Ho-Hum Motel - Motel in Ashtabula - 3801 N Ridge Rd W, USA

He owners are very shady, they charged me for my lil dog with worry he would chew the room lol but wen I walked into the room it was just discusting, curtains on window were stained yellow and ripped ,no privacy in bathroom for that window blind was worn and broke, I pulled back bedding and the sheets were already slept in wrinkles and dirt from someone laying with shoes on. I asked for sheets and they gave them to me but said they cleaned and changed them . No way housekeeping was in there before I checked in. Looks nice outside but ,RUN, RUN AWAY!

I stayed at this motel a decade ago. It is a small mom & pop place. I have no issue with that - i don't need super fancy, just clean and quiet. The room we were in smelled so bad of smoke I had to wash all of our clothes 2x to get the smell out completely. The carpets are so gross I would not take my shoes off. The sheets & towels appeared clean. The bathroom was the cleanest thing in the room. Rooms are very outdated which is fine but there is a difference between out dated and run down. Only 1 outlet in the room worked. I was shocked a the price - it was not what I was quoted. I could have stayed at the motel 6 a few miles away for the same price and a more update & modern room. The gentleman who was manning the front desk seemed very put - out that he had to actually do work. We were told the motel was booked solid and could not check in until 3pm. We went at 1 to just pay for our room, then we were headed to the beach. I had to call 2x to get someone to come to the desk. I explained we did not want to go to the room we just wanted to get all the paperwork, etc out of the way and pay. I was informed after checking in that the room was in-fact ready. I asked when we left in the AM if we needed to do anything he stated just call like you did to check in. I told him it would be about 6am - he just nodded. At 630am I called several times to no answer - left the key on the desk and left. I really hope they put the $$ into this motel and make it what it really could be. The location is nice - lots to do in the area. I travel a ton - stayed at lots of mom & pop motels - this one by far is the absolute worst I have been in for the price you have to pay! Do yourself a favor go elsewhere!

They must clean with extra strength bleach next next 24 hours was rough on my throat and lungs

It was kinda dirty & run down. I'm pretty sure that if I'd had a blacklight... I'd have ran out screaming. Bathroom door didn't latch, sheets were stained, bed torn to hell underneath & the box spring was covered in animal hair. Definitely not in my top 5 hotels... or even top 10. I honestly wouldn't pay to stay there. My sister paid for it. There was a mini fridge & microwave, which I liked... but there was open stuff in it, so they obviously don't clean thoroughly.

Very friendly. Willing to work with their clients. Andy is very polite and well rounded about the city of ashtabula. Terry is pretty nice guy too.

We didn't arrive and check in until midnight. The gentleman was very friendly and showed up as soon as we called on the phone in the lobby. The lobby was small, but offered a lot of pamphlets for things to do in the surrounding area. The room was clean. There was a small refrigerator and microwave. The decor was flowered and pretty. We were able to get a good nights sleep, shower in the morning, and then start out again. I would stay there again if I was traveling through the area.

Very quaint, but also clean & quiet. Chose this place for the "ambiance" - because it was an independent "Mom 'n Pop" motel. It has all the perks - flowered decor, screen doors that spring back, 50's style feel. It's like a trip back in time, really fun. But even though its old, its still clean and tidy. Also felt safe staying there. It's handy for visiting the covered bridges of Ashtabula County.

Ima be honest.. the customer service is REALLY bad.. but the owners old and can be cool... and his sons are spoiled and angry lol.. BUT for the price (compared to other local prices) the Ho Hum is a good deal. While in was working there Feb-July.. the rooms where clean. I know they weren't before because of all the EXTRA cleaning i had to do at first. Things weren't done right for a while. I also got a lot of new sheets and towels into rotation and put the yucky stuff away. I never seen one bed bug the whole time and i have delt with them before so i know what it looks like even tho two peolle claimed they seen them... they where never there. The grounds are beautiful. TONS OF ROOM in the back with a creek for dogs or even kids. Tucked off of the rd so its fairly quiet. I quit due to a leg injury and left on not so good terms but it wasnt bad while I was there..the decor and furniture is old and in the whole place they have 2 flat screens (1 i left for a room) and the rest are old. There IS WIFI but only in rooms 2-6. ( and barely 1) If your on a budget and like privacy and quiet...i would def recommend it.. just dont take rm 4. It needs to be re done.
