The owner is nice at first but don't knock on office door after 5 pm. The owner gets really hateful and rude. And he won't give you your deposit back at all and if he does. Trust me it won't be all of it. The cleaner/ house keeper is his girlfriend and they act nice. At first. Don't be fooled. He goes in the rooms when you're gone and they will do so even if you say that you don't want them to clean the room. They will anyways. Just to be nosey.
Wish I could give them 10 stars. I'm working local and I am from out of state. I was going to rent a room in a house but one of my co workers recommended hillside. I cannot explain how accommodating the owner and staff is. I asked that I did not need my room cleaned daily but my pleasant surprise about weekly the staff still comes in while I am working I come home to a clean room. Anything I ask is taken care of immediately. They know I work off hours and do not bother me at all if I am here. Just a great place to spend a nice night or a month if working local.
My husband and I stayed here traveling through on our motorcycles. It was a spacious, clean, and updated room with a flat screen TV, fridge, microwave, and table for 2. We enjoyed the front porch with the plants. We ate at Mehlman's Cafeteria, "up the hill", based on a recommendation from the office and it was like a home cooked meal-yummy. Bruce, the motel owner, was very friendly. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
My wife and I stayed at Hillside Motel as we were traveling through. I was hesitant to stay so far off the beaten path, but we didn't want to pay a lot to stay at a place for a couple hours. This motel is a great place to lay your head. It is a quaint little motel, and it's on a hillside, imagine that! We were extremely pleased with how quite it was, even though it was Friday night. The facilities were well maintained. The rooms are small, but hey, you can't beat it for the short time you may be there. The attendant was extremely friendly and helpful with our extra needs. Overall, we would recommend this motel for anyone needing a place to stop over for the night. Also, there is an amazing little diner 2 miles further down the road. It's called Sonny Boy. The attendant told us about it. My wife, my daughter and I ate there(with food left over) for a grand total of $7.50! We really enjoyed out bit of time spent here. Hope this helps you decide to stay here and save some money!
Was a beautiful quaint Motel. The owner Bruce is so nice and helpful and his staff is A+.. If you are looking for a place with feeling of home this is for you. They have wireless internet which the kids loved and so did we.. The price is very affordable. I have to say that this is the first time that we did not stay at a chain hotel and I am so happy we found this little gem. Stay at the Hillside you will not be disappointed...
i love this place cause it has a home feeling with window boxes on the outside a gift store inside with candles even a grill to cookout. the staff is so friendly i spend my time just taking with them. nice and clean inside a ref. tv phone. it is close to the whg island casino and the mall in st clairsville about 10 mins from both or less. the prices are so reasonable . best deal here in the valley . type it in and you can see the pics of this place once you stay you will be booking this for sure
My husband was traveling through Ohio and needed an affordable place to stay. He usually stays at chains like Super 8 but they were either too expensive or booked so I found Hillside Motel and told him to check it out. He was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed the clean and maintained room and friendly and helpful owner/staff. Wish there were more places like it.
I lived in the St. Clairsville area years ago and we are renovating a house there now so we needed a place to stay.As a former travel agent who booked accommodations for groups and for myself, I was very impressed. The staff is so friendly and very accomodating. ...and the motel is very charming with some of the rooms updated and the others taking the guest back to the days whenRt 40 was the main thoroughfare between Wheeling Wv and Columbus Oh.The motel does not serve breakfast but there are several restaurants within 4 miles..one serving a 2.99 breakfast which is fantastic.|If you go make sure you visit the gift shop.It has a unique array of primitive items at affordable prices.|We will definitely be going back to the Hillside soon...and if you are in the Bridgeport/Lansing/St. Clairsville area and need a place to stay ,you might want to give them a call ..you will be pleasantly surprised.
I genuinely enjoyed my visit here today. The whole place, itself, is incredibly clean and well kept. The man who took our order was so warm and welcoming and immediately made you feel at home. The food was delicious and the portions are massive! I ab
This is one of those hidden gems that you stumble across. Cool little dinner. The staff are a great group of friendly people. The food is tasty. The amount of food is large and the price is one that you can eat out and not empty your pocket. I could

A quick drive thru for an amazingly delicious fast food chain. Try the fish sandwich, you won't be disappointed at all. Larger than other restaurants plus the taste is remarkable!
