Heritage House Resort & Spa - Hotel in Little River - 5200 CA-1, USA

Yesterday I stopped by this amazing spot to check out one of the most picturesque spots on the coast. I’m lucky I’m so comfortable with my own company as it seems I’m stuck with me 😉. I hadn’t been here in a long time and after the experience, am kicking myself. The hospitality and professionalism of the staff was awesome. Everyone from the hotel attendant to the bar/restaurant staff all greeted me warmly and made sure I had all I needed. I wasn’t there to eat, but wish I did as their menu looks enticing and the specials even more so. I did choose to try two of their signature drinks, both hit the spot with my favorite being the Bartender Robin’s special creation Sour Waffles. I would do back just for it and I highly recommend it to all of you who partake. I look forward to the time I can get back….

After coming here for years, I brought my sister and her husband with me and she said, “Now I know why you love this place so much”. They were thrilled with Heritage House. I loved the renovations/upgrades to the rooms as well. Fabulous choices in new decor - comfy sofa and beds, and of course impeccable views. And Sarah Custer and Max Leal greeted me with the warmth and joy of seeing a favorite visiting family member. They always welcome me back with such kindness. I’m currently working on dates for a return visit in Feb or March. I 💜 Heritage House.

Absolutely outstanding place to stay. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. We got lots of local recommendations and great service. I’ve never had a better hotel breakfast in my life. Everything was made fresh and delicious. Beautiful views as well and cozy rooms with fireplaces :)

This review is not about a stay but about the exceptional service I received from Max while planning to surprise friends of mine. I knew my friend was planning to propose to his girlfriend en route to Heritage House so I called the front desk of the hotel and asked for help getting a bottle of champagne and a note delivered to their room. Max walked me through the process and even suggested I wait till the day-of to make sure my request was fulfilled. I called a few hours ahead and was fortunate enough to be connected to Max who remembered our conversation from earlier in the week. Not only did Max execute my vision perfectly, he went above and beyond in making sure I was satisfied with the plans. Thank you so much, Max!

We splurged on the Heritage Suite. So spacious, and the views are drop-dead incredible from every room. Gourmet kitchen was equipped with most everything, and was huge. But icemaker didn’t work, and gas grills were dirty.||The bathroom was terrific—huge tub, good shower, gorgeous views. And how many water closets have you been in that have an incredible ocean view? But the motion light sensor didn’t work properly and was most frustrating.||There’s a huge deck that offers gorgeous 180 degree views. But there are no umbrellas or overhangs to protect from the southern orientation, so you get really blasted from the south and west in the afternoon. ||The bedroom is really too big, and is awkwardly furnished. There are 2 large armchairs to the side of the bed that do nothing—take those out! Ditto for the wrap-around shelf along half of the wall—really weird and ruins the ambience of the room. Far better to have a nice desk, table and/or dresser instead. A designer will go a long way in improving the furnishings in that unit, and the living room needs a lot of help too. Also disappointed in bed sheets and pillows.||With the unit as large as it is, the clothes closet is ridiculously small. And we were extremely disappointed the room was not available just 1 hour earlier—and the property was at most half full.||Location is good, with easy access to the wineries in Anderson Valley. Grounds are beautiful at the hotel too, and worth exploring.|

Service and quality sacrificed. We have stayed here , brought couples with us to stay and have found it to be one of the most enjoyable places on earth, including a beautiful sit down breakfast facing the ocean more often than not being served by Christine. No more . She’s gone as is the service. You serve yourself for $25 a head via a micro “buffet” hosted by a nice young man who says “ room number -$25 no exceptions “. It’s the little things.

We have stayed at this property multiple times and will absolutely continue to enjoy the unique beauty of this charming location. I have always worked with Sarah Custer for our reservation process, and when she is there have had some of the best customer service in my experience. Unfortunately she was not working during this stay, and while we had a wonderful time, there was just a little magic missing due to her absence. |The room we were given had recently been renovated, and definitely was an upgrade. I was a bit surprised to see white fabric chairs as part of the new furniture—I can imagine that will be a nightmare for the housekeeping staff as time goes on. The new sliding glass doors were amazing, just wish they had a screen. Generally we like to keep the slider open with the screen closed so we can hear the ocean, but did not want the room to fill up with bugs. The bed was amazing this time. So incredibly comfortable! Definitely an upgrade there! |We have always loved the food at the restaurant at the property, and dinner was wonderful. Food quality was top notch, and whoever the new chef is, they need to keep at all costs! |The one thing I would say that was okay, but not great, was the new breakfast buffet. We have always looked forward to our breakfast there, and this time it was only ok. I feel like if a switch like this is going to be made, it needs to have top notch offerings. This was not great. I would highly recommend taking a look at that. |I do hope that the staff is compensated properly, because there really is a skeleton crew and it seems that they have to handle a lot. |We will for sure be back, I just hope ownership reads these reviews, because this place is awesome, but some of the amenity details could for sure be improved.

My hotel room was not perfect. The heated floor and fireplace did not work. However, they still receive 5 stars.|My spiritual needs were met here. My son & I experienced peace, admired the earth around us, and had a joyful time. Make your reservation asap! Happy travels
