The Hotel Chester, its owners, and its staff are all absolute jewels. I came in from out of state to attend a funeral and wanted a place to stay that would be a quiet comfort. That can be a hard thing to find on the first football weekend of the season when the energy is running high and rooms all over town are completely filled. Luckily, I found a ‘Bachelor Queen’ (a description I love) at Hotel Chester. Admittedly, the rates were high, but that is to be expected on a big event weekend, and I was willing to pay for the convenience, safety, and comfort I thought I’d find there.| After making my reservation, I emailed them to ask about check in time and parking and to let them know that I might be late getting to the hotel (the service was in the late afternoon/early evening). I was surprised (and moved) to receive an email from the owner telling me my room would be ready extra early and that I was welcome to check in early so I could freshen up before the service. How incredibly kind! When I arrived, the sweet young lady at desk efficiently checked me in. When I entered my room, I smiled. I love historic hotels (and all historic buildings), and this sweet little room had the charm of a different time. There was plenty of space and the layout of the room was perfect. It was also impeccably clean. I freshened up and was off to the service (in a rural area about a half hour away). |When I returned, another kind young lady at the desk asked if I needed anything. I asked about local restaurants and breakfast in the morning (they offer morning pastries and a classic place is just around the corner if a hot breakfast is wanted). She had several suggestions, but as I was tired, I opted not to have dinner that night. Instead, I enjoyed the comfort and quiet of my room (despite the place being full of celebrants due to the game). The bed was comfy, and I rested exceptionally well. After breakfast, I loaded up early and was fortunate to meet David (the owner) and thank him personally. What a kind gentleman he is!|When I return to Starkville, I will definitely stay at Hotel Chester again. Lovely place. Lovely people. Thanks again, David and company, you all made a tough journey much easier. I’ll see you again!

King room single. The setup and room decoration was pretty basic. The king bed was comfortable, had good soft bedding and plenty of fluffy soft pillows. That was the best part. I noticed right off that my comforter and pillow cases hadn’t been changed from who had the room previously. (Small stains) 😷. Addressed this to the people at the front desk. They happily changed everything for me asap. The staff was nice and it was a quiet place. Except for the AC unit turning on and off through the might right beside me. The room has 3 windows all with levolor blinds and black out curtains. The two large windows let in plenty of natural light, but the view outside is horrendous. Nothing but a roof of the building next door. That was disappointing. The toiletries are the same you’d get from a hotel, for half the price. |Yes, I’d stay again, but I would go for a less costly room.

It’s nice to see this place made it after all. Yep, I too saw the episode featuring Gordon Ramsey and hotel Chester. I know the show is scripted but I also know that the changes and publicity , helped the two owners and allowed them to enjoy life once again. To those that say the rooms are too small- you need to understand what a HISTORIC hotel is. The rooms will always be smaller in a historic building. And yes that includes the bathrooms. Their food was great . And I’m sure it still is now , years later.The staff is very nice and the place is exactly what you would expect from a historic hotel . Suki and her husband are very nice . Same grateful and humble characters they were in the show . They are real people with good hearts.

If you need a place to fall in Love again, this is it! Forget about all the garbage going on in the world and sit back and relax. Food is excellent and simple. The beer garden is so chill. Everybody just hangs out together, doesn’t matter who you came with it’s so welcoming. The rooms are clean and charming. Someone put a lot of care into every part of this place. If you’re lucky enough to meet the owners you’ll know why this place is what it is. I felt so sad leaving. It’s that sweet of a place. Please don’t change a thing.

nice historical hotel,located downtown, very friendly staff, and we were given great service. the owner was great and friendly as well.

For us this was perfect! We are in for parents weekend at Mississippi State and needed a place to stay as all hotels were packed. We loved our stay. We needed a nice place to sleep and shower and we got that. We went to a great cafe around the corner so we didn’t need an all inclusive breakfast. We WILL be back next time we visit our Daughter. The bed is comfortable and the ladies up front are so sweet. Thank you for a great place to stay for two days.

The owners of this hotel are two of the most hardworking, humble people I have ever met. They have an amazing property and I had a great stay in my cute and comfy room. I would love to come back here and I am beyond appreciative for the wonderful visit I had thanks to them.
