerk assured me it was still a pending charge that would be credited back to my card. Arriving back home I called again about these charges on Sunday and Monday and was assured all of the pending charges would be taken off of my charge card. Then comes Tuesday morning and I have a permanent charge against my card that is no loner pending. So in essence I've complained five times now and my free night still isn't free. Beware of charges against your credit card is my advice to guest at any hotel and follow up by disputing charges with your credit card company.

My husband are troubled sleepers, so we get two rooms at hotels so that we can sleep. We checked in at 5:45 with an empty parking lot and I asked if we could be on the same floor and were told that it was impossible for us to be on the same floor. When I asked at the front desk, she said "we tried, but weren't able", I hadn't asked for a room on the same floor until that moment and the answer came in 2 seconds. I then called back down while looking at an empty parking lot and asked again to be moved to the same floor. And was told no, that the rooms were pre-assigned, to which I responded that you aren't even sold out and you are telling me that you don't have two rooms available on the same floor? And she said no. Mind you our total bill is $800+ for 2 NIGHTS! I asked for a Manager and was told that there isn't one available all weekend. To which (Miracele?) responded, I don't have anything available. Now, reminder, I am typing this at 6pm and here is a picture of the parking lot and I just logged onto the website before calling down because there are TONS of rooms available. 19 TYPES of rooms available and then none of them said that they were running low on any of those TYPES of rooms. I travel to Dodge a lot to visit my family and I will NOT be staying here again. What a welcome after a 5 hour drive! I am in the service industry and I don't typically get mad, but I am mad. In fact, this is the only negative review that I have ever written and I travel ALL of the time.

When we arrived the girl at the front desk was rude. We then had dog food in the floor of our room when we walked in and the room smelled like poop. We then crawled in to bed and there was a hole in our bed, like a big hole where all the springs on one side are broken and you sink down in that spot 6-8 inches. I let her know about the dog food and she was snarky and said what do you want me to do pick it up. Then I called on the bed and she said ok… can you not just sleep on it?after I ask, She did offer us another room with 1 bed for our family of 4. Very disappointed in the service and quality.

Disappointed. The room and linens looked a little dirty, there was no ventilation / it was not working in the bathroom, plus there was a strong sewer smell emanating from the drains (we closed the sink stopper, used a towel to cover the shower drain and closed the bathroom door; that helped considerably. The kitchenette consisted of a fridge and microwave packed into a very small space but no dishes / utensils and no sink (other than in the bathroom). Although still functional, there seemed to be an alarm going off in the elevators… it was constant and with our room just steps away, it could be heard through the night. We did report it, but nothing changed. The pet area outside unfortunately was covered in dog poop (shame on the pet owners who didn’t pick up after their pets!). The location however was great, just off the main highway and a lovely park close by to walk the dogs. Reception staff were very friendly.

Breakfast omelettes, biscuits and gravy were great - although some of the pastries were hard and stale. Room was clean. Nice furnishings and cabinetry. King size bed was very comfortable. We liked the common area seating and tables for visiting with relatives and breakfast dining. Exercise room was clean and well equipped. Site downtown is a nice change from edge-of-town motels, but it is on a main drag and loud pickup trucks during the evening were a nuisance - bring ear plugs. Not a deal breaker. Staff were friendly and helpful. Main complaint -- bath exhaust did not work, and the technician said all rooms lacked working bath ventilation so I didn't ask for another room. I asked for a refund so we could move to another hotel but they said they couldn't do so because we booked through a 3rd party. Rates seemed on the high side - around $130 per night for 2-day stay on Friday and Saturday. If not for the ventilation problem, would have given 4-5 stars.

This is a newer well maintained property. Check in staff was friendly and even had a treat bag for Buster our dog who was traveling with us. Property is pet friendly with a small grass area in the back when nature calls. Location is the downtown area which we liked. The hotel was quiet and very clean. Breakfast was the typical fare and the area was well stocked and clean. In this price range this Holiday Inn rates 5 stars as this is how it should be done!

This is one of the best Holiday Inn Express hotels I've stayed at! Two things made it the best ... then everything else was cherry on top: 1) the BLACK OUT SHADES in the rooms are the roll down shades ... that means 99% of the window is covered!! Unlike the curtain type that always leaves the edge and middle section uncovered. 2) BREAKFAST was impressive. They had hard boiled eggs peeled and ready in the mini fridge, egg WHITE omelet, regular egg with cheese omelet, TWO different types of yogurts, and everything that's usually standard for continental breakfasts (e.g. muffins, toast, fruits, oatmeal, etc) - interesting how different each Holiday Inn is since it's a chain. Cherry on top: ** EXCELLENT customer service; from the front desk trainee and manager to the lady in charge of the breakfast area. ** They slip your receipt under your door so check out is quick and swift. ** The beds were super comfortable with soft AND firm pillows. I'm not sure why the other Holiday Inn's mattress wasn't as comfortable. 🤷‍♀️ Location: safety is fine. Lack of restaurant/ grocery store selections. Plus, my battery died and my credit card roadside assistance said they couldn't find a single tow company nearby that would provide battery jump start services. Only towing. AAA eventually came through. Phew. Summary: if you're in the area, stay here! Side note: There's a water park right next door

Dog friendly. The pizza was some of the best we have ever had. Our kids love this place! We tried the beer flight which came in a cupcake like tin and every glass was different so you get to try different beers. They all were great!

The best Mexican grocery I’ve ever been to. Was on the way to Phoenix and needed a late lunch. The tortillas are perfect and they have quite few protein/veggie options to load into the tortillas. You can’t go wrong with anything they serve

This was one of the best museums I have ever visited, although I may be somewhat biased as I am obsessed with the wild West. The interactive displays were fun and informative, the information and artifacts were extensive, and you could tell the staff
