High Desert Motel - Featured Reviews (408)
High Desert Motel is an old motel that I found to be very affordable and convenient. Room was real clean and had a retro feel. It gives me the impression it was built in late 80’s or early 90’s, stays true to that aesthetic. For the price I was happy with my stay, and everything worked great. 👍 It’s definitely one of the most affordable in the area. I’d definitely stop here again.
Typical American Highway Motel. Upstairs room was well kept and renovated. Relatively silent considering it faces a busy Highway. Location is convenient on main Highway near bars, restaurants and the entrance to Joshua Tree park. Shower could have more pressure. Wi-Fi is good. Parking space sufficient considering number of rooms.
We've only been here an hour but felt the need to write a review immediately. I will update later, as we are here for three nights. It's 91 degrees, and when we walked into our room at 4:30ish the A/C was not turned on. Here we are an hour later with curtains shut and room still isn't cool. ||Also, just like every other hotel/motel we've stayed during our trip there is an ice bucket. But this place charges for freaking ice!!! We went and bought a bag...but how will it stay cool as we only have a fridge, no freezer? These are very small things that, I don't care how much or how little you pay for a room, should be included. If you have to raise your rates $5-$10/night, DO IT!!!
If you come here for a room, just know in the summer it’s HOT. Plain and simple. The room is hot. I have a portable thermostat with me and it’s 83.3 degrees Fahrenheit in the room I reserved. I selected one night and one night only. An aside: I camped in the desert, at night for the last three nights. No fan. What do I do to cool off? Take a bed sheet and soak it in water. The water can be warm too. Get undressed and wrap myself in the wet sheet. Sleep on the air bed that I pump up with my foot. I sleep like a baby. No fees. No holds on my credit card. Folks, you have been warned. You get what you pay for. I’m going back to camping. It’s not bad room: you need to bring blocking panels. Those long drapes that block the sunlight, this motel could DEFINITELY invest in some. The room on the second floor was too hot. Restroom. I had a shower only. It smelled of some type of commercial chemical product. I had some baking soda with me (yes, always carry some). You just need a little bit. Sprinkled some in the shower. Then, BAM, the smell was GONE INSTANTANEOUSLY. Baking soda is truly a deodorizer. Now, the bed. The bed was hard as a rock. I’m getting my air bed right now to pump up and I will sleep on the floor. You need to bring a memory form topper to sleep well. DO NOT COME IN BEFORE 3pm. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SLEEP IN THESE ROOM FROM 10am to 7:00pm. It’s too HOT. See the period to the left. I mean it folks. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SLEEP IN THESE ROOMS DURING THE HOTTEST PART OF THE SUMMER during the daytime. Lastly, there is free WiFi.
Very well kept, solid stay. Clean sheets, clean bathroom, sparkling pool. Microwave, coffee maker AND fridge in room. Can’t beat it for the price. Genuinely appreciate the vintage motel vibe. Feels safe.
We booked this last minute and the hotelier was very nice. The rooms were clean and convenient. Could have used an outlet by the bed but otherwise all was good particularly for the price.
Visited in April 2015. High Desert Motel was a convenient place to spend a night on our way to Joshua Tree National Park. We arrived late and left early. The gentleman was waiting for us and left as soon as we arrived. Although we encountered some issues with the Wi-Fi, we were promptly given the password for their private network.
Positive: Motel was ok for cleanliness. Negative: Motel is dated and needs some upkeep. Towels/wash clothes were dingy. A/C unit dirty. Bathroom fan frame all broken out.
My first time in Joshua Tree and we stayed at Casa Luisa! It was the most amazing stay ever! The house was clean, decorated really cute, and close proximity to the park and town! Joel was super easy to get in contact with as well! I canât wait to s
I love that they keep some of the Cambodian recipes from the original owner in the menu. Really great place for breakfast and people watching. The tres leches pancakes were unreal. Had a hard time keeping them away from the rest of table. Shredded ha
A free and enjoyable reclaimed material art display in the middle of the desert. To some it may look like junk, but there is definitely an element of real art to many of the pieces. Itâs worth seeing considering the fact of how unique it is and def
I ordered the vanilla latte and it was delish! Not too sweet which is perfect! Service was nice and it's a cute little coffee shop with nice decor and a cute little patio area. Will continue to come here when I go to Joshua Tree NP.
