Hill House was delightful, the perfect escape for an anniversary weekend getaway. The room was exquisitely decorated in a manner that was elegant, personal, and comfortable. The bathroom bordered on luxurious! It wasn’t what I expected in a bathroom in a nearly 150 year old town house.
Check in was easy and and unfussy. Damian keeps the process as informal as can be - sign her book and get the key! She and her husband also maintain a bowl of quarters near the door for guests to use as necessary for the metered parking on the street.
Breakfast was to die for. I’ll just leave it at that.
The location of Hill House is perfect for exploring downtown Frederick. Everything of interest is within easy walking distance, including some fantastic restaurants.
You won’t regret staying at Hill House B&B. My wife and I will be back for sure.
We totally enjoyed our stay. You couldn't be in a better location from which to enjoy the many fine restaurants of old Frederick. Parking is on the street. Just bring quarters to get you to 4 then don't worry about it if you leave before 10 the next morning. Our room was very clean, comfortable and yes, we loved all the interesting knickknacks and lovely family photos. Our large bathroom was impressive. Our hostess fit right in the overall ambiance of the home: elegant, classic and gracious. Early coffee was available and our breakfast of fruit and biscuits and gravy was perfect. Yes, our hostess sat at the head of the table but I would expect no less from such a refined lady. All bed and breakfasts are different. This one is unique.
We got the chance to spend one night here at the B&B. Hard to believe, but I've never stayed in a B&B before. So, I can't compare it to previous places. However, I can say that I enjoyed our stay. Location is great in Frederick and the home is quite quaint and inviting. Damian was wonderful and took great care of us. My only complaint was not being able to lock our room door. The entrance to the house is locked, but you can't lock the individual room door. You can to the Steeple room, but it's the same key to the front entrance...so anybody staying there can enter that room. Other than that....it was a nice place to stay for an evening.
The good things about this place were that is clean and close to downtown Frederick. Other than that it was not good. The hostess, Damian, really needs to improve her people skills. She was not very welcoming but the her worst behavior came at breakfast. She sat at the head of the table staring at her guests and barking orders about where we should place things on the table and even how to enter the room. She kept insisting that everyone place their coffee mugs on a coaster and would badger you until you moved your cup. Like other reviewers I felt the family photos in the bedroom (and bathroom!) to be an odd touch. I also felt there was an uncomfortable lack of security to the house and our room was extremely hot and uncomfortable in the morning. Even given the lack of choices in Frederick, I would not stay here again.
This was a stunning B&B. Damian was a lovely hostess. We stayed in the Victorian Room, which was more than the photos showed. Super comfortable, both temperature and comfort. I would stay again in a moment. You are around the corner from great entertainment and dining. Parking is on the street, but that's Frederick.

A friend and I were looking for a unique experience and thought we would try a B&B instead of a sterile hotel. Damien was a delightful hostess who made several suggestions about things to do and see that were all within walking distance. The rooms were quaint and lovely. The room with two twin beds had a huge bathroom. This is definitely a place for adults who believe staying in a hundred year old house is a treat.
