Nice place to visit. Rooms were clean and staff was helpful. Lots to do here and in the nearby area. The golf course was close and had reasonable prices. $5 for all the golf balls you can hit (hot weather special). Free fishing in private lake. Would bring a bicycle next time to get around. Also bring charcoal for the grills outside.

As so many previous reviewers mentioned this resort is nice but it is in need of an update.|This is our first time here so please keep that in mind as you read on.|We stayed in the old units (cabins), there is also a section that looks newer, and that one is right on the shore of lake Palestine. You can walk or drive to both parts of the resort.|PROS: |1. beautiful location, so tranquil and relaxing, perfect for a weekend getaway with the whole family.|2. the recreation center is wonderful, with so many free activities to keep everyone entertained. Mini golf, tennis, pickle ball, corn hole, bocce, basketball, etc. all free. |3. they allow pets for an additional cleaning fee (most resort won’t allow pets).|4. Very friendly staff.|5. Clean units (kudos to the personnel doing their best keeping the old units clean no matter the worn out, and old conditions).|6. At the old resort they have a small cafe that has a decent menu, from coffees, smoothies to burgers.|7. Next to the old units there is a water park, small one but perfect for young kids, it’s about $20 a day (I believe it’s $18 if you stay at the resort) inside they also have a Subway and pizza place.|CONS:|1. The old units are in need of |updating. Badly! I won’t digress on this because plenty of other reviewers pointed this out. Sadly management is not listening…|2. As we entered the unit there was a very strong musty, moldy smell. We were somehow prepared and used diffusers in the rooms. I assume the smell came from the old carpet (if they would replace it with laminate it would help to get rid of the smell). The unit was clean and organized so it wasn’t due to lack of cleaning.|3. The food options are limited so be prepared to drive if you wish to eat at a restaurant.

If you are looking for a RITZY condo....this is as far as you need to read.... move on. IF you want peace, quiet and laid back read on. The staff persons are friendly and caring. Unit is very clean and has all the kitchen equipment you need. BBQ pit is on the porch. Beds are comfortable. It could stand a bit of updated furniture however, it meets our needs. Nature trail on site and very close by. We have enjoyed our stay here for about 8-10 years. We look forward for the trip. The property is kept nice and this is a Gated Community

I was attacked by a young deer that the managers warned me about as I checked in. It just came right up to me from behind and put its hooves on my shoulders! They should do something about him. The smell of urine was so bad in our unit that we asked to be moved. The next unit was fine but annoying that the air con was loud, and the bathroom is in the bedroom with no wall. The staff was very nice though. It is more of a motel 6 than a resort.

Of the old silver leaf resorts this was the smallest. There’s not as many things to do and things open late and close early, nearest city of note is 45 minutes away. But it’s peaceful and quiet, no hooligans starting a fight like at The Villages. My wife and I, along with our toddler had a great time

Overall Great place to visit. Quiet when you want peace and quiet or exciting when you want things to do. Fishing is great on their private lake and no need for fishing license for out of state visitors.

This is a pretty old location. In fact, I believe it may have been the first Silverleaf timeshare resort. The buildings show their age, but everything works; it's clean; and they are slowly replacing things like furniture and carpeting. The beds are older but are dressed with Holiday Inn bedding so you sleep very well. With all the amenities, it's a family paradise. I'm an older woman that just wanted some quiet time to work online and commune with nature on my off time. They met my needs spectacularly.

Horrible!|There a lot of snotty people with "big fish in a little pond" syndrome. The scenic beauty is amazing but the few persons that seem to "run" Holly Lake Ranch ruin that beauty by their prejudices & "different rules for different people" ways. If u visit, know if u don't fit in their "type," u very well may incur a bunch of harassment & excessive fines to run u out. It is in dire need of a new regimen. It's like a bunch of grumpy old people that still have high-school clique mentality. |Also, the Lakes have sewer from the homes that empty in them and can make u & ur pets very sick.|I would not recommend choosing this place for a "nice" vacation.
