Hilton Garden Inn Oxford/Anniston - Hotel in Oxford - 280 Colonial Dr, USA

The hotel was clean but that is about the extent of it. I went down for breakfast and asked for decaf coffee. The lady stated they had no decaf. I have a medical condition that doesn’t allow for caffeine. I asked her not anywhere and her response was well check your coffee upstairs there may be one. This hotel lost out on three breakfasts due to that service. I have never stayed at any hotel that didn’t offer breakfast coffee. We never received fresh towels nor did I ever see housekeeping. Fresh towels should be a given at any hotel especially a Hilton. I stay only at Hilton properties and have never seen service like this. We travel to Alabama often but will not be staying at this hotel. Choose another one if you want simple things like coffee and towels. It was a huge disappointment. We were at a Hilton in Mooresville NC last weekend and it was fabulous. 5 star rating isn’t good enough for that property. They deserve a 10. This one needs restructuring badly for it to stay a Hilton.

Room was not cleaned. Hair on night stand&bed. Fresh Makeup was still on sheets& pillowcases. Had to call for new linen. Upon changing myself, noticed the comforter was even dirtier. Front desk was nice and offered a new room. New room was clean but the AC didn't work properly.

Not your typical Hilton service. Bar not open. No breakfast available on first morning there. Several doors not working properly. Very cold sitting area. Missing hand soap in room. Room not cleaned during my stay. Parking spaces taken up by construction trucks parked across numerous spaces.

We stayed at this hotel 4 nights. You cannot adjust the temperature below 68 degrees. When we arrived the room was very warm and humid. We arrived at 11 pm so it was not a good night’s sleep. Upon our arrival, the room had 2 washcloths, 2 towels and 2 hand towels. The sign inside bathroom stated the rooms are serviced every other day. The second day, we asked for additional wash clothes for washing our face at night. They left us 4 washcloths and 2 towels. On the third day, there was no service in our room so we thought maybe they skipped us due to giving us the towels and washcloths the previous day. The next evening, which was the fourth day, we arrived back to our room after 8 pm to find again, no service was done in the room. By this point we are having to use bags from the stores we had shopped at to hold our trash. I bathed the morning we left with a hand towel and we dried off with the damp towels that had not dried from the previous mornings shower. The common areas of the hotel are in need of a good cleaning. Not to mention repairs that are needed to busted pieces of baseboards and scuffed paint on walls and doors. The elevator floors in the two cabs were filthy. The hotel was full three of the four nights we were there and there is no excuse for these complaints other than poor management. We will probably not stay here on our next visit to Oxford.

We were here only to use the conference room but it was very nice and clean. The staff was friendly and despite the upscale feel of the building and decor the atmosphere was relaxed and calm. This was the best experience I've had utilizing a conference room and common space of a hotel.

The wife and I have stayed here many times, always pleased. This trip we had our Yukon loaded down with Christmas gifts. The desk clerk, Denise asked if we needed help with anything else, and I jokingly said “help with luggage”. Not batting an eye, she said sure “just let me get someone to cover the front desk”. We were floored! She came out to the car with us, and helped arranging our load onto 2 luggage carts. Then she accompanied us to our room, helping us unload all of our luggage and boxes of gifts! Wow! We hope that Hilton sees this review and congratulates Denise for going above and beyond.

The hotel was adequate for our short stay. Beds were comfortable and the shower was nice. There are signs around the property providing notification of renovations. In the room we stayed the bathroom door wasn’t level, so it had to be pulled a certain way to shut properly. The hallway light didn’t work, and using all other lights were barely adequate. On the weekends breakfast is advertised to start at 7:00am. Approaching that time, the breakfast wasn’t set up, so we left and ate elsewhere. As for the breakfast, that’s been an issue at many hotels we have stayed, not just Hilton. It appears to us that the industry is cutting corners in that area given the current economy. The bar area looked very nice, and if we had more time we would have checked it out.

I am only writing this review because of how great Deanna was with her guest. I watched her interactions with several and she was engaging with each one. My experience was her going the extra mile to accommodate my family. We met cousins in Anniston (midway point) we were all in one room running our mouths and needed more seating. I asked Deanna for solution for the chairs and she came through for us. Simple but impactful. She valuable and if my job was closer I would have tried to recruit her.
