Holiday Inn Express & Suites Atlanta-Emory University Area, an IHG Hotel - Hotel in Decatur - 2183 N Decatur Rd, USA

Hello Everyone I would like to share my experience and stay at the Emory Holiday Inn. I have the pleasure of staying in the hotel for training purposes with the Department Human Services and from the 1st checking in upon arrival I was greeted at the front desk staff by Mr Bryan which was so nice and had a beautiful smile and very helpful with room and information regarding my stay. The next person that was helpful and greeted me in the afternoon upon my arrival was Mr Ron he is just the sweetest, always asking us how our day going and ensuring us a good night rest since we’re here on a job training which is much appreciated so much❤️. All I can say is you have an amazing front desk staff. Don’t know the ladies that greet me in the morning, but they are nice also, always saying good morning have a good day! The rooms are clean, and refreshing. So also thanks to the staff for ensuring our rooms are clean daily. The breakfast is amazing, but I will say that the staff need to work on their customer service in that area. At least if you going to stare at guest speak and say good morning, not sure why they stand there if it’s complementary breakfast. I agree with other previous guest regarding the ladies in the breakfast area because they do stand in the eating area watching you enjoy your breakfast like a guard which is very uncomfortable to your guest. We are here for a month in training so we know the company paid a lot for us to stay here so you should not be watched while your enjoying breakfast because it’s definitely not free. But overall my stay has been great no complaints other than your staff in the breakfast area need customer service training. But if you want a good night rest with a amazing breakfast and staff that accommodate you then Holiday Inn Express of Emory is your place!!!! Thank you all again

The hotel staff was some of the friendliest that we've encountered in the metro Atlanta area. The lobby area and rooms were very clean, with no odors nor signs of pests, mold and mildew. The mini fridge and microwave were perfect for my husband who stayed for a week during my hospitalization. This location is very convenient to Emory University/Hospital's main campus.

I didn't like the service I had for breakfast. The women that put out the food were rude and one of them didn't answer my question about if they had silverware that was plastic to take to my room since they made me feel like a freak every morning I was there. There looks and the fact that they straight up ignored me and looked the other way. I felt as if I did something wrong ,did I eat too much food? Was I to tip more? All this went through my head every morning and I am bipolar and suffer from PTSD and depression and I need to eat with my meds. They triggered some bad memories. I didn't even want to eat or come out of my room when I was treated so badly so I had my friend on the last day we stayed there to make me a plate to bring to my room. We planned on staying longer cause our family member was at Emory hospital for a while. The rooms are expensive and for that to happen with the employees that put out breakfast is unacceptable and plus they're making their plates and we couldn't even get them to restock bacon or potatoes on the buffet. They told us it was closing but we still had ten minutes before they did that. They made sure they put a plate and other employees plates to the side for later. Seen that kind of stuff from the first day. Sorry for the long complaint but it needed to be said. Never will I go back again . At least the front desk was helpful and polite. I tipped them well and the house cleaning ladies because they were so nice to me.

Positive: The Staff was superb. Negative: Our particular room had issues with the a/c. It was not running very efficiently. The staff attempted more than once to accommodate us with a different room but we were too lazy and enjoyed the convenience of a first floor room.

We were in Atlanta for a wedding and were able to see a few other attractions while in the Atlanta area . The location was good for us. Short drive to Avondale light-rail station (free parking) for an easy ride to downtown Atlanta. The room (king bed) was clean and comfortable. All the staff we met were wonderful - friendly and helpful. Great value for the room rate we paid.

First, let me couch this review by stating that I have been a loyal IHG rewards member for at least ten years and have stayed at numerous IHG properties in Georgia and abroad. I was slated to check in to this property in May 2024, however ended up having an emergency that caused me to have to cancel my reservation on the day of check in. Part of the reason I have used IHG for so many years is because of their generous cancellation policy that allows for cancellation up to 6:00 p.m. on the date of check in. However, that is apparently not the case with this property and I, unfortunately, was not aware of their 48hr cancellation policy. I found out that the hotel was charging me for the first night stay. I spoke to the GM and explained my situation, but she was not interested, stating that they had already basically given me a “pass” for a cancellation in January that I was not familiar with considering that I have been operating under the misunderstanding that all IHG properties allowed a no fee cancellation up to 6:00 p.m. on the day of check in. In my line of work plans often change at the last minute and I feel sure that no one can plan an emergency 48hrs in advance. If you can, then kudos to you. The hotel was provided with the opportunity to practice some empathy and they chose not to. Rest assured, I am well aware of your policy now and I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Just off the phone with the hotel, we were going to reserve a room for 7 nights until the woman at the desk said the owner (Peter) does not honor or offer a military rate. Well then, your 420.00 more a night than the other IHG hotels, you don't honor a military rate and your staff seemed extremely pleased you don't. So no thank you, leave your rooms empty, and if you can't offer military rates then I hope IHG drops you from the referral program.

We stayed here the night before visiting the GA Aquarium, and it was a great choice for us, as we were coming from North Carolina, so we didn’t actually have to enter Atlanta that night. Free parking, clean rooms, large shower, friendly staff (my daughter raved about Celeste). Easy drive to the GA Aquarium the next day that didn’t require any major highways.
