After a relative stayed here a few years ago I was a little worried about staying with my 2 small children. They remodeled the rooms, and it’s actually super cute now. Our room was a basic double queen bed room, with bathroom. There was also a mini fridge microwave and coffee maker.
Rooms have been updated and are nice. Service was really good. Only frustration was having to pay $50 to have my children stay with me one night.
First-time rooms with fully equipped kitchen. It was kind of a nice cottage but not that sophisticated. Great for quick and short getaway. Easy access is 15-20 minutes to the beach and a little bit more to the Santa Cruz boardwalk. Like the hospitality and the owner as well.
Clean room with no frills. A great deal at $110 per night. The only issues we had were related to noise our neighbors made. At around 2am one of our neighbors drove in and sat in their car for an hour blasting music. Recommend bringing earplugs.
I booked this hotel while I was on the road traveling up the coast to Santa Cruz. I checked into this hotel at 7pm, when I got to the room, I had to get some work done and send a few emails. It was dark and I just sat by a lamp and finished a few things on my computer. I then turned on more lights and started looking around the room and realized it was dirty and run down, the sheets were dirty and there was a weird hatch in the ceiling of the bathroom and I just didn't feel comfortable. I'm a young girl traveling alone and I always try and go with my gut and I didn't feel safe or comfortable so I checked out. I was in the room for an hour and 15 minutes total. I did not lay in the bed or use the shower or anything. I only went to the bathroom and washed my hands. When I went to check out the manager Danny refused to give me a refund so I left and went to another hotel. My mom called and asked him to do the right thing and please issue a refund he said that their policy is "Crystal Clear" that refunds are only given within 15 minutes of check-in if not satisfied. Even a partial refund would have been a nice gesture and very much appreciated, he would have had to go the room and wipe down the toilet which I would bet he didn't do before he booked it again. He refused to talk to my Mom any further, so she hung up. I found a lovely hotel a mile away, Aqua, for the same price, they actually gave me a discount when I told them what happened, unfortunately I had to pay for 2 hotel rooms. I also looked around and there are many other nice choices for the same or a little more money. ||Not nice Danny! Do unto others etc.....
My family was doing vacation on a limited budget and the Hitching Post fit the bill. Sheri, the owner, was an excellent hostess. The room was one of the cleanest hotel rooms ever. My son struggles with contamination OCD and nothing freaked him out about this room. Yes, it is an older hotel but it is well maintained. Drawbacks for some travelers would be breakfast is not included and there are limited restaurant options. However, our double full-size room had a microwave and fridge. We always bring food with us so this was not a problem. It located about to miles from the turnoff for the north rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Since one has to drive a good distance between the north and south rims, this was an ideal place to spend one night.
Had a room reserved here for Saturday night. When we arrived to check in the office was empty. The manager/owner was not there and left his under aged daughter to cover. Spoke to him on the phone, at first he claimed we had no room, even though we'd already been charged for it. When we questioned the lack of service he became belligerent and told us if we didn't like it to go phuck ourselves. Needless to say we didn't stay. Also the parking lot was filled with less than desirable people hanging out, smoking, and drinking. This place isn't even a 2 star motel, and the owner is beyond rude and inhospitable.
Spacious rooms with a giant kitchen and eating area separated with a door. Reminds me of an apartment from my younger days. I travel for business a lot and am spoiled from nice hotels so it's a dicey gamble when I decide to book a cheap one. We were prepared to leave if it was terrible. For the price we were worried. It was great! They could definitely charge more. There was a little visible wear, like paint bubbles or a cracked tile, but the place was super clean, bathroom was nice. I had no complaints. It was better than I expected for the price. Having the full kitchen to make drinks and snacks in was a bonus. I've stayed here twice now and won't hesitate to again. By the way, no issues with homeless. Some locations in Santa Cruz struggle with that but I didn't see any issues here. Easy parking. Drug store and sushi across the street, and a quick Uber to downtown where our concert was. Check in/out was quick and easy.
I had a really nice stay here. I booked through Expedia and got an incredible deal! Since I was last here the rooms have been upgraded and I thought mine was spectacular. Had everything I needed. Very attractive, very clean. Hotel staff was lovely, l
