Hilltop Inn & Suites - Hotel in North Stonington - 373 Norwich-Westerly Rd, USA

The hotel was a standard motel. Acceptable but worn….furniture could use some updating. Beds are on rollers so when you go to sit down you slide, which could be a safety issue. Where this motel excels is in their staff. The breakfast was just as stated, just a basic continental. However, of note was Joseph, who was always right on top of cleaning and filling the breakfast items and counters and tables. He was very polite and helpful. Also note was Koti The gentleman at the front desk on the Night Shift, who was incredibly pleasant and friendly. Our last interaction with the staff member was Dom, who was very nice and helpful as well.

Location was key to this trip, and this location was perfect! I might have expected some drawbacks because of that and the incredibly low price, but nope! Room was clean, brightly lit, beds & pillows comfortable, tv worked!! Dom @ the front desk asked all my questions re: the surrounding area, and climbed up to the 2nd floor to show me & my god daughter how the key worked, since we didn’t know, lol. When I’m in this area again, I know where I’ll be staying :-) Did I mention that the free continental breakfast also has a waffle maker!

It’s August so I can’t expect lower rates but almost $400 a night is steep for the room. The best and worst part…. When we checked in we were given a room that smelled so bad of smoke. We went to dinner and I wanted to cry. I was bummed and thought the hotel was completely booked and no chance of changing rooms. When we returned from dinner we visited the from desk and the woman at the counter followed us to the Smokey smelling room. She agreed and changed our room. We were so happy with the room we moved to. ||If you are expecting a resort hotel room this is not the place for you. For one night it worked for us. Room was clean, beds were comfy.

August 26 Stayed here overnight. As you enter the room it reeks of whatever spray they use to clean. Had to leave the air on high and door open for 30 minutes. Helped a bit. Went to dinner and was finally a bit more tolerable when we returned. There is a unit that looks like a refrigerator and is plugged in but does not chill drinks. They call it a cooling unit??? Never in my life have I heard of this, and besides, what is the point? It takes up space and serves no purpose. Get refrigerators! Now I need a tissue. There is a box on the counter. I find 3 tissues curled up to make a flower on top of the box. Cute idea, until I remove the flower to find an empty box! Had to use toilet paper instead. I go to plug in my phone. I put the plug into the outlet and it falls out when I let go. So I try the bottom outlet. Same thing. I had to push the chair against the plug so it would stay. Next morning we get to breakfast. There are fruit loops, white bread, bagels, oatmeal and a waffle maker. So I make the waffle and look all around for the butter. Ask at the desk and he says, oh yeah we're out. Gee thanks. Barely looks up at me and offers no apology or friendly anything. He looked bothered to be there. 5 bread items and no butter. No juice. No yogurt. No fruit. Thank goodness we only stayed one night. I happened to get a deal on the room otherwise I would have been really upset and disappointed if I paid full price for the room.

Run run run !!! Motel 6 is better 284.00 for what we were told was an executive suite, so we walked in the room and it smells like a wet basement , smells of mildew , table ( no chairs) scratched up like it was pulled out of a dumpster , headboards , shoot finding one along the road would.be in better shape , oh and did I mention they aren't even attached to the beds no they are screwed Into the wall , fridge was a cube sized fridge that looks like it's 20 years old , the staff was rude as all heck , telling people to chat up that they were pissing them off , another person checked into a room next to ours and had beer cans cigarettes and personal belongings still in the room they were supposed to have , not even a pool for 284.00 a night , staff does t even know what's in the area I had to google things myself, we did not end up staying there we checked out less then an hour of being there , we were told no member of management was there on a Saturday ( their busiest days ) so I call Monday morning was told no member of management available and as soon as I told the person my name he was like a decision was made it's final and hung up on me , so I call back and ask for management and he says you call again and it's harassment, all I was trying to do was talk to management about a refund for a room I never stayed in , I am not sure if this place has changed hands since other reviews were posted or if this hotel was writing their own reviews but even giving this place 1 one star 🌟 rating is too much maybe a half star if they are lucky to get that , , we went to the comfort inn and paid less money got a standard room that had 2 beds , 2 desks a bench , and a pull out sofa , not to mention tv fridge , a pool , full breakfast , a bar that is open u til midnight, and this wasn't even the best room , the comfort inn felt like the Hilton compared to hilltop inn . Do not DO NOT DO NOT BOOK HERE PLEASE

While the decor could use some updating. The staff on site work tirelessly from start to finish to try and keep each customer happy REGARDLESS of their attitude towards them. I have PERSONALLY seen this and been the recipient of incredible attention with each visit. I have stayed at LARGER hotel chairs and been treated far worse! ♥️ See you soon HILLTOP INN

The place was extremely clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. This is very nice motor lodge in a quiet setting that provides all the necessities. There was a basic breakfast buffet. Very convenient to the casinos. Great value for the price!

The location is excellent. The room is comfortable. The staff is helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious. The outside of the hotel has recently been upgraded and it is beautiful. Parking is free and easily accessible. It is a great place to stay, we will be back.
