Hilton New Orleans/St. Charles Avenue - Featured Reviews (2184)
I spend 100+ nights per year in all Hilton brands (diamond status) and travel to NOLA 3 or 4 times per year. Additionally due to my industry/company I was required to travel during the entire COVID nightmare. I totally understand the challenges and changes the pandemic brought to hotels and have a great deal of respect for the hospitality industry as a whole.||The lobby, public areas, elevators, gym, etc. all look beautifully maintained, recently updated, clean and smelled nice. The onsite restaurant Luke was delicious with excellent service.||Here's where it goes downhill:|Early check-in at a mandatory $25.00 fee. I disputed the fee and demanded an explanation of policy that states this from Hilton and the fee was waived. ||Additionally I was never upgraded as a diamond member even when the app shows upgrades available for a fee. I have a screen shot of this too... ||I asked for extra pillows 3 times before any arrived. ||The hair conditioner dispenser was empty. I asked for it to be filled twice to only be given a new full dispenser which the maid would not attach to the wall? ||Mattress felt literally broken in half right down the middle where countless people got in and out of bed. Needs to be thrown out. ||TV was on the verge of burning out; picture very dark. ||Direct TV reception would constantly freeze up and programming guild would not update. Mind you there was no inclement weather either. ||Bathroom with only one light source being the mirror made it impossible to effectively shave; not sure how women deal with it. ||Coming back one evening I inadvertently left my room card next to my cell phone and it got demagnetized? At 12:30am (midnight) there was no bellman/vale/staff anywhere and hotel front doors locked. There's a white button that says intercom which I pushed for 5 minutes with no response? I called the hotel's local number and no one picked up until the 2nd attempt/call. I told the lady who I was and the white button not working/my situation and it's now been almost 10 minutes. Her reply was "I've been watching you on camera and it's not been 10 minutes"? I was shocked! Only then did she unlock the doors. This button is not an intercom nor is there any indication/buzzer of the doors being unlocked...||Our $30.00 "diamond" daily food/beverage credits was not correctly applied. ||In conclusion: The hotel is ecstatically beautiful with a great leased restaurant space. However I would exhaust all other options before giving this property my hard earned money and loyalty again.
This historic and beautiful hotel was comfortable and accompanied by great service. The location is also excellent. It’s just a couple of blocks from Canal Street and easy walking distance to Bourbon Street and the Mississippi river. Special shout out needs to go to Miss Chris who gave us a tour of the building and Christian at the front desk. Others were equally as helpful, though I can’t recall their names. This hotel is highly recommended if staying in New Orleans.
Decided to stay at this location because it was very close to bourbon street and all popular locations. Very close to a lot of food spots and activities. The rooms was very out dated and old. The bathroom needs renovations, a lot of stains and the shower is always running out of hot water. The pillows are uncomfortable. The items in the hotel store are very expensive $7 for a 20oz soda that is expensive. I was not aware of the charges until I got my bill, the front desk fails to tell you the prices when shopping at the store section.
This hotel combines old-world charm with the high-quality that the Hilton brand is known for. Rooms were spacious and well-appointed, and while outdated, it was in a very charming way that felt very New Orleans. Views of the city were fantastic and the soundproofing was second to none. All of the staff were courteous and treated you with that famous southern hospitality, although housekeeping was a little lax (a few times our glasses weren't cleaned or we had to ask for the vent to be cleaned) but nothing major. Don't expect a smart TV, remote-controlled curtains, or anything fancy - but that's not a bad thing, imo! Spend more time just engaging or exploring this unique city, anyway! I'd definitely stay again!
Did a short visit to New Orleans (Sunday-Thursday) with family from NYC. We stayed at the Hilton (NOLA/St Charles) and it was FABULOUS!!!||At the Front-Desk, Samantha and Hillary provided EXCEPTIONAL Customer Service; at the Valet-Station, Alex and Mason were very considerate and responsive; at the bar, Bob made memories with that Smoked Blackberry Cocktail and my Extra Spicy Bloody Mary (it was so good, I ate all my veggies).||As a Hilton's Diamond Member, I have plenty of options in New Orleans. However, the Hilton / St Charles continues to be our favorite because of the Staff consistently provides exceptional Attention and Service!
Pros: Great location - walking distance to most Nola sights and great restaurants. Front desk was fantastic - polite, friendly and quick to respond to requests. Valet was professional. Our room was quiet.
Cons: AC is not sufficient. When we left the room was 74° after an uncomfortably warm night. Keep the curtains tightly closed. Even though we did, it was too warm.
Last, a maid knocked on our door at 1030am. I expect that at at a Motel 8 a not a Hilton.
I am writing in response to some dishonest behavior exhibited by this property. I will mention that I am a Diamond member and am usually treated quite well, but this property clearly doesn't know how to treat its loyalty guests. I had a change of plans and needed to move my trip last minute to the following weekend. I spent a good hour on the phone with the Hilton diamond desk as well as this property and was assured that I would be able to make the change, with a small late fee and rebooking for the next weekend. No problem. I checked my credit card statement a few weeks later and saw that I had a full night's charge plus the 50 dollar late fee on my credit card. After spending another hour on the phone with customer service, I was told this night's charge was my "late fee" for cancelling. I was deceived by this property. I will not be staying at this property again and will be providing feedback to Hilton corporate.
The hotel itself:
-location is fine
-restaurant was nice
-room smelled musty and moldy and the bed was very hard
-couldn't use the executive club because it was booked by "an event"
Avoid.
It was a beautiful hotel the bellman Ernel was helpful and pleasant. I would stay again for sure. Clean rooms. Comfy bed, and beautiful suites. Best rest I have had in a hotel. I Always stay at a hilton anywhere I go. The Luxe restaurant was delicious
