Great way to spend a few hours with the family. Quaint little village with lots of history and neat things to look at. It was nice and peaceful. Self-guided tour, but the staff in the gift shop and restaurant gave us friendly and excellent service. It is a bit of walking and did not have ramps available in a couple of areas (we had to pick up the stroller and carry up some stairs twice) but mostly easily accessible. Prices in the restaurant, village and gift shop were all reasonable. There is no menu, its a set family style meal and it's all you can eat. The food was fresh and delicious, like it came straight out of a Granny's kitchen. Definitely would love to go back.
This is an amazing hidden gem. If you love history, especially Texas history, you won’t want to miss this stop in your travels. Best $5 ever!
Neat place. Nice gift shop. It took us about 40 minutes to go through the outer buildings and about 30 minutes to go through the store. The lady behind the counter was knowledgeable & nice. I wouldn't eat at the restaurant again but the rest of the experience was good.
Amazing place to transport back in time to see what life was like in frontier towns. Several buildings are authentic or parts are authentic from old towns in the area. Call ahead to find when they are providing demonstrations as you will be able to see people performing some of the trades. Even without the performances, I loved this destination.
Very cool place! The Heritage Village is a replica of what a street may have looked like in the late 1800's, and has many historical pieces of interest to each business represented. So the printer shop has printers, etc that were used to print newspapers, books, etc.. There's a shop and a very good restaurant on the premises, also. Highly recommended for history buffs, families with kids and really anyone wanting to know a little more about the earlier years of our nation. Our ancestors worked very hard back in the day and the Heritage Village Museum is a testimony to that.
Really cool buildings outside. I wish there was a tour guide. Inside there is a neat store and small museum. The information was neat as well.
Went at lunch time. Enjoy reading the posters. The staff very courteous to everyone. The fried chicken was good, the chicken and dumplings and all the sides. Our group had a good visit. Everytime I have gone food always good. The staff was great. I gone with a small group and large groups.
Quite a neat place full of History. The gift shop is full of historical tidbits, gift options, and fun things! Be sure to visit the picket House restaurant while there to get your world famous fried Chicken, peach cobbler, and dumplings! Tom and his blacksmithing demos are absolutely fantastic, too!
