My husband and I stayed at the Hillsboro Recreational Cottage last week, and we had a lovely time! The cottage is nicely decorated with very comfortable temperpedic mattresses,which was quite a surprise since we also have them in our home. It was so pleasant looking out at the Atlantic Ocean from our rocking chairs, particularly at night as we what the lights beaming from the lighthouse. Finally, we cannot say enough about how kind and accommodating Chris, the manager, was! We needed her assistance with figuring out the cable tv a couple of times, and she responded to our calls immediately. Anna & Steve

What a treat US Coast guard military cottages over 100 years old well-maintained by the Coast guard auxiliary. Went for a 50th anniversary with family and had a wonderful time. For buildings over 100 years old they are well maintained and in great condition for all the storms and hurricane they've been through over the years. The lighthouse was a treat to go in and have a private lecture by the author of the book on the Hillsboro lighthouse. Family members went scuba diving, played on the beaches, sat on the porches with various beverages, and just had a wonderful time. Played games, cooked out, and rested. Thanks especially to the woman who runs the rental of the cottages and the lighthouse beaches.

The lighthouse is maintained by us it's no longer maintained by the Coast Guard. We have one fundraiser a year. Excellent accommodations! Was there for my cousin/Godson's USCG Retirement Ceremony. I hope it's available to Vets to stay.
