I love Hinata! The food and atmosphere are really amazing. It’s an 8 course menu that takes you to Japan. Sweet staff and owners. I highly recommend trying it. While on the expensive side, it’s worth it.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hinata, and I am thrilled to share my experience with you. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an extraordinary dining adventure. Meal was set for 8 courses with drink pairing, which was perfect with each dish. I am not a big fan of sake so they switched to wine for each course. Throughout the evening, our server expertly guided us through each course. It was a faster experience through the night. We did suggest to slow down each course to give more room for conversation. Overall, each dish was prepared perfectly, a unique experience, and a small fine dinning atmosphere. I would give the food a 4.5 if possible and it’s only our opinion; the dessert was not our favorite and would have loved an option to switch it out for the birthday dessert that looked incredible. Highly recommend for those who are looking for a place in downtown Indianapolis that has unique food and like intimate dining experience.
I’ve gone three times over 3 years since they’ve opened. One of the best Japanese restaurants in the Midwest! An authentic curated experience using local fresh ingredients. The service is amazing. The alcohol list is expansive and fantastic. My only regret is I can’t come back more often because I am an out of towner Try this restaurant, you will not regret it.
This was quite honestly the best dining experience I have had in Indy. The service is unmatched. The quality of the food is incredible and I don’t have enough great things to say about this absolute hidden gem. We will be adding this to our regular rotation of dining out.
One of the best dining experiences in Indy. We did the chef's tasting menu with the wine pairing. All the food was amazing. The wine pairings were excellent and thoughtful. The sablefish with Daikon radish was our favorite dish of the evening. The staff was attentive and thoughtful.
My husband brought me here for my 42nd birthday. I'm a rather eccentric person but the staff enjoyed me anyway. They were very attentive and accommodating. I have problems digesting dairy and as long as I minimize consumption I won't get much stomach upset (ice cream how I miss thee!). Hinata's chef was able to make 8/9 courses dairy-free and the 9th had very little. My 1st course was the most different from the menu as it was fried shrimp dumplings in a silky daishi broth, topped with scallions. Very, very good. We opted for the recommended pairings and omg was it very generous. If you are not a regular drinker, like us, it was a lot. Neither one of us finished everything but we each found the pairings well-matched and determined to buy a couple of them some time. The food was fresh and glorious. Since there is a rotating menu, we will have to find an excuse to return. Beware the tasting menu is very pricey. However, we like to do these from time to time and though it is expensive, it is very in line with other such places around Indy & Michigan.
Absolutely love everything about Hinata. I was full and filled with joy during and after dining at Hinata
Hinata was a wonderful restaurant. The chef used a lot of unique flavor combinations and played with the textures of dishes. The seafood was fresh and packed full of flavor. Everyone in our group loved the meal. The server paired wonderful sake with my taste and the courses. Previously I wasn't a fan of matcha, but the matcha pana cata changed my mind, it was so good. If you are looking for a fancy date-night restaurant in Indianapolis with high-quality Japanese food, look no further.
