This was number 6 of the 7 Lake County Water Authority Preserves that we have been to. Each has their own special gift, but this one gave us 2 hidden water gems: Lake Alfred and the stream in the Ravine. I have uploaded a photo of the trail map that I think highlights these features if you are short for time.
No restroom facilities here.
There are 2 parking lots. We parked at the one on Country Club Road. We walked farther than the Gopher trail and Ravine trail , but these two trails lead to the lake and back, so at least do those. Do be sure to sign in and out for your own safety.
Trail was nice. Very beautiful. Bring bug spray. Short trails but lots of ups and downs. Some steep when going to the sinkhole. Nice climb up getting out of the sinkhole. Tree fell and closed off the purple trail but we just crawled through.
A great hidden gem. We hiked here for a couple of hours enjoying the scenery.
A beautiful little spot! Spent about 3 hours there wandering the different trails, watching squirrels, and sitting by the creek chilling with a frog I met. Great for hikers who like more options then just going from point A to point B, lots of interconnected paths to explore. Has a variety of terrain, easy inclines, and lots of little forest creatures to enjoy. Definitely worth a visit!
Decent trail to hike got a few elevation changes which get the heart rate up. 👍😁 For a special moment with nature follow the trail to the stream. If your lucky you might just see a jewelwing Damselfly
Easy place to miss but definitely worth a stop. We took a 1.5 mile walk on the Ravine trail and around Lake Alfred. We saw a small water fall, small streams,, a turtle, birds, and plenty of colorful flowers. A mix of shaded and non-shaded parts of the trail. No restrooms available but there is an unshaded picnic table at the trailhead. It was great walk.
Amazing place. Doesn't even feel like Florida!
Hidden Waters Preserve in Eustis offers a fascinating hike with elevation changes and interesting terrain. We did not see where the sinkhole was that is supposedly easy to find. It's a short but sweet Preserve with shaded areas. Free to walk around.
