Absolutely enjoyed my stay! Marjory and her family welcomed me with open arms and accommodated all of my needs. My room was gorgeous and quiet. Homemade pecan bread coupled with a hot cup of coffee in the morning.. hm mm. Highly recommend this experience 👍
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Heron Cay Bed and Breakfast. Our host, Margie and her family/staff, welcomed us with amazing warmth. Heron Cay's lovely surroundings with its beautifully decorated interior to the peaceful garden outdoors lends itself to its guests having a most pleasurable time. Our spacious top floor room was outfitted with a wonderfully comfortable king bed, a sitting room with a fold-out couch and of course an en suite bath (which all rooms have). There is an inviting sitting room and dining room for guests to gather and relax. The breakfasts each day were prepared and presented with impressive care. Juice, coffee, nutbreads, fruit platters and specialty egg dishes were served each morning. The Heron Cay is also super close to the Mount Dora downtown area which boasts lots of good restaurants and shops. We look forward to returning!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. This lodge sparkles like a diamond. It belongs in a Disney World theme park. Without a doubt, Heron Cay Lakeview B & B is dreamy – a post card fairytale, especially at night. Sleeping Beauty or Snow White would be quite at home. Margie accomplished that for us. She served up a great breakfast, gave us some history on the B & B and the Mount Dora community, and then took us on a quick tour of her property. Margie’s a great hostess.||Our room was comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated – as is the rest of the house. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with exotic plants and trees. Looking at the house, one can easily see it is extremely well built and well-maintained. Since it was built as a bed and breakfast, the layout, flow, and design of the rooms maximizes comfort. . . . cannot say enough about the peace and quiet and the overall experience. First class all the way!|
The grounds were absolutely gorgeous for Plein Air painting! The proprietor couldn’t have been nicer. The wonderful dogs were a great bonus. |Of course the massive Highwaymen paintings were absolutely amazing!
Amazing overnight stay-cation for me and my teenage daughter to escape the hustle and bustle of Orlando. The room we first picked was quaint and pristine, but the queen bed was a bit to small for both of us to share (my error in judgment). Margie the host was so kind and gracious to let us change rooms since it was not too busy, and even refunded me the difference! The common areas were ornately decorated in Victorian style, and we enjoyed being able to roam about the sitting and dining rooms. The pool was beautiful and clean, and was a tranquil, tropical oasis. We had a wonderful, peaceful night’s sleep, as the beds were comfy and the estate was so quiet, even though set off from a busy road. The only thing to note is that the trees and vegetation is now overgrown so you can’t see the lake from the rooms. Still amazing views nonetheless. In the morning we had a wonderful breakfast with fruit, nut bread, gourmet scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, coffee, and tea in the quaint and beautiful dining room. Start to finish, staying at Heron Cay was a wonderful little getaway. Look forward to returning…worth every penny; highly recommend.
This stately property is very comfortable and a short walk from downtown Mt. Dora. Margie, the hostess, is cordial, helpful and friendly. She had some recommendations of things to do, places to go and best restaurants. She has 2 dogs and a cat... they are well behaved and as pet owners outselves, found it charming. I suppose not everyone would agree. The breakfast "spread" is well done, however there are no "special orders", meaning you get what she prepares, consisting of a large plate of cut fruit, coffee and OJ, some breads and an egg casserole. I asked for a couple of fried eggs prepared over easy and was denied... she said she could not be a short order cook. No milk was available and no cream cheese for the banana bread. The room was spacious and nicely decorated (my wife thought the room was a little "overdone") but it was comfortable. The bed may have been a little soft for some people... I prefer a hard mattress, but was fine. We were on the third floor with a view of the pool and a partial view of Lake Dora. Only two flights of stairs... no elevator. The grounds are lovely, though somewhat overgrown and in need to some TLC... but the upkeep on a property like this is no easy task and certainly not cheap. This would likely be a "stay here again" place if we ever make it back to Mt. Dora.
We are central florida locals and just needed a quick getaway for me and my fiancé. Mt Dora is delightful. The location is right next to downtown. The house is amazing, the rooms are gorgeous and comfortable, and the owners are warm and inviting. Pet friendly with well maintained grounds and a pool. Breakfast was delicious! We will definitely visit again. Thanks.
It was the perfect get away at Mt. Dora, FL. The Heron Cay was absolutely lovely and the hotel owner was so kind and gracious. The grounds around the pool area were a tropical garden paradise. Mt. Dora is a wonderful small town . We will be back!

We regret not coming sooner. We loved their shakes! The owners were so helpful and friendly. Definitely a go-to when running errands or you missed a meal. Their menu is filled with protein, low sugar, and a variety of nutrients in every cup.
What a nice surprise in this adorable little town. Lots of local wildlife to see. In our short walk (30 minutes), weâve seen snakes, gators, turtles and dozens of birds
We visited the flea market about 10 minutes away and wanted to explore the town. Very beautiful place to take pictures and just sit around on a bench and read or just have a conversation with your favorite person. We couldn't walk more around the are
Best fried chicken Iâve had around here. Itâs hand battered and fried to order. They have an array of sauces and rubs to choose from. I got the chicken sandwich with mild Buffalo sauce, seasoned fries, and loaded street corn. Everything was hot a
