Historic Buxton Inn - Featured Reviews (538)
We celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary last night with a stay at the Buxton Inn in room #9. We definitely had some experiences! When we came back from dinner, as soon as we opened be door, we were overwhelmed with the smell of gardenia perfume. I had named the smell before doing some reading that this was the scent Miss Bonnie wore. We did not see anything, but the ghost cat paid a visit in the wee hours of the morning. I wasn’t sure if I was dreaming or awake, but it was surreal nonetheless. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, and our stay was great! The craft cocktails at the Tavern were great and Kaitlyn was very personable as she shared her experiences with us. There aren’t many places you can go in Ohio where there is this much history. I just wish they served a limited menu - even if just snacks. For $200 a night, there should be at least that. We hope to visit again.
We could not have been happier with this GEM of a place! We were traveling from seeing family in Indiana back to our home in Brooklyn, NY and I came upon this beautiful Inn and quaint town of Granville, Ohio. Wow! We wished we had more time to explore the local Farmers Market taking place the morning we left. However we managed to get a true “townie” experience at Taco Dans, amazing coffee at OneLove Cafe and Bikes as well as a super cool and eclectic shopping experience at Sister Salvage and Soles. And the Buxton Inn didn’t disappoint! So welcoming, comfortable, extremely charming and like I said, you’ll want a longer stay! We loved it and hope to be back to truly experience their historic Tavern! Thank you to the Buxton Staff and the people of Granville!
Our daughter got married here out in courtyard and had here reception here. An absolutely beautiful venue. Arlena, the event coordinator, and Mark who was at the front desk were amazing in the way they supported us and responded to everything we needed day before wedding and the wedding day itself. We can’t thank you enough. Also the food was spectacular.
We hosted our daughters Rehearsal/Welcome party at the Buxton Inn this past weekend. What a beautiful, historic place to have an event! Arlena did a fantastic job with the food, the garden room was set up beautifully! We also had a lot of guests who stayed there, and the rooms are clean, updated with modern amenities, but still remain in the decor and fashion of the era it represents. Highly recommend if you looking for a unique place to hold any type of event!
As our daughter just graduated from Denison University, we have made frequent trips to Granville, Ohio to visit her over the past 4 years. We absolutely loved our weekends at The Buxton Inn. The Buxton Inn is a charming hotel run professionally by staff who are helpful and accommodating. Mark and Mike are both exceptional at the Front Desk. The rooms are decorated beautifully in a traditional manner. There are clean and the bathrooms are updated. The location is wonderful to the town and to the University. A Continental Breakfast is offered in the mornings and it is very nice with bagels, yogurts and delicious coffee. The restaurant is open for special parties, but not on a nightly basis. However, just across the street is The Granville Inn, which has a wonderful restaurant and bar. The Inn has several buildings as part of the property. We had several members of our party in adjacent buildings to us and we gathered on a shared porch to visit. It was a lot of fun! My family and I enjoyed our stay at The Buxton Inn so much. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is a fantastic hotel and we truly love it.
Great Location, in the heart of Granville. The rooms are clean and ours was spacious, the bed and bedding was very comfortable as well. The Front Desk and Bartenders were helpful, offering suggestions about local restaurants and the history of the Inn. It is 200 years old, so expect some creaks in the floor and oddly shaped rooms but in our mind that adds to the character. Looking forward to staying here again!
I stayed two nights while attending a weddding. I arrived at noon following an all night flight, and the front desk clerk was so kind as to arrange for an early check in for me. The room was lovely, with a historic feel, yet nothing was old or broken. Very clean and comfortable. Perfect place to stay in Granville.
My husband Chris and I had the honor of being the first wedding at the Buxton since its fire in 2022. It has been beautifully-restored, and it continues to embody the rich history for which it is know. We did our ceremony in the Lincoln Room, right in front of a portrait of Lincoln, celebrating the history of the inn (having hosted President Lincoln and playing a part in the Underground Railroad). The 1812 Room is where we had our cocktail hour, and the Garden Room is where we had our dinner. Drinks and food were all delicious, and the service was great, from the detailing of napkins that matched our wedding colors to after-dinner coffee being served. I had the immense pleasure of working with Arlena, the Buxton Inn’s event coordinator, who exuded such warmth and hospitality. She was incredibly personal both on the phone and in person. She provided great guidance, including recommendations for photography and flowers. My husband loved conversing with her at the bar, and we were touched by the mementos she gave us at the end of the night. If you are coming to Granville, the Buxton Inn will certainly be a place you don’t want to miss!
The bio reserve is my go to for trail running. If you want low elevation change the south side trails are best. The north side trails provide more elevation change. The nature is always abundant. Pileated woodpecker in the picture. Deer and squirrels
Cool place to visit. The lake is very calm and perfect for those learning to kayak or use a small boat. Take a walk in the woods, the trails are easy and the view inside is amazing. There is a trail with fairy houses which my daughter was very excit
Nourishing, delicious food served with care! Great selection of sandwiches, salads, deli sides, and treats. Canât go wrong with the trio of deli salads; all are delicious! Service is fantastic and they offered seating in a sunny dining room of the
Great cidery. If you like traditional English cider and not the overly sweetened cider that dominates most of the U.S. market, this is the place to go. The Farmhouse cider was amazing.
Palumboâs Italian Market has been a Granville Staple for such a long time. I personally am a big fan of their lasagna. Everything tastes fresh and well prepared. If looking for some Italian cuisine I highly recommend stopping in and visiting these
Three Tigers Brewing is located in Downtown Granville. Itâs such a cute town with so many places to walk between. They offer craft cocktails & craft house brewed beer. We tried the Lavender Whiskey Sour & Juice Bazooka IPA. We were both happy with
Visited via the T.J Evans Trail which is a heck of a nice feature. On a nicer day, the outdoor seating looks to be a treat. The brick pavers give it a great look. On a Saturday late morning they were plenty busy. Counter service was efficient and
