Holiday Inn & Suites Duluth-Downtown, an IHG Hotel - Featured Reviews (2050)
Room 1502
Large room was odor-free, very clean & quiet (until about 730a, when a door slammed), with a great layout & well-thought-out furnishings, such as a rolling desk that nests. King bed was comfortable & climate control worked well.
We paid for the $143/n room with points. Check in was quick & easy. Received a text to verify the room was good and another in the morning.
Kcups provided were 2 regular, 2 decaf & 2 tea.
Breakfast is not included. Restaurants on site.
Unlimited entry to parking garage with provided ticket (on check in)
My daughter had her wedding ceremony at the Lyric Conference Center and her reception in the Great Lakes Ballroom last Saturday. Everyone was really helpful on the day of and everything went well. We especially appreciated Manny. Not sure what his title is there but he made himself available to us for whatever we needed and went above and beyond to help wherever he could, which was extremely nice, especially the morning after when he had done a lot to make our exit way easier than I had anticipated!
We were disappointed in this one. We usually have consistent experiences at Holiday Inns, but this one kinda needed updated (at least the floor we were on), our air/heat didn't work properly, our room fridge didn't work and they kept saying they were having someone come change it and never did. The location is great though close to downtown. We will probably pass on this one next time, unfortunately.
I had an incredibly disappointing stay at the Holiday Inn & Suites Duluth Downtown. The main issue was the lock on my door, which completely malfunctioned, leaving me locked out for an entire night. Despite my repeated attempts, I couldn’t open the door from the outside. The situation was so dire that the hotel had to call in a maintenance guy in the middle of the night to let me in. Adding to the frustration, there were no other rooms available to accommodate us.
The overall condition of the hotel is severely lacking. It’s old and desperately in need of renovation. The bathtub in our room didn’t drain properly, causing water to pool up, which was both inconvenient and unsanitary. The rooms were uncomfortably hot, humid, and had a musty smell that was hard to ignore.
Given the high price tag, I expected a much better experience. Unfortunately, the outdated facilities and the significant inconvenience of being locked out all night made this stay absolutely not worth it. I strongly advise looking elsewhere for accommodations in Duluth.
Great hotel in Duluth. We had a great view of the harbor and the lift bridge. It was within walking distance of all the things we wanted to do and the connection to the skywalk was a bonus as well. The staff was fantastic and if you get tired of walking they have a great shuttle to take you places as well. Would definitely stay there again.
Our shuttle driver was friendly and on time. Gave great advice on the area for families. (I think his name was Don on the 4th of July)
The room was comfortable enough, interesting wallpaper situation and no microwave which bummed us out since we had restaurant leftovers we had wanted to warm up and were then unable to. There are two pools and the entire hotel smelled like chlorine and had a lot of humidity in the hallways. Kids slept great though! I do think the room was overpriced though. Will likely opt for a different hotel on our next visit to Duluth.
The hotel was nice enough, the cleanliness left much to be desired. There was sticky kids candy (Gobstoppers) embedded in the carpet and our air conditioning in the room did not function, so we were forced to sweat it out in an expensive room for 3 days. The climate control seems to be a chronic issue mentioned by many reviewers throughout the hotel. But, since hotel rooms in Duluth are in such demand and guests will pay premium price regardless for the rooms, property owners have little incentive to fix issues in their establishments. Apart from that, the pool was way too cold and the chlorine content in the hot tub was excessive, leading to our eyes burning uncontrollably.
Really an all-around meh experience. During our June stay, we were put in an accessible room (not requested) next to the pool. The room was damp and loads of kids could be heard screaming and splashing constantly (glad they were having a good time, tho!). The parking garage was tight and under construction. The room itself was pretty standard for a Holiday Inn. Front desk staff were just fine, nothing memorable. Will opt for somewhere else next time we’re visiting Duluth.

We had an incredible stay and loved that it was in the heart of the Lincoln Park neighborhood - there were lots of shopping and breweries within close walking distance. The room itself was amazing, very spacious and stylish and we felt right at home.
