Nice place for a short hike which can be extended if you do the loop a couple times. There is also a dog park, picnic tables w/ a charcoal grill and a small playground.
This is a great place to hike.
First, it has a large dog park area for pets to run.
This park also has a few baseball diamonds.
There are 3 separate trails, of which I hiked two of.
The first is the WOODLAND TRAIL. This was mostly a gravel or grass trail almost completely in the woods and the path averaged about 5-8 feet wide.
The day I went was after a rain and the bugs were bad so, anytime after a rain, wear plenty of bug spray. Even after the heavy rain there were NO muddy areas. Along the trail were lots of informative signs about history of area and of the nature itself.
This loop was a little less than 2 miles.
Second trail I went on was the PRAIRIE TRAIL. This was a, just under 2 mile loop. A majority of this trail followed the outer most border of the ball fields and right along the prairie where there were (out of the prairies I’ve hiked this year so far) the MOST wildflower variations in one area at one time.
These ranged from black eyed Susan, purple cone flower, wild bergamot, pinnate prairie coneflower, lance leaved coreopsis, common sow thistle, bird eye speedwell, slender mountain mint, garden phlox, wild climbing rose, white campion, hedge bindweed, spreading hedge parsley, gray’s sedge, great Waterleaf(woods), creeping thistle, common milkweed, Indian hemp, daisy fleabane, wild teasel, self heal, yarrow, yellow and white sweet clover, white vervain, Virginia creeper, black raspberry and Allegheny blackberry.
All this was just what was in bloom and doesn’t include the varieties yet to bloom.
If you love wildflowers you need to go here.
This is also where I saw a variety of butterflies, moths and skippers to include the rare HUMMINGBIRD MOTH (picture included in photos)
I will definitely be going back in a couple weeks to do the WETLAND TRAIL. This trail is a 1.3 mile loop.
Great walk for the little ones. Had an outdoor book library box and a little storyline for kids to practice their reading as you walk through the trails. Wouldn't recommend if it's rained a lot recently as the terrain is grassy and our feet were soaked by the end, but was still enjoyable.
Nice park with well maintained trails and a hike to the top of the hill for a great view. The hike up the hill is what I consider moderate. There are other areas to the park and a playground and farm buildings.
We were married here and it had amazing scenery! Great deal for everything you get.
Beautiful park with low foot traffic! With all the rain last night, most of the wetland trail is a creek right now. The view from the observation deck is awesome! Will return!
Stopped by here for a telescope event held by the Fred Bay Observatory and Warren Co Astronomical Society. Although there is light pollution on the horizon it's fairly dark for the county and has a decent amount of parking. The telescope is a big refractor built by Fred Bay out of agricultural tubing!
We love visiting here. There are never very many people here. The playground is nice, the trails are well marked, and the dog park is great too.

We stumbled across this on a visit to Waynesville. For $5, it's a phenomenal tour. The building architecture, the local history and the antiques are worth the visit. Pat was our tour guide and she was absolutely amazing and we loved our time with her
We love this place. Kayaking the lake is awesome. Fishing can be good and enjoyable. Playgrounds all around for the kiddos. Hiking, fossil hunting, picnicking, camping. It's got it all. Haven't camped yet but intend to this coming year. Mostly enjoy
My husband and I stayed at Hammel House Inn as a little staycation away from our teens, and really enjoyed the place. The rooms were lovely, with comfortable beds, plenty of space , and other included amenities. The restaurant was amazing and had nic
I seriously cannot express how impressed I was with this place! Waitstaff is nice, attentive, and efficient. The outdoor seating area is fantastic, with a roof and plenty of fans to keep air circulating. But the food is the real star of this establi
