I’ve stayed here a hundred times, through all the remodels and construction. It’s gotten better and I like the restaurant on the main lobby. That’s convenient for a quick drink and the food has always been good for me. The restaurant service is good, they always are super nice there.
My only issue is that some of the public areas need to be better cleaned. They need a floor scrubber for the lobby and restaurant floors. The elevator is also always dirty on the floor. So a bit more attention to detail is needed by the housekeeping staff and manager to be honest. Invest in the right cleaning machines and process and it would be a lot better, and that’s easy stuff for ownership to buy for staff and hold them accountable for higher cleaning standards.
The manager Jayne was on site and friendly. The entire property was sparkling clean. Modern lobby with old world charm. Restaurant and bar on site. Shuttle will take you anywhere in 2 mile radius. We opted to take short walk to Dottie's Cafe for breakfast. It opens at 5:30am good food and friendly service. It's a local favorite. Indoor pool also. We will return!!
When we arrived the two ladies were kind and very informative/helpful. The room was clean and had a great view! The air conditioning was great along with fresh towels soap options. The morning came and went to the lobby and didn’t have a great interaction with a worker with short red hair. I had questions about the breakfast and was met with condescending answers and it made me feel uncomfortable. Overall it was a great stay but the restaurant lost business this morning.
Beautiful historic downtown Dubuque, Iowa. Walking distance to several restaurants and bars including the Diamond Jo Casino. Hotel of course has a shuttle to areas close by. Stayed here before and this last stay I found the lobby remodeled. Very posh. Love the colors and lighting. Staff friendly and helpful. Stayed in a newly remodeled room with a spacious bathroom and walk in shower. Has a wonderful restaurant with amazing food. Nice little hotel bar too. Breakfast buffet or can order off the menu. I would definitely suggest off the menu. It is dog friendly as I saw some patrons with their fur babies. Parking ramp is being updated. We had no problem with parking. They have a small pool and fitness center (which I never used.) All in all great stay for the money and the downtown atmosphere.
My husband and I visited dubuque for the first time. We decided to get some lunch here and we met the coolest person named Jason. Jason was very welcoming! Great sense of humor throughout our whole lunch and the service-food was amazing! We can't wait to come back and I hope he's working!
Unfortunately we had a bad experience. My first impression was awful as I used the lobby restroom after driving from the airport and the powerful stench of sour urine was overwhelming. The next morning we had breakfast at the buffet which consisted of dried out pancakes, dried out bacon and flies buzzing around the "fresh" fruit. The next day a storm caused a power outage which is not the hotel's fault of course, but we were very inconvenienced when trying to make our way down to the street in dark stairwells that had non functional emergency lights and to top it off,,, when we reached the street emergency exit,,,it was locked and no amount of force would open the door! Had there been a real emergency, say a fire, we could very well have DIED in that stairwell. We were forced to climb back up the stairs, walk all the way around the hotel floor to the opposite stairwell, again with no functioning emergency lights, and find our way down to the lobby. The Dubuque Fire Marshall received a tip about this major safety violation. Would I recommend this hotel, absolutely not.
Good location while in Dubuque. Lots of stores, restaurants and things to do near it. The hotel is being renovated right now and is looking gorgeous. The service was great, did not wait long at check in. The rooms do feel on the older side, the shower is really small and most of the channels on the tv did not work. I’m sure with the renovations the rooms will be updated.
One thing we really did not like, they show pictures of a hot tub on Expedia, but when we got there the hot tub was literally cemented over. We chose this hotel for the hot tub and how late the pool area was open, which is 11pm.
Positive: Clean and comfortable rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Large lobby with bar. Negative: The parking garage was not available due to construction. This was very inconvenient as we stayed for three nights and had to park in the garage down the street.
Our experience was amazing, they were all so accommodating. We had a mishap in our room and a wine bottle broke. They donât have bell boys and the person to help clean it was the receptionist at the front desk. She offered to clean it for us which
