The tour is good, you get to go inside the house. A max of 8pax per tour group makes it cozy and intimate. A little spooky inside but you get to learn more about the family. The inside is well preserved and high tech based on the period it was built. The owners were definitely trail blazers...

We went to the holiday bazaar and I was disappointed by it. The $12 entry fee covered access only. Drinks were another $12 and the vendors were many of the same I've seen at other places across the city. I thought we would have entry to explore the museum, or there would be more decor. Felt like a crowded, expensive farmer's market with vague holiday touches.

I really wish I could, I was looking forward to it. I arrived promptly at the entrance and shown in. The ticket invited us to join them for a drink after the tour so I decided not to start with one. That was my mistake, maybe. So I waited patiently for thirty minutes for the tour to be called, but it never did. Apparently I was meant to go to a carriage house, where the drink is sold, and the tour was to start there. Bad communication me thinks. Me partly to blame for being an idiot, and the HHM for not pandering to idiots. If I was being cynical I'd say the tour intends to be a vehicle to sell alcohol. Thank goodness In not cynical. Spend my $10 wisely friends. (Amended star rating from 1 to 4 due to excellent response).

Bought three tickets, 12 dollars each, for the Christmas market and we were very disappointed. We covered the entire ‘market’ in about 10 minutes. It is described as a German-style market, with over 50 vendors, ornament making. There were about 15 overpriced vendors in the garden, nothing interesting to buy, nothing really festive for Christmas, no access to the house. Waste of money.

I went here for the Christmas market, it was amazing! A lot of great vendors. Definitely buy your tickets in advanced for that event

Heurich House Museum is a mansion from the Gilded Age just south of Dupont Circle. For a home in the city, it's massive, but for a museum, it's small. It's truly a museum/event space for locals, not tourists (though, tourists are welcome). The Heurich House is the mansion of Christian Heurich, a German immigrant who was the oldest brewer (he died at age 102) and big time business owner in DC. Outside of the government, he owned the most amount of land and employed the most amount of people. His large brewery now houses the Kennedy Center. This home is a historic property remembering Christian Heurich's legacy in DC. They offer tours (suggested donation of $10) Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays that last an hour long. In addition to that, they always have events from book clubs to brewing classes to a famous Christmas market every year. What most people don't know is they have a large garden in the back open to the public Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm. They have benches, picnic tables, and even an art gallery in the carriage house for people to enjoy for free. It's the perfect respite from the city!

Very detailed tours, friendly tour guides, and an incredible historic house! The Heurich House Museum makes a great stop while touring DC or for the locals, a break from the National Mall tourist traps!

We visited the museum with the kids and it was a fun experience. Learning the history about a successful immigrant story and seeing the castle preserved in its original form for so many years was amazing. A nice guided and small tour.
